The 2 services (massage and facial) I received were great! All staff/employees were great. Not a fan that you cannot go use the big pool after you have a spa treatment. The pool at the spa is not the pool I wanted to enjoy. As a local it would be nice to have a spa treatment then use the nicer pools at the hotel, like other resorts allow. read more

I was able to spend a day here and the goal was total relaxation. My massage was insanely good as was the food. My service from our waitress Siham was top notch. She was friendly and went out of her way to take care of us. We ended up lounging at the heated spa pool all day and couldn't have asked for a better getaway. Disappointing. Service was ehhh. I will not return. I prefer Joya Spa or the Princess or Camelback or even Talking Stick to this one. It is not as elegant and relaxing as others. I planned to stay all day but the layout does not encourage the all day relaxation as much as others and it is not comfortable. The lady who took me back to take me to my locker half-assed it and did not go up the stairs to show me where to wait for the massage and never showed me or told me about the relaxation area which would have been nice to use before my massage. She also never gave me a suitable pair of flip flops and the ones in the locker would have fit a man with huge feet and I almost tripped down the stairs. The lockers are much smaller than other spas and have shelves taking up space so you cannot fit an overnight sized bag which people usually being to spa. One thing I found ridiculous is that the card you give at the beginning for gratuity cannot be used for food nor will they allow you to pay at the end when you leave. You have to go back to the locker room,get your card and then go back to the locker room to put tour card back in the locker as robes do not have pockets. They will not even allow you to order or pay at the end at the bistro cashier. When I went to go get my card so I could pay, birds got into my food (literally birds in my chip bowl and on my plate) and I had to reorder food. That would not have happened if they were like most spas where you give credit card ONE time at the beginning and not again as I would have been eating and would mor have had birds in my bowl. I have yet to try Wild Horse Pass Spa,but I've been to most of the other nice spas in the valley. Revive was just ok. The other spas are more welcoming for staying all day. I did not find the staff to be Marriott level service. Go to the Princess or Joya. I left disappointed and irritated. read more

Came here twice while staying at the resort for prenatal massage. The spa is relaxing and had lots of amenities. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. I had Jenny and Kristin as my massage therapist and they were both wonderful and exerted the firmness I needed to relieve a bit of my back tightness. The one negative is that the spa decided to no longer offer the 80 minute prenatal option. Why take that away from expecting mothers?! This is when we need it the most given the extra weight our bodies are carrying. 50 minutes is simply not enough. read more

Amenities like hot tub, steam room and sauna need maintenance. The thin staff they have is overwhelmed and a bit rude due to it. I just received a hydra facial for $342 that was the biggest waste of my money. I get hydra facials pretty often at another resort and they are way better and about $50 cheaper. The money isn't really my concern if something is worth it, but this was not. She was way too gentle, and I like gentle. I couldn't even feel her using it on my face. I typically get a little red, but not even a little today. Waste of time and money! Also, I wasn't greeted when I arrived and no one said anything when I left. I paid when I arrived, never again. They should ask how everything was, guess they don't care since I already tipped. read more

Came here for a 50 minute facial. I arrived about an hour early so I could have time for a full tour to get acquainted with the spa area. The tour lasted about 45 seconds even after I informed the attendant I had never been there before. If I hadn't done research before hand by looking the place up online I wouldn't have found out about the pool, bistro, or fitness center. That's pretty disappointing after having just had to pay a pretty high price up front for a facial with 20% gratuity (not an option, they automatically add this and have you pay up front). Regardless, I was fine figuring everything out by myself. I enjoyed the steam room before heading up to the relaxation room before the facial. The room looked awesome, tons of lounge chairs, a fireplace, water, & snacks. However, there was no spa feel at all thanks to over a dozen people in the area talking in loud normal voices. They probably need to dim the lights, raise the music level, and put up some signs. There was literally no relaxing here. The actual facial was very nice. Good quality with someone who knew what they were doing. It was good both quality wise and for relaxing. I enjoyed the pool, steam room, and shower before leaving. No steam shower though which would have been a nice touch. In the parking lot as I was leaving a man was yelling at his wife and it kept getting louder until he started physically beating her. I ran back into the spa to alert the staff. What a chaotic end to the whole experience. You'd really just expect this to not happen at this kind of facility. Kinda ruined the relaxing tone of the experience. Probably won't return and instead would visit another spa in the area. read more

I came here on a travelzoo deal ($71 for a 50 minute massage, glass of champagne, coconut oil scalp massage and access to the revive relaxation pool). After changing in to my robe and relaxing on one of their lounge chairs, I was called back in to one of the massage rooms - my therapist was named Jessica...or Jennifer I think and she was very nice and accommodating. My massage was great and very relaxing. The 50 minutes went by so fast but it was still great. Afterwards, I took advantage of the jacuzzi, steam room and pool. I definitely made the most of my day there and then proceeded to go back home to face my reality of a 5 year old and the husband! :) read more

The place is definitely in need of a face-lift. The spa had missing tiles and lots of old gunk. The women's facilities needed some cleaning up- the showers were pretty filthy- I didn't much feel like I was getting clean. The steam room lacked some major steam and there were no ice towels outside of the room to cool you off while you were in there (something that I think is essential). Outside, the pool is nice- but requires more pool chairs. I ended up having to use one in the back corner under a palm tree- which while shaded and nice, had a fair share of bird poop on it :( My massage was nice- no complaints there although the quiet room where you wait for your service was quite a few levels above quiet but that's due to how busy the place was on a Sunday afternoon- lots of chatty women. Also, the iced tea may have been the culprit for my food poisoning that I experienced a few hours after leaving. I will probably not be going back to this spa- there are too many amazing options in the area to give this place another shot. P.S. Another big bone to pick with the whole experience- when I first got there and checked in they told me how much gratuity was and charge it up front. $30!! Since moving to the Valley three years ago, my favorite passtime has become "test-driving" valley Spas. Revive Spa at the JW Marriot at Desert Ridge has become my favorites. If you've never had a Table Thai Massage - this needs to move to the top of your New Years Resolution to "Try New Things in 2009." Revive is one of the few Spas in the valley to offer this treatment (I've also had it at the Phoenician Resort). You are gently pulled, pushed and kneaded, stretched. I always leave feeling invigorated - instead of lazy. You actually wear loose fitting clothing for this. At $190 for the 80 minute treatment it could be pricey (or in some resorts a great deal). If you've ever been lucky enough to have a personal trainer stretch you after a workout - that's what this feels like -- only 80 minutes worth. It's a little heaven on earth. read more

What a relaxing place! After spending two days here, we were totally refreshed and relaxed. Revive has a workout facility, fitness classes, spa, salon, pool, and restaurant. You can spend whole day here and relax. Although the facilities are not "grand" as the JW Desert Springs Spa in Palm Desert, CA, I found Revive much more relaxing. I have not been to other spas in Arizona. The fitness area is nice with a treadmills, bikes, elliptical runners, free weights and machine weights. Each locker room has a steam room, dry sauna, jacuzzi, private outdoor shower, and private sunning area. Steam room got really hot and steamy. So steamy, you couldnt see where you were going. I had to be careful and announced myself coming in so I didnt "bump" into anyone. The locker room was always kept clean. Showers and sink area were organized and clean. The spa provides guests with robes, towels, and shower slippers. The outdoor shower and private sunning area were unique in that you could do all this in the buff. I noticed several guests taking advantage of this. No tan lines! The restaurant was pretty good. We really enjoyed the Bistro's Blackened Cod. It was very refreshing and tasty. Probably one of the best things that we had at the entire resort. Service is quick but not rushed. I never want to be rushed during my day at the spa. We both enjoyed the services we received. The Gentlemen's facial was very relaxing and helped clean out those pores. The therapeutic massage was also great. The pool was pretty large with one swimming lane. I felt the water was little bit cold. Should be warmer. Overall, if you plan on staying at either the JW or Canyon Villas Timeshares, I highly recommend that you spend a day here to cleanse yourself. I've been to a several Valley resort spas and this one doesn't disappoint. I guess rating and reviewing spas can be a bit tricky as not only treatments depend upon the staff but expectations and use of the facilities varies from person to person. I'm a massage fan and love to use the steam, sauna, pool, and workout facilities. Plush lounge areas and well-stocked shower and locker rooms are pluses. The pool and pool area at this resort spa was the biggest that I've experienced. Plenty of lounge chairs and a swimming area larger than average. I also enjoyed 1 of the 2 outdoor showers. Can't explain it but you'll know what i mean when you try it. Made me want 2 get one for my home. But i digress, the spa also has a decent cafe overlooking the pool area and the upstairs lounge area was very comfortable. Need to go back soon! read more

I was staying at the Marriott Canyon Villas, right across the street from the JW Marriott. I really needed a good massage and this was the ticket! Also, if you book a Spa treatment, you can have access to the outdoor pool, Spa Bistro, the sauna & steam rooms plus the lounge and showers in the changing area, to use before or after your treatment. I thought that this spa was excellent, however I guess it depends on what the expectation and goals were. I went to revive for a massage and a bit of relaxation after a long day in meetings. Did not spend a day there and partake of all the offerings. There was a discount offered by attending the conference the JW Marriott. I popped down for a massage and some time in the steam room after. The massage was great, nice rooms with adjustable height tables. So if you masseuse is taller and you are shorter you don't have to hop up onto a table. Not really a problem for me, but considerate of the spa for others. The rooms were well insulated so noise was not an issue. The locker room is fairly standard and was in good repair and cleanliness when I was there, granted it was toward the end of the day with low traffic. The masseuse was polite and reserved. The shower facilities were well maintained and clean with large individual showers for after your massage. There were a large stock of towels for use. There was liquid body soap and shampoo/conditioner available in each shower in large dispensers on the wall. A disposable loufah would have been the only thing that could have been added to round out the experience. The steam room was great, large area with room for lots of people. I got to enjoy it alone. All in all I enjoyed my brief and focused visit at the Revive spa. I thought that it was reasonably priced for a resort spa, especially with the discount from my conference. I would return if I am at the Marriott again, but not sure I would travel to the spa if I was just in the Phoenix area. read more

Oh my, what a lovely place. I just spent a full day here. I had a private yoga class in the morning with Rasoul. I recommend him to anyone. We did gentle yoga, as my dad was with me. Rasoul has a soothing voice, a calm demeanor, and he really, really knows his stuff. After, I changed in the ladies locker room and spent many hours at the pool. What a great spot! The service was wonderful! I was able to order poolside smoothies and lunch, and their servers are polite, quick, and know the menu really well. I appreciated that it is an adult pool, and pretty quiet. I loved the tall palm trees and the oasis ambiance. After several hours at the pool, I used the spa locker room to shower. I don't usually take advantage of that sort of thing, but the shower area was super, super nice. The showers are large, but I wish they had a hook inside to hang my towel and robe. The bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner were lovely and high quality. Disposable razors, shaving cream, cotton swabs, combs and brushes, and other toiletries were available, as well as hair dryers and a hurling iron. It was a lovely experience. Any Marriott guest can pay $35 to use the spa amenities for the day without a spa service, and use of the spa amenities is free with any spa service. read more

The Revive Spa at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge is a gorgeous and relaxing place. The facilities are as to be expected of a high-end resort. My only complaint is that the massage room started out much too cold for me. A couple of my co-workers had the same complaint. The star of this spa, though, is the spa bistro. One of my female co-workers and I managed to convince a couple of the guys to join us for breakfast at the bistro. They were worried it would be too "girly," but once we sat down by the lovely pool in the lovely sunshine and were served our lovely food (fruit smoothies, whole grain waffles with goji berries, omelettes, granola and fruit parfaits), even the boys were in heaven. It was such a peaceful respite from the rest of the chaotic conference going on at the time. Oh, but actually the true stars of this spa are the resident owls that watch over you from the palm trees! They are the coolest creatures and you can get awesome pictures of them if you have a zoom lens! Just don't sit on the lounge chairs directly beneath them... read more

My family owns a timeshare at the Marriot Canyon Villas and we come here every year. We usually make our way over to the JW for golf, Roys or the pool but this was our first time at the Spa. It was a ladies day and we got massages. The staff was very welcoming and the spa itself is very, clean and peaceful. There is a large locker room, a hot tub, sauna, steam room, showers. Along with shampoo, conditioner, soap, razors, hair dryers, lotion etc. Basically you can come here with nothing and get ready for the day after your treatment. My massuse was Lisa and she was very polite and did a great job. I wasn't sore after and it felt great. I was very relaxed and comfortable with her. After we took advantage of the steam room and showers which just made us feel even better. Overall a great experince, very relaxing and a nice treat on a weekend get away. read more

This spa is absolutely perfect! So beautiful, well designed, and relaxing. They have a private spa pool and cafe, where servers come to your chaise lounge while you relax poolside. If you book a treatment, you can spend the entire day there and use the gym, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, even fitness classes. I was here 3 years ago and had the best shiatsu massage ever by Kristin, and I requested her again during this trip. She is very skilled. Great place to come alone or with a group of friends. HIGHLY recommend Sami Zen - different but extremely relaxing. It's basically a detox scrub, float in a jacuzzi, light hot stone massage and mini facial. All set to Samer music and with healing ingredients. 90 min to total relaxation. Very nice facilities (excellent steam room, amenities, service from staff). Exclusive pool for spa guests only. Lap pool with floats so you can just float and relax. Service from bistro direct to chairs. Menu nice but food just ok. Açaí bowl was soupy. We came in June and it was not crowded at all - no kids allowed. Ok retail brands to purchase product. Relaxation room pre-treatment nicely decorated and comfortable, got a few bites on my legs from bugs which distracted from relaxing. read more

I went to the spa last Saturday 4/20 with a group of friends. I chose to get the "too sexy for your shoes pedicure," because I was pretty sure it was on Facebook as their pedicure special for April $55. The facility was nice and the locker rooms very nice as well. When I went to get my pedicure, things started to go wrong. Instead, of coming into the salon area and asking if I wanted a drink or magazine before I started I was rushed back to choose a color and begin. They didn't confirm the kind of pedicure I was getting or anything. The woman who did the pedicure started right away with a bit of small talk and then pretty much was silent the rest of the time, which is fine by me. The pedicure was ok, nothing great and not work the $ for sure. It was basically a cheap pedicure. When she was finished she pulled back the arm and left... never come back? Guess I am done?? One of my toes is totally crooked and she didn't ask if I wanted them cut or filed and they are bit shorter than I prefer as well. I have been to several higher end pedicures ($50-$75 each) and this was by far below average. I would say it was more like a $30 pedicure. When I checked out they said it was $60 and I questioned the price since I thought it was on special. They responded no and that was pretty much it. With the mandatory grat it came to $70.. again totally not worth it. I would recommend the Spa at Gainey Village if you are looking for an higher end pedicure for sure! read more

I had the pleasure of relaxing at this spa on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the middle of the Phoenix summer. I can't think of a better way to spend my free time and I just wish I had the funds to do it more often. This spa is tucked away on the south end of the JW Marriott Resort at Desert Ridge. The entire spa changing area was very clean and organized and there was always a friendly staff member close by to assist you with anything. I had the couples massage (gift from the guy I was dating). It was my first couples massage and probably my last. I enjoyed the actual treatment but the idea of two other people in the room made me feel a little on edge. I'm not quite sure what the deal is with the couples massage anyway. It's not like you are looking at them (the room is dark). After the massage we changed into our swimsuits and went down to the pool to relax and get a bite to eat from the spa bistro. I had a veggie burger and "spa chips". The spa chips were basically veggie chips but they were yummy as was the burger and much needed after the treatment. The pool area was very relaxing (no children) and you can even reserve the cabanas if you would like to have more room to lounge. I think more locals don't frequent this spa b/c it's quite a drive (unless you live in No. Scottsdale/No. Phoenix) but it's well worth the drive. read more

Love this spa: Revive. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, tranquil ambiance stayed with us during our entire stay, in spite of the grueling triple digit heat. We've been to other JW spas, and this one located across from the Marriott Canyon Villas is one of our favorites. To start off, Kate at the spa's front desk was the most welcoming staff. Her knowledge and professionalism regarding salon treatment and schedule was impeccable. She was very accommodating of our group of old folks who had various interests (one had a golf schedule, another had certain massage preferences, while the rest of us were torn between treatments). Without any kind of sales aggression (which we sometimes get from other spas), Kate was able to calmly meet all of our needs accordingly. The amenities here were the same as all JW spas, but the staff here are the friendliest from Mira and Alana who assisted at the women's side, to the bistro staff, who had no complaints about waiting on us (and took time to chat with us) through the grueling heat. Amenities included everything. You can leave everything at home (except your suit and hat), as seriously every thing else is included in this spa experience from mouthwash to hair creams, slippers and robes. One can expect service with a smile each day. It's the most "mature" area of the JW. Don't get me wrong; we love the lazy river and the slide, but if you want just a tranquil break from it all (ie. ahh those wonderful active kids), this is definitely the place to hang. Plus, I absolutely loved the salt water/mineral pool as I've developed allergies to chlorinated water over the years. Can't wait to return. read more

We got a 50 minute couples massage which was $300, they automatically add your 20% tip in (which I don't agree with considering I am in a customer service based occupation) the spa is beautiful, but there was no area to see each other prior, men's and women's areas are separated, and it seemed very rushed. We both asked for deep tissue and got nothing of the sort. The massage was lackluster and frustrating. I have very bad knots in my shoulders and she never even rubbed my shoulders, so I walked away with so sense of relief?!?! I would not go back to this spa, even if we come back for future trips with the timeshare. I will likely find another spa in scottsdale off of the JW Marriott resort. read more

I was really torn between 3 and 4 stars for this place. I bought my wife two treatments here for her birthday and while her second treatment was GREAT (even if it wasn't what I had bought for her) her first treatment was mediocre. I bought her reflexology and my wife described it as a mediocre food and hand rub. Having just come from Asia where she got great massages, this one was very disappointing for her. Her 90 minute spa service that was after her reflexology was GREAT! She loved it...but it was not what was described in the description. The facilities themselves also need an update. read more

I am a heavy spa user, and this one nears the top of my list. I love the pool area, that is is grassy and lots of trees. The spa itself is nicely appointed with steam and dry. The waiting room is a great place to read with comfy loungers and a fireplace. I like that the pool and spa is just for that area- no walking around all over, like at The Sanctuary. I have found pool service to be rather slow, but it still is a lovely facility. Wonderful treatments, although I do wish they had a vichy shower- so I would avoid body wraps here since it isn't the same without that amenity. read more

This is an excellent spa choice. I've visited enough across the US and love that this one is in our hometown. One of my favorite elements is the waiting lounge on the second floor. I love the uber-plush furniture, dim lighting and shaded windows (it helps you forget how miserably hot it is outside!). You'll want to move in and never leave. Treatments have always been top-notch.
