We were super excited to find this place during our visit and found out they've been open about 3 years. We got there pretty close to opening at 6pm on Friday night and were the first ones there. The design of the bar is pretty neat and feels like you're in a friends basement or a video store back in the 90s. They have free gameplay (we played nintendo 64) on a few systems as long as you're drinking, which is pretty sweet. I enjoyed the Kel's orange soda which is basically fanta with vanilla vodka and we each all had an adult fun juice and both were pretty solid. No food but they do have a snack machine with chips a few basic things which I definitely took advantage of. By the time we left, all the game systems were occupied and there were about 20ish people there. read more

Doesn't get busy till 8-9ish. Very fun ambiance and good drinks! Great place for dates or to hang out with friends. A little bit older crowd (as you would maybe expect from NKC and a 90s themed place) most people were in their 30s+. read more

This is such a fun dive bar. It's like stepping right back into the 90's. The walls are covered in posters and comics as you descend into the basement of this back alley dive bar. There's plenty of neon lights and old tv's with analog consoles to light up the place. There's couches and tables to sit at. You can request different games at the bar and all the games are free to play. We opted for a little super Mario kart and wheel of fortune on the N64. They don't have food but they have plenty of beverages. Beer-craft and domestic, cocktail's, and even adult capri suns. They do rotate the flavors. The one we tried had lots of peach schnapps but we didn't ask what it was exactly. They also occasionally do fun pop ups. There was a Sunny D event with giveaways and snacks and even an orange carpet rolled out. This place is definitely a chill hang. read more

What a fun, unique addition to North Kansas City. Rewind is a dive bar to the tune of the 90s. Browse old DVDs and VHS or play some Super Smash Bro on N64. They have old console TV's with a variety of old game systems to play. They host bingo night and have various board games. Even the drink menu is on a DVD case. Went here to check out this new dive bar that opened in the summer of 22. Cozy vibes. Entrance in in the back and it's a basement. Everything feels very nostalgic. Love the 90s themed. Reminds me of my childhood. You can also played your favorite board, card, or video games. Plenty to drink from the bar too. I like how they have the quirks from Blvd. Yummy. If you're done, definitely go check out a movie and the screen land. Good, decent price movie foods and drinks. read more

A lot of us like drinks and like secret, hidden spots. But often, all the cool underground bars / speakeasies are pretentious and pricy. Rewind Video - hidden both behind and under Screenland Armour - is neither. Rewind Video is an old school video rental shop, your parents' basement in the 90s, and a speakeasy all rolled into one. The service is great, the concept is so cool, they sell the theme well. The drinks aren't anything special but you're here for an experience and they deliver it. read more

Awesome new dive bar underneath Screenland Armour that's open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Enter through an alley from the parking lot behind the movie theater, and you're transported to the 90s. The walls are covered in movie posters and neon lights. There's a whole video room with tons of DVDs and VHSs. Couches in the back surrounding TVs with old gaming systems. You can leave your ID at the bar to check out games and controllers. Definitely recommend grabbing an adult capri sun from the bar and challenging some strangers to beat you in Mario Kart. If you're seeing a movie at the Screenland Armour on the weekend, I definitely recommend adventuring down to the bar before or after your movie. It's honestly hard to give them one star but there's no option for zero. I don't know how a place can be so boring even under the influence. The vibes were off, the drink was the only good thing. And that took forever. I was literally there for 15 minutes and left. Its so disappointing because the place looks so cool but it's just not worth it. Wouldn't waste your time here, there are much better bars in KC. read more

The waitress asked if we wanted her to take it back... of course we didn't want to eat it... But you could tell she didn't want us to say "please take it back". Note to Servers: the next time you have a plate of undesirable food, please don't leave it up to the guest to send food back (like she did), just pick up the plate and say you'll make it right. We hate complaining and rarely say if we don't like something. So, we just tried to eat it, but couldn't. And we regretted that decision the rest of the day. Oh well, we certainly won't be returning here again.

It turned out that bartender's name was Becky, and she's 1/2 of the couple who owns the bar. The other half is her husband, Waylan, who showed up later at the end of our visit. "Having a name like Waylan is like having the biggest cock," she said. Or maybe it was B who said that, I don't remember and my notes aren't very clear. :) There is quite a collection of bras on the bar, a recent development. "A while back one of the customers just up and took her bra off, and said she wanted to hang it up. So we did. Then other ladies started doing it," Becky explained. "Now boxer shorts have even started to join the collection." We ended up spending out entire visit chatting with the bartender about their history with the bar. We really enjoyed our time here. In addition to the great personalities, this is a fun-looking bar all around and I'de love to visit again when it's busier. In fact, here's how good a time we had -- when we first arrived we noticed the Silver Strike machine and put a few dollars in it to play. But we never got around to actually doing so! :)

From Oak it looks like a standard one-story strip mall with nothing behind it. But it turns out there's a sharp drop in the hill and there is indeed a lower level around back. Lost Bar is a small, dark, smokey dive -- exactly what you'd expect such a well-hidden place to be. There's pool tables, games, and a small stage. There seems to be a well-knit group of regulars. Our bartender was very friendly and pleasant. Beer was poured cold and at just the right price: cheap! I really enjoyed my visit here and will be back.

They were helpful on picking some food items as well as drinks. The drinks were well balanced and the food was accurately described. Knowing it's from pierpont, I knew it would be good! I will definitely be keeping an eye on the future themes to join in on in the future!

A favorite happy hour haunt...my work pals and I call this place "Paradise" for a reason, and it's…read morenot , unbelievably, just because it has dirt cheap draught beer and a guy who frequently comes in with his adorable Boston terrier that apparently has the run of the bar...it's because the bartenders are soooo freakin' nice (and the regulars put up with our loud antics). Who else will let you run a tab to order 75-cent draws? The overall feel is like being in somebody's basement rec room...if they have a juke box in said rec room filled with Tom Waits and Ramones stuff and smoke a lot of Basic Lights. It ain't fancy...I believe the lot is gravel, and it's the sort of place where the "top shelf" liquor might just be brown liquid in a clear bottle with a piece of masking tape marked "whiskey"...but it's sitting on the top shelf, eh? But who are we kidding, you're gonna get the Busch that's on tap, anyway and play some shuffleboard. Don't get yourself overserved (the KCPD metro south patrol division is just down the street), or, if you do, hang out and play with the Boston terrier for a while until you sober up.

After a 14 month Covid hiatus, a fully vaccinated co-worker and myself were ready to finally do a…read morelittle bar hopping. Our Uber took us to one of my favorite neighborhoods - Strawberry Hill. Of the 5 places we stopped at, Sammy's was the only one that I had not previously been to. It is also the only stop that I see myself not returning too. The joint is pretty small with a long wooden bar and the atmosphere is old school neighborhood dive bar. Equally as small was the hospitality from the lady behind the bar. We seemed to be interrupting her Candy Crush game or Facebook scrolling and she was in no mood for small talk, friendliness or any form of positive customer interaction that one expects when entering a watering hole. We ended up taking our beers outside to their less than spectacular patio, and left as soon as we could for a very cool experience 2 blocks north at the Colonial Club.

We came here during the tail end of spring and hence we had what was available here at the time. I had the Al Mascrapone drink. Very nice strawberry touch to it. Delicious. The service is prompt and friendly. I also enjoyed decor and it's motif to the era of prohibition.
