Your brother is engaged, and his fiancée's parents own a lake house in Granbury, TX. You get to go to Revolver Brewing on a Saturday. Life is good. I think I'm still kinda shocked at Revolver's business model. We arrived at their brewery just around 11 and paid $15 each for our keepsake glass and six beers with 8 oz pours each. You learn really quickly that they fill your beers almost to the top. 8 oz my ass. The staff is great and talkative, making sure you know what the beers you are getting are going to taste like. There is a ton of room on site as well. It was a muggy and misty morning (good temperatures though), but the six of us sat at a large table and were able to stay dry. There's an indoor space as well as their main brewery space and true outdoor picnic tables. Plenty of room to work with. I will spend the rest of the review talking briefly about each beer. 817 Blonde (Blonde): I started with their blonde, which was very clean and crisp and a good opening beer. Cosmo Canyon (Strawberry Lemonade Wheat Ale): Probably my favorite of all the beers. The strawberry is more subtle than their saison and kind of just adds to the flavor if anything. Blonde & Honey - Nitro (Texas Ale): Their classic Blood & Honey with nitrogen. I was warned because I guess a lot of people don't know what nitro is. It's unique. I don't fully know if a Texas Ale needs nitro, but it's a cool thing to try with your flagship beer. Yee Hops (Blackberry Lemon Saison): A fruity beer is always fun. I was told this tastes like mustard by one of my friends, but I liked it. It's never a beer I'm going out of my way to get, but it's a fun one to try. Mud Honey (Honey Dirty Blonde): Probably my second favorite behind the Cosmo. It's very light, but I really enjoyed this as well. Sidewinder (A Legacy Southwestern Pale Ale): A stronger beer to close out with. It's slightly hoppy compared to the rest, but still a classic on Revolver's roster that I'd actually never had. I think this place is a must-stop if you're ever visiting Granbury on the weekend. To be able to try so many great beers from an esteemed Texas brewery is awesome, and the barrier to entry is being 21 or older and having less than $20 in your pocket. What a steal. Revolver Brewing is absolutely worth the drive--no question about it. They feature their entire lineup of beers on tap, including several you've likely never encountered before, all poured by a team that genuinely seems to love what they do and where they work. The setup is simple and fun: purchase a wristband and enjoy a generous number of 8-ounce pours (I believe it's six), giving you the perfect opportunity to sample a wide range of brews. The atmosphere is fantastic, with plenty of picnic-style seating for groups, live music that adds to the vibe, and a gift shop full of great merch. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend an afternoon just relaxing and enjoying yourself. Unfortunately, this location is closing soon. Normally, I'd tell you to drop everything and head there--but given the circumstances, I'd say either go right now while you still can, or keep an eye out for news on their new spot. Revolver is an open-aired brewery with a large rotating selection of local beer on tap. It is family-friendly (and dog-friendly)! To purchase beer, you need a wristband which is $15 and allows you to purchase 6 8-oz beers- a pretty good deal considering they pour more like 12-oz in your 16-oz cup! You can also request samples (which is what I did since I wanted to try a lot of different beers, but knew I couldn't drink 6 full cups)! This was my first visit, but my companions noted that they replaced the free glass souvenir cups with plastic cups and beer cozies. A little disappointing, but the cups were durable enough to be reusable. Revolver has three bars; 2 inside and 1 smaller one in their undercover outdoor area. The bars have some overlapping choices but also different beers on top and so make sure to check out all of them. This visit I tried... BLOOD AND HONEY- their signature Texas ale. I enjoyed the sweet ale, even though it's 7%. They also offer Blood and Honey Light which is 4.5% and tastes the same, but with a little less alcohol taste. DEM' BERRIES- another sweet ale with strong blueberry notes. This one was very drinkable and something I'd get again. POWDERHOUSE- a black lager. I thought I would like this one as I tend to like dark beers, but this one was strange and almost savory and leathery. I preferred the SIDEWINDER (another dark ale) over this one as it was a little lighter. HEFE AND HOUND- a Hefeweizen beer. This one had a nice golden amber color and was pretty light overall. It was very drinkable, but I can't say it was very distinct tasting. LEMON AND BLACKBERRY SAIZON- this one had interesting notes of sage and lemon with subtle notes of berry. I preferred the Dem' Berries over this one as I liked the stronger fruity notes. As far as atmosphere, they have live music most of the time and a rotating food truck. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks. They have lots of picnic tables in the sun and shade as well as corn hole and a shelf of board games you can borrow (or you can bring your own!). It's very casual and relaxed. It's also very clean and the bathrooms are nice and roomy. Service was great and the bartenders are very knowledgeable about each brew- don't be afraid to ask for their recommendations or samples! This was worth the 1.5 hour drive out for sure! I've been a longtime fan of Revolver's blood and honey, so I was excited to finally make the trek out to the brewery. For $15, I got six 8 oz pours which I felt was super generous (and you also get to keep the glass as a souvenir). Every single beer I tried was great. There was a BBQ food truck on site to help offset the beer intake, but other people brought their own food which is a pro-tip I'll remember for next time. Wow! What a great place for a brewery and a fantastic place to learn about beer! Came here on Saturday just to hit up the brewery tour, and of course have some fine, fine Revolver beer. It's a pretty easy concept. Walk up, get ID'd then pay to get in. Next get your glass and start enjoying 4 of the many delicious brews they have on tap, made in house. When you stop in, make sure you bring cash for the food. You can use a credit card to enter and pay for merchandise. While you are here, they have live music and very knowledgeable people serving the beer. You can sample the beer before you commit to taking a glass. The highlight to me was the tour itself, lead by one of the founders. You learn, how Revolver was started with three guys (Dad, son and brewmaster), to the 70 employees it is today. Learn about brewing processes, canning and bottling. I have to say I had a blast and enjoyed my four beers and every minute of being here. Highly recommend! read more

Finally made the drive back out here again three years later and we had a lovely afternoon. The drive out from the Metroplex isn't bad at all, it's quite enjoyable, especially to see some greenery and less city. I was curious to see what the brewery is like now, seen though the sold to MillerCoors a few years ago, they have definitely expanded the site, made the tour facilities nicer - they now have a decent stall of restrooms, plenty of covered seating (we brought our own chairs but didn't need them, we ended up leaving them in the truck) and a new entrance way. Also an interesting water filtration system. They are one of the only few last places were you can still get in for just $10, four pours and a glass, plus live music. They are only open Saturdays 12-3pm still. On to the beers, they only have about 7 beers on taps; their flagship Blood and Honey - which tasted different to me, a pale ale, pils, bock, two IPAs and a Mexican lager. TBH I wasn't overly impressed with their beers but still had a great time. They have food vendors on site, that Saturday was Big D BBQ from Mansfield but we brought a cooler with our own food. read more

Highly recommend checking this place out! We always have a great time. There is usually a food truck available, but you can bring your own food. A live band or singer is usually going which makes it extra special. If you are a sports fan, they have a covered/enclosed area that has TVs with the top games playing. Revolver Brewing was not in our radar when we visited Dinosaur Valley Stare Park. On our way home looking for places to stop this popped up. Great price! $15 for a glass and 6 refills! Can not beat that. My only complaint was the food. It says food vendors on site but there was just 1 food truck that unfortunately only had 1 person working so lines were very slow. Knowing this in the future I will come with food. Atmosphere was great! Kid and pet friendly! Come on a cool day, shade can be hard to find and bring lawn chairs. read more

Revolver has been on my radar since their Blood and Honey hit the shelves of stores and bars all around DFW. Naturally, I am loving this craft brew renaissance that we are not only having in Texas, but all across the country, so trying out another brewery always seems like a fun time to me. A college friend was having a birthday thing out at Revolver, quite a good idea for a sunny Saturday afternoon. I didn't mind the drive to Granbury on such a nice day and of course I was a bit intrigued to try their other beers as I think the Blood and Honey is quite solid. One thing I will note for all those that might bemoan the drive to Granbury: you will have space, that is for sure. Now I love Rahr, but on a busy day things can get pretty packed, both inside the brewery as well as parking on the street. Not at Revolver, the grounds are quite large, covered with an assortment of tables with and without umbrellas, as well as a pretty massive parking area too. So grabbing a seat and a parking spot won't be an issue. OK, but who cares about that, right? We all go for the beer anyways. First thing, I love that they offer different shaped glasses and their sleek revolver pilsner glass will be a welcome addition to my already overflowing-but-homogenous collection of brewery pint glasses. The three beers I tried were their bock, little fracker, and the High Brass. I loved all three of them, with the Little Fracker being my favorite. So good beer, nice weather, and lots of space definitely makes for a great outing. Go out and support one of your local breweries by making the nice drive out to Revolver in Granbury. read more

Well this past Saturday we went to the Revolver Brewing brewery tour. Overall it was a good time. Some highs, some lows, but a good time. So here's the breakdown: Unlike other brewery tours I've been to, every person in the party does not have to pay to get in, nor be 21. If you pay ($10), you get a nice glass (that's going to be a pain to wash, see photos) and 4 half glasses* of beer. There are typically 4 or 5 beers on tap: Blood & Honey, High Brass, Bock, the newest specialty Mother's Little Fracker (a stout), and a new entry, Cinnamon Girl (brewed with cinnamon and cayenne pepper). The Cinnamon Girl was amazing, and by the time I went back for seconds it was gone. I'll definitely be looking for this one locally. Except for a few picnic tables inside, and a few under the awning, there is very little covered seating. There is a large outdoor area with picnic tables, cornhole boards and two horseshoe pits (but there were vehicles were parked in the playing area, rendering them useless). Since it had rained the night before, the entire place (including the parking area) was very soggy. If you come after a rain, don't wear your good shoes. The second surprise for me was in the food department. I was expecting one or two foods trucks, maybe even three. But when we arrived, we saw none. We were actually thinking of leaving to get food, but luckily we went inside first. Inside there was a food option. It appears that Revolver Brewing has started to cater their own brewery tour. The line up was hot dogs, pulled pork sandwich ($5), and "fajitas" (chicken or beef, $6). The pulled pork was OK. The fajitas consisted of two tortillas filled with you choice of beef or chicken. The portion size was very inconsistent, as was the amount of protein and vegetables. The consensus was we were glad there was a food option, but next time we will eat elsewhere first (or bring a lunch, which we saw others doing). Why the food trucks are gone I don't know, but it was a very nice feature in the past and one that I thought helped showcase other local talents. There was live music. Today (3/30/13) I believe the band was "One Night Stand". The band was good, hitting a variety of music, mostly older rock, but some newer stuff too. And although signage says "no pets", plenty of people brought their dogs. Bottom line: Definitely a great way to spend a Saturday Afternoon, but come summer it's going to hot out in that field. * Actually if you arrive before 2PM you receive 4 4-oz tasting, after 2PM you get 2 8-oz tastings. read more

We had a great time at the Revolver Brewing on a Saturday afternoon out in Granbury. We finally decided to go to the brewery we have tried the beer before and love going to breweries. Only thing that has kept us from going before or more often is the drive. It took us 45 minutes to get there. But it is worth the drive. The place is set up very nice they have a big outdoor area with tables to sit at and a stage for live music. The large indoor area has 2 bars to get wonderful beer at. For 10 dollars you get a nice beer glass and 4 partial glasses full of beers. It is a great way to try the different Revolver beers. They had around 5 choices of beer the day we went. I found my favorite the Highbrass nice medium body not to strong with hops flavor. They did have food the day we went but the food was not advertised so we ate first. So I guess you need to call first if you want to eat there. They also have a small gift shop and a tour to take. I really like this place very nice plenty of room a great place to hang out on a Saturday afternoon. It is a drive from Fort Worth but it is worth the drive. And you won't be disappointed. Great place to enjoy a Saturday in close vicinity of Dallas. Lot of variety of beer available for tasting, each of them tastes amazing, staff is super friendly. Each beer had a unique taste. We liked blood and honey the most. We were surprised that they only charge $10 a person, considering what's on offer - brewery tour, a sovenier glass, 4 beers of choice , music performances, super economical food vendor, and a well maintained place to enjoy picnic. And if you're lucky like we were today, you'll also get to enjoy a special performance - they had a Troupe from Arlington specially come in for performance today to celebrate Chinese New Year. They played pretty energetic music, and performed traditional dance with Tiger costumes. The brewmaster himself was available to answer queries and explain the process. We had a long interaction with him. They've installed a lot of picnic tables in open as well as in the shade and have a decent open ground in the middle of the brewery. Alright first off, if you live here in Texas, you most likely have either heard of or tasted Blood & Honey. It's one of the most recognized & popular beers around. I had come here on a Saturday & it had such an awesome, relaxing atmosphere. For only $10, you can get four pours & a glass! Can't go wrong with that! They got a lot of sitting space & live music as well. The beer tasting itself is outstanding. You can tell the staff there know & thoroughly enjoy brewing beer. It's noticeable they put in the work & dedication to produce a flavorful brew. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them because they'll definitely assist in describing the craft behind each brew. As I mentioned above, the Blood & Honey is their most popular in my opinion. It's a deep-golden ale that involves Texas honey & a blood orange peel. So good! One of my other favorites I've had with friends is their Full-Tang IPA, which is an American IPA brewed with tangerine peels. It has an awesome citrusy hop flavor. I've recently been into Hazy IPA, and if you enjoy those too, don't forget to try out their Hop Device IPA. It's extraordinary & provides intense tropical notes. In addition to their year-round brews, they also have Limited Releases and Rarewood Barrel-Aged beers. I haven't had a chance to try those out but will definitely be back to try them out! read more

What's better than a sunny Texas summer afternoon with friends, beer, and Big Tony's homemade BBQ!? I'd had Revolver's Blood & Honey several times and recently found out that their brewery was open for tours at Yelp's Summer Lovin' event. After planning for a several weeks, we finally got a big group out to Granbury for the weekly Saturday brewery tour at Revolver Brewing. We arrived early around 11:30 (the drive from Dallas is about an hour and 20 minutes) and watched the band set up and Big Tony prepare their delicious smoked BBQ. The places opens a few minutes before noon and I definitely suggest arriving early. For $10, you get 4-8 oz tastings and a souvenir glass to take home. They also sell some pretty cool Revolver merchandise like hats and shirts. You can hang out around the brewery at your leisure and get your samples at your own pace. In the first 45 minutes, there was no line for samples but after that, the place was pretty packed with about 300 people although the line only took 5 minutes for your next samples. Around 1:30 there was the assistant brewer on the microphone giving the the tour portion of the day. We hung around inside until about 2 pm and then headed out side for Big Tony's BBQ. For $5 you got chips and a homemade sandwich. I had the sliced brisket which was INCREDIBLE! The website said there are food trucks on site but that was not the case on this day. Overall, we had a really fun time out at Revolver Brewing. It's an all around great true Texan experience. Everything from the live music, great beer, and BBQ makes it an excellent setting for a weekend outing. It's also a great place to bring out-of-towners. It's a bit of a drive from Dallas but I certainly would be happy to return again! read more

Our first visit to Revolver and we will definitely be back. It helped that we had a gorgeous day. The setup and atmosphere are 5 STAR all the way. They had about 10 choices of beer including seltzer and ranch water. You get 6 8 oz with your admission. There was 1 food truck on site. It was southwest style(sorry I can't remember the name - cactus something.). But it was killer. The draw back was standing in a line for about an hour to get it. Strongly recommend you bring your own food. Make a picnic or run though a drive through first . Unfortunately, having Celiac Disease means NO BEER for me, unless it's made gluten-free of course. So if you're looking for detailed descriptions on the varied flavors of Revolver's great beer, I cannot be of service. BUT, what I can tell you about is Revolver Brewery's spectacular staff and spirit. I had the opportunity to go to Revolver's Grand Opening at their home in Granbury, and the event was a sure success. Each guest received a wristband, and with it came 5 small glasses of beer. Outside there was food trucks and seating, and inside you were able to take a small tour of the brewery and learn about the brewing process. The only downside to the day was the seriously long beer line - but ultimately, that's a good thing. Those people wanted their beer... I don't think anyone left without getting their 5 samples first! I was able to chat with multiple staff members of Revolver, including owners and the Brew Master himself. The important and exciting thing about this Revolver is how dedicated, proud, and thrilled its inventors are. These people are devoted to their product, and it shows. read more

We're crazy and decided to visit Revolver in the middle of another scorching Texas Summer, but still had a grand time! The employees were incredibly nice and knowledgeable, and the "tour" (the brewery is on the small side, so it's more of a gathering around a speaker on a ladder - no complaints at all, though!) was informative and fun. As always, the beer was perfection. My friends and I also appreciated that they had an amazing taco vendor on site that day with delicious food and cold drinks. P.S. Staying at the Nutt House Hotel nearby is highly recommended! It's a charming, comfy place with personality and a candy shop on the ground floor! read more

Loved loved loved this spot! I work in Cresson but go back home to Houston on weekends, I was finally in town on a saturday and able to experience this fun hangout! Great deal of $10 for 4 tastings and a glass. You can only have one anodyne though, since it's high alcohol content. Make sure to bring cash for food and water (especially on these hot summer days) - however the gift shop was able to give me cash back. I only gave them 4 stars due to lack of free and accessible water. When we went the free dispenser they had was out and we had to change the bottle ourselves, plus it was warm and in tiny cups. Wonderful spacious location :50 minutes south west of Fort Worth on the outskirts of Granbury. Plenty of parking, but all on dirt. Huge picnic/patio area, dog (on leash) friendly, with fire pits & game areas (horseshoe/washer board). Enough on the outside, $7.00 gets you 4 tastes (4 oz +/- each) and a logo glass. Each of the beers were outstanding with a notable unique one being the Blood & Honey. I won't profess to be some kind of connoisseur, but it was refreshing, full of spices and sweet all at the same time. The food on our visit was street style tacos or pulled pork on a bun ($5.00 & $6.00 respectively). Had the tacos & a bag of Frito's let's just say the Frito's were the standout on that meal, but 'eh we were hungry and there for the tasting. Overall great place, & experience. I recently attended their 5-year anniversary party and it was great; a lot of fun! They have a large outdoor space in the Texas Hill Country (I felt it with their outdoor Fall decor, straw strewn about the grounds, and the giant windmill) and a spacious interior with plenty of bench style seating. For the party they went all out, with live music (a great band!), a barbecue food trailer, fire pit, corn hole games, and a large rock mound that the kids loved playing on. Everything was well laid out and organized, considering the size of the event and the number of attendees. They had different beer stations and gave out a map listing what beers where at what stations. The barrel-aged and limited release line was long but they came through the line with pitchers to pour, which really cut down on the overall wait time (if your selection was not one of the pitchers poured). read more

I have been to several breweries and I always skip out on the tour so I can't speak for that. Everyone has their own flavor or beer they prefer. The beer tasting is outstanding - in both quality and quantity. And whoa! What a happy, nice staff! We did not take the tour, alas, it was not that kind of a day. It was a day to sit outside and enjoy great beer and people watching, including some expert Giant Jenga players just a few feet over. The outdoor space is perfect for relaxing. MY FAVORITE BREWERY! The only downside is that it's 2 hours away from where we live. $10 gets you your entry fee/4 full size beers/a revolver pilsner glass. The inside is super spacious and has some great spaces for pictures, the "tour" is just a talk where the master brewer goes into depth on their process which was great. There was only 1 bar area open when I had gone (I saw another). There were 3-4 options for food and were $6 a piece which was a solid price for what we got. The outdoor space is where its at though, kids can run around and play/washers/corn hole/etc, a live band, lots of seating - some under a shaded structure - some under umbrellas and some in the sun. I would suggest getting there 10 minutes early because parking and beer. Duh. We stopped at Whataburger after because lord knows I was feelin' it. Definitely need to go back read more
