Leaving the original review in place. However it's difficult to express my disappointment of being basically misled as to the availability of the vaunted Mythicvs wine. During the tasting, while we were able to try the amazing Mythicvs, we could not buy it as it basically sells out every year. Fine I get it. I bought 3 bottles of Prince Of Hearts instead. Julian said we would have an opportunity for an allocation in 2024 as we had visited the estate and bought some wine. Fast forward to February 2024. I inquired about the release and got this reply: "Thank you so much for reaching out. You will not see the it amongst the other flagship wines allocated in this release as Mythicvs will actually be offered as a separate release in March. Due to the limited quantity, and the high demand for this wine, we are unable to allocate Mythicvs to all members. I have noted your request, and we will do our best to extend you an allocation in March if at all possible. Regards, Amber DeWeese" Still hopeful, I patiently waited. In May i inquired again and got the following reply from the same person: "Unfortunately, we were not able to offer you an allocation of Mythicvs. The limited supply of Mythicvs was sold to members who have purchasing seniority." My problem is why get customer's hopes up? Just say during the initial tasting that it's unlikely we'll get to buy it anytime soon. Bottom line is this is a beautiful place, definitely worth the tasting fee. But the staff is a little bit disingenuous. I suppose when you have a consecutive 100 point wine you can do this but it did leave a rather sour taste in my mouth. They should be more transparent as to how Mythicvs is allocated. Do you need to have spent a certain dollar amount over the years or within a one year period? Do you need to have been a member for a certain number of years? I don't know. What I do know is they should do what they say they will do. A bit of sour grapes? Maybe. It just sucks to have actually visited their estate, and patiently waiting over a year to be able to buy the wine and being told basically "sorry you're not good enough". My suggestion to them is to be upfront at the tastings and tell people what they need to do in order to be able to purchase a bottle of Mythicvs. read more

Had a great experience here! Was greeted with some amazing rosé and then was walked through the whole estate, finishing with a private tasting in the house of the owners which was such a cool experience with all the renaissance art and statues. Bought a bunch of bottles and couldn't be happier! These guys pay attention to detail and don't put anything out that doesn't hold up to their standards. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Blankiet. We found the wines and the terroir, the winding road, and the estate amazing. Cannot say enough. We have been to very many great tastings, and enjoyed a number of good tastings inside and outside of the country. We were disappointed with our host: Julian. He asked us questions to appear to want to gain knowledge on our experiences; but he continued to try to "up" us, without listening to our answers, before hopping in, and talking about himself. Being worldly ought to come with some humbleness. We wanted to buy at least a bottle or two of the wine; It was wonderful wine! We were so disappointed, we just left. If you are looking for really great experience with wonderful wines and super good curators/wine host; we really recommend Verite. read more

I didn't know there was such a thing as "off the beaten path" in Yountville, but sure enough, this little gem is tucked so far away that you'd never know it was there unless you had directions. Julian was our sommelier and he was so knowledgeable about the industry from soil to the store shelf. He should be a professor of viticulture. We're used to group tastings, I think we've only had one or two private experiences prior to this visit. You could sense Julian's passion for the business, for the vineyard and for the owners. He also gave us a lot of tips about wines, other vineyards and restaurants in the area. The vineyard itself is gorgeous, nestled beautifully on the side of the mountain. The wine processing facility was absolutely spotless. For part of the tasting experience, we were taken to the owner's home which turned out to be a Mediterranean castle/estate. This is the most expensive tasting we've attended at $100 per person. But between the property, our guide's enthusiasm and the quality of the wines, well worth it. read more

Throughout our 4-day trip in Napa Valley, nothing came close to the experience The Blankiet Estate and our host Julian provided. Feeling welcomed from the moment we drove onto the property, Julian passionately described every detail that made their estate and wine-making process remarkable, while engaging in great conversation with us as we tasted the wine and toured the breathtaking grounds. Owner Claude Blankiet even stopped to talk with us further about the story behind purchasing the estate. To top it off, the wine was unforgettable, and with zero pressure to join any wine clubs or purchase at the end of our experience. Instead Julian simply made sure we knew all the options for purchasing the wines we loved whenever we return home to Connecticut. I simply love the wines from this estate. Denis Malbec and May-Britt Malbec are the latest winemaker/viticulturalist team to continue the tradition in delivering well balanced meritage in the tradition of fine Bordeaux. A renowned group of people have provided assistance here, beginning with David Abreu, Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer, followed by Michel Rolland and Martha McClellan. And not to mention that the winery's second label - Prince of Hearts - has got to be the best bargain in Napa. About half of the production goes into this second wine, with only the best of the vineyards to the flagship labels described below. The vineyards and winery are tucked up into the hillside, reached after a drive through and around the expansive Napanook vineyard, in the foothills of Mt. Veeder (Mayacamas mountain range) outside Yountville. The estate's flagship, "left-bank" Paradise Hills is less than 900 cases of a blend of two thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Another small production wine, Rive Droite, the "right-bank" (a Pomerol / St. - Emilion look - a - like wine), is composed of primarily Merlot with some Cabernet Franc rounding out the blend. Both of these wines garner HUGE scores from all the critics each year. Both are expensive and require some cellar time, but in my opinion, are among Napa's finest. During our visit, which was admirably hosted by Patrick, Claude stopped in for a few minutes to talk about his new Mythicus (100% cabernet) bottling, and to talk about how he and he wife Katherine developed the property. The grounds, residence and winery and simply stunning, and share some architectural traits with Hall Rutherford (the Austrian brick is from the same source). This is another off-the-beaten path winery that requires a reservation well in advance and is well worth the effort. I saved this comment for last, because production is so small and we want it all. Have been wanting to schedule a tasting here for a while and had not made it work...until recently. The drive into the Blankiet residence was intriguing and exciting. After many twists and turns, we made it. And boy was it breathtaking up there. We were blessed with one of the many Napa Valley dreamy days. I was initially disappointed when I saw a man standing in the parking lot. I wanted our tour to be private for our party of 6. Turns out, it was! Patrick was waiting for us as we drove right up. Perfect! After a brief welcome, the tour started immediately walking the grounds and learning all about production. Then, we got back into our cars and drove up a little more to the private residence of the Blankiet family for the tasting portion of the tour. Turns out, it's their actual home. As you can see from the photos, the castle is stunning, and the tasting room is beautiful. They only recently started providing tastings. Patrick was very nice and thorough with his explanations. He's actually related to the family (which explains why he's more assertive than most hosts at other wineries). We originally found Prince of Hearts down in South Florida and were eager to also learn more about their other wines. We tried six different ones and loved them all! Of course, I always favor the cabs. They don't have a wine club, per se, but if you are on the mailing list then you will have access to the releases. This is important because they are very limited. For the most part, you cannot get them at any wine store. I would love to see Blankiet evolve and offer more intricate tastings such as wine/cheese pairings, tapas, or something different for repeat visitors. Perhaps host an annual event for their list members too? The actual tasting itself is very to-the-point; sit and drink. Nothing wrong with that, but more options would be great! Blankiet's wines have been a favorite of mine for years. I visited the winery this afternoon and was blown away by the beauty, the service, and the wines (of course.) Patrick showed us around the vineyards explaining the unique soil types, winemaking techniques, vine canopies, and even the leaves. We then made our way to the tasting room. And when I say "tasting room," I really mean castle. And when I say "castle," I really mean a castle. The tasting room has a large table around which everyone can sit, relax, and really study the wines. Patrick answered all our questions and was not at all pretentious. He generously opened up about six wines to taste, and they were all -- to put it simply -- incredible. Definitely a must visit. read more

I was lucky enough, first, to learn about the Blankiet winery, and then to be part of a small group that visited last fall. Claude Blankiet took the time to personally show us parts of the winery, along with Patrick, his winery manager. The care and expertise they employ in creating their wines shows through. It's no wonder they've accumulated the scores they have over the years. Claude is an innovator, as can be seen on his website where he tells about his application of rather arcane technology to insure that you're receiving bona fide Blankiet wine and not some counterfeit in a bottle bearing their label. I expect his method, or something like it, will eventually become common for high-end wines like his. But in the end, it's all about the wines, and Blankiet - to my mind - is pretty much as good as it gets. read more

First time on the west cost and Napa with a limited expectation. This was the first vineyard I visited with my girlfriend and it was BY far the best. Patrick was our tour guide and gave a full dissertation on the harvest, production and overall wine making process. Patrick was the most knowledge, friendly and personable guide we had a chance to meet. He gave us the unique opportunity to try the various grapes on the property, learning about the different varieties of each distinct micro climate that produce distinct flavor profiles. We also had a chance to venture into the aging caves. We went to a dozen other vineyards and wineries but this was by far the most thorough and complete experience. The wines are top notch and worthy of the hefty price they yield. Blankiet Estate is a true top 10 vineyard. read more

I made a reservation for a wine tasting a few days ago to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. The receptionist was very kind. However, I just got a call from another person there asking us to come two days earlier. Given the short trip we could not do that, nor should anyone expect customers to rearrange their trip to come during a weekday versus weekend. When I told her that we are coming here for my wife's birthday, she could not make any exception or even offer us anything more than an apology. I guess the people at Blankiet do not understand the concept of good customer service, even though they are really only one of hundreds of competing wineries in the Napa Valley area. read more

I ran across Jacob's review and felt I had to comment. We had the opportunity to participate at a tasting here a few months back and had a remarkable experience. We have been to the wine country many times and have participated in an amazing variety of tastings including several high-end (cult) tastings. This one was unlike any other. In addition to tasting the spectacular wine, we had the chance to learn a lot about what went into the creation of the wines. Claude and Patrick went way beyond what one would typically expect even at this price point. It is unfortunate that Jacob had the scheduling snafu but I would strongly recommend that anyone who wants to have a truly memorable wine experience take the chance to have a tasting a Blankiet. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday in January this year. WOW!!! First off, you pull up in front of a castle...surrounded by vineyards....how can you top that?? As we step inside for a fantastic sit down tasting with Patrick, who is so charming and informative, we feel right at home immediately. Through research on napavintners.com I landed on Blankiet's website and was intrigued enough to schedule a visit. I've been to many places in Napa and Sonoma and have to say Blankiet has probably the most beautiful setting I've seen. It's a very scenic spot in the bench above Yountville. Patrick, Blankiet's ambassador is extremely informative and warm. Their wines are expensive and high in demand, I'd love to try some older vintages, though. Blankiet's pricing is reasonable for what the quality of wine that they make. If you like a more intimate tasting setting that features higher end wine, Blankiet is for you. read more

In July, my husband and I visited Blankiet Estate for a full tasting and tour with the winery's manager, Patrick. What an experience. First of all, the property is beautiful and conveniently located just outside of the town of Yountville. Gorgeous rolling hills of vines and a beautiful castle - it is simply incredible. We spent several hours on the property with Patrick, who is as friendly as he is knowledgeable. We learned about topography, soil quality, winemaking technique, storage and everything in between. Patrick knew the answer to every question we asked and seemed excited to share his wealth of knowledge. And that was just the tour! It goes without saying that the wines we tasted were delicious - it is Blankiet after all. The red wine paired with Ghirardelli chocolate was a tasty touch. Patrick's explanation of the wines was thorough, yet easy to digest for those visitors who don't necessarily fall into the wine connoisseur category (me). All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Blankiet and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who truly appreciates good wine and is interested in learning about winemaking in a "soup to nuts" fashion. We are big wine lovers/foodies and this was the best winery tour and tasting we have ever experienced. read more
