I've been coming to Revolution Skate Shop since it first opened, and it's always been my go-to spot for skate equipment. After a long time away, I finally had the chance to revisit, and I was warmly welcomed by Bella, who was assisting a family but still made sure to acknowledge me. I haven't ridden a skateboard since grade school, which was another century ago. Shhh, don't tell on me! ;-) Adored grandson, on the other hand, really enjoys riding his and working on various tricks. His original board was getting beat up and wasn't the best quality. For his birthday this spring we told him we'd finance a new one for him. We had stopped in Old Town Camarillo at Revolution Board Company before his birthday and he'd been very interested in their gear. He had even been saving up some of his own money to get a new board. Time goes by, but once school was out, I had a chance to take him back to Revolution to make good on the gift. It was fascinating to watch him interact with their on-duty skateboard expert, choosing the size of the deck, the trucks and wheels. The jargon of the sport is mostly lost on me, but I kicked back in the shop checking out the various merchandise on display. They were playing a lot of turn-of-the-millennium music, and I knew a lot of the songs. Guess what - you can get away with softly singing behind your mask. ;-) The clothing and flip flops are casual - great for the Southern California beachy vibe. The shop is clean and well organized. The staff is quick to offer assistance. The man who assembled AG's new board put it together very quickly, but checked along the way on options wanted, like leaving a small area on the non-slip covering of the deck to show the manufacturer's logo. Watching a 17 year old receive special treatment around a gift he's excited about is very satisfying. I really appreciate the way that they took such good care of him and his special purchase. He was so happy to try it out in front of the store. The trucks needed adjusting, so he went back in and they took care of it right away. Too bad. Some employees not wearing masks and there were quite a few people in the store. Thye have a nice selection and I found some things I wanted for gifts. When I asked at check out about him not wearing a mask, he was dismissive and smiling . In hind sight I should have left and taken my business to a store that is trying to follow guidelines during this difficult times for small business. How hard is it to wear a mask? It doesn't hurt, not as much as high heels, or a bra. I completed my transaction, only because, to quote David Byrne. " oh, I'm wicked and I'm lazy.." but I won't be back. read more

Stopped by to get a birthday present . I was also looking for a new bathing suit . There was lots to select from . The sales girl was super cute and used the word cheekie for describing what I didn't want in a suit . She was all masked up and the store is following all guidelines no worries here . At one point we despised Revo because they're basically Val's who used to slap stickers around Silver Strand and show up with an invasion of Barnacles in the jetty lot with zero connection to the neighborhood, but the owners can surf and it really is the best surf shop in Ventura County. Try to find your way through a blistering assault of Shakas as you fight your way through the store for some neatly folded, vibrant selection of apparel. read more

This seems like such a sick shop. A ton of great selections and awesome companies that they carry. Unfortunately I'm leaving a one star review because one of the workers had her mask completely off, not even in hand. There were 2 people in the store plus my boyfriend and I and she did not seem to care about potentially putting people's lives in danger. She even came up close to us and asked if we needed help. This company dosnt want there employees wearing masks. I used to love going here cause they carry brands that some other surf shops don't have. The first time I went in durning pandemic the manager or owner (not sure) says. "Don't wear one of those things on my behalf." I went back to give them another. I went back to give them another chance in the summer time. Young kid employee wasn't wearing a mask. I went in yesterday. Jan. 2021 in the height of this thing. Walked up to front door. Employees not wearing masks. And I walked away. I would have though a cool surf company would be all about the health movement and keeping their customers safe. It boggles my mind that they are able to stay open when poor restaurants do everything they can with the safety protocols and still get shut down. I wanted to buy a $900 surfboard here yesterday. Thank you Revolution for such an awesome experience. Came in and worked with Trevor, looking for a wetsuit for my 3yr old son. Unfortunately they didn't have his size, but gave me a solid idea where I could find. I asked Trevor about a possible alternative to a long board l, like a fun shape but with slot of volume. He walked me right over the the FireWire Timbertek Addvance. He took his time and explained all of the benefits and really knew his stuff. I ordered one right on the spot and the shop followed up with me during the week until it was in (ordered a 7'6"). Everyone was just as stoked for me when I picked it up- that's is awesome. The board surfs exactly how I wanted and I am stoked to add to my quiver. We also bought a beater board for my young daughter and she has been surfing it in the summer mush. Lots of fun. Best board shop in surrounding areas and in Camarillo. I needed a helmet for my son and every shop I went to had little to no stock and little knowledge about helmet fitting. Revolution has everything you need for surfing or skating. The woman that helped us was incredibly nice and knew how the helmet should fit on my sons head. I've shopped at this store periodically since it opened, but will never do so again. Employees don't wear masks, and appear to be unaware (in the middle of the omicron surge) that they can spread COVID even if they are asymptomatic. Friendly staff but I became extremely anxious as they were NOT wearing masks and getting way too close! I support small businesses that follow safety for all, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Why isn't any of their employees wearing masks? Then as I was checking out there was a small sign on the counter stating "some" employees have medical conditions that don't allow them to wear masks...then why is ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WEARING ONE?! What medical condition trumps receiving COVID-19 from one of their employees?! BUYERS BEWARE, DO NOT ENTER IF YOU WANT TO LIVE OR YOU MOM OR DAD OR GRANDMA OR GRANDMPA! The service is good and the staff friendly. I would give a higher rating but I noticed that only the man building the skateboards wore a mask. The young lady behind the counter had hers under her nose and the older gentleman (maybe the owner?) did not have one on. Only about 1/3 of the patrons wore masks and none of the employees said a word to them. Patrons definitely not the highest priority here. Wife bought me a wetsuit it was too small we tried to exchange but they didn't have a good fit so we asked for our money back. They said they only have a 14 day return policy and could only give store credit. That was never mentioned and we were only 20 days after we bought it. They seem overpriced too. I've bought a few boards here before. Customer service is good, however I walked in today to buy wax and there is a sign at the front register that says some of their employees cannot wear masks for "medical reasons," which is usually code for "political reasons," since there are no valid medical reasons not to wear a cloth mask. There are no signs or markers for distancing. One employee was wearing a mask, another, who was with customers in the back, was not. Because they will not take steps to protect their employees who care and their customers, I won't be shopping there... for medical reasons. read more

I came here browsing boards for my girlfriend who is a beginner. They respected my budget and my lack of space for a larger sized board. They helped me pick out a nice, used board and put the fins on for me. The employees were nice and very friendly. They have a great selection of new and used boards, including decks, clothes, GoPros and other accessories. This place is rad and I would recommend it to any experienced or beginner rider. Awesome store. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. I don't live in the area but when I'm in Ventura County I stop by here. I received good prices on a spring wetsuit, surf fines, wax, and clothing. Good advice on VC beaches. They have great clothing lines. First off I hate shopping, and more than that I hate the camarillo Outlet mall, But I need to have clothes and hopefully something that is somewhat fashionable, Thats why I like Revolution - it's perfect - its a small surf shop with good variety of clothes and not all the crowds.The service and selection i great.
