I've driven by Rex Cleaners a million times since moving back but never stopped in. When we needed a dry cleaner I called them up and they were super helpful and nice. I stopped in and dropped off a few items. They were able to make the turn around time I needed and the price was right. They have a few parking spots in front as well as street parking. The usual turn around time is 3 days but if you need it faster just let them know. They have done a great job with all the stuff we have dropped of. Happy we found Rex Cleaners! read more

Absolutely amazing!! Called in and asked for some prices as I've never been here before. The lady who answered was super nice and friendly, I wanted some slacks and a men's shirt pressed only and she said if I brought it in that morning ( 8am Fri) then I could have it back within 10 mins. Told her I would be on my way! =) Once I arrived, the location has private parking only for customers. Inside is very old and smells like the 50s ;) Although very clean and tidy! Hey I can deal with that!! The same woman comes to help me once I arrive and she said it would be 7 dollars total to press, as if I were getting the items dry cleaned then it would be cheaper (2.10) per shirt instead of 3.50 because they ship their clothes to a laundrymat that does all the washing for them at a lower price. I told her it's totally fine, I just need pressing this time. She was very helpful and the clothes were actually done within 5 mins!! Definitely coming back here for future pressing and cleaning! My short experience with Rex Cleaners was a great one. I came here to pick up dry cleaning for someone and the process went by really fast. The lady behind the counter was friendly. You can find parking near a parking lot across the street or just park on the street. There's a total of about four cars that could fit in Rex's parking lot. Really gotta thank Adam D. for writing a review and telling me about this place, because they are in fact fantastic. I took a pair of suit pants in that I believed that I thought were un-salvageable (I spilled ketchup on it, and in a stroke of genius decided that scrubbing it with a coarse sponge + toothpaste would help. It did not), just to get a sort of consultation on how to clean it in the future. Instead, they took it from me and told me everything would be fine, and told me to come back in 2 days. 2 days later, the pants were dry cleaned, creased, and perfectly usable again. Holy crap. These were not small stains -- they were large splotchy white marks from scrubbing, and somehow they got it to look as good as new again. I'm no expert, but as someone who thought I would have to abandon them altogether, I have to say that I'm impressed. All this for $5. And no tax. Fabulous. I'll be back for sure. read more

If you are going down Santa Clara Ave and making a left onto race street, the place can be easily missed as I saw another dry cleaning place and thought I missed it. I drove around again and finally found it after I really looked to the right. Going the other way on Race Ave, I found the sign easily. Anyways the guy Kevin was really nice and gave me a quote on the phone, $12.50 to dry clean a suit and $3.50 for a tie. I am used to the cheap dry cleaners around my place, but I guess this is the norm of what they charge up here. Anyways they told me my suit will be ready on Thursday in the afternoon and so it usually takes them around a business day and a day to do the dry cleaning. He was really nice. When I went to pick up my items, there was a woman that work there. I greeted here while I wait for my clothing, but no response. I figured she was busy and did not get to me until she go the other dry cleaning ready.Anyways I finally got my suits and ties and the spots are gone as well as the wrinkles in my suit too. I have been getting my pants cleaned here for over 3 months and they always have good return times for my dry cleaning (2-3 days) as well as good prices. I was looking for a dry cleaner nearby, but 2 around me happened to be closed. I finally decided to use Yelp's "open" filter feature and came across this business. I called just to make sure it was open, and he said they closed in 7 minutes (I was 8 minutes away...eek!). He agreed to keep the shop open for me and I made it just in time. I needed 2 dress shirts cleaned and needed it by tomorrow. Clearly I'm unfamiliar with typical turnarounds, because he made an exception for me and was able to get it cleaned within 24 hrs. I was really impressed with this cleaners. I had dropped a couple shirts and a dress off and they had them back to me in two days. On top of it, I had spilled red wine on one of my shirts and didn't think it would come out. I was so happy when I got my shirt back and the stain was gone! Since this was the first time that I needed to dry clean my clothing items, I turned to Yelp to find a nearby reputable dry cleaners and found Rex Cleaners. Stopped by on my day off, dropped off my items and took my ticket home, they gave me a date to pick up. Went back a few days later with my ticket and got my items (several dresses, a jacket, couple skirts, and a scarf) and was so excited! Best $50 I've spent in awhile. Everything looked wonderful, all ironed and clean and cat hair free. So I might not be the most reliable review in that I don't have previous dry cleaning experience, can't compare prices and quality to other locations, but I am a happy customer so that's what's important. Not only do they dry clean but they also have a seamstress that sewed up my dresses. I had a skirt that had a piece of leather on it that caused the skirt to dye. While they weren't able to get the stain out, all of the staff were familiar with the skirt and offered me other options such as removing the leather piece for cleaning. I usually won't take the time to review a drying cleaning establishment, after all what's there to say, they all seem the same. However, after doing business with Rex Cleaners I was motivated to share my positive experience on two occasions thus far. The place is more expensive than I am used to, but the results are worth every penny. At other places, when I drop off my Hugo Boss suites, I cross my fingers that they don't vanish or are improperly dry cleaned. At Rex's, I drop everything off and never worry. The results are evident on the garments and shirts, perfectly pressed and fresh. The order is always completed per the quoted time, so I don't bother calling to confirm before I head over to pick them up. Also, alteration services are available, which makes it very convenient. They even provide recommendations on how to lay the clothing in your car to prevent them from wrinkling on the way home. They really appreciate when I bring back the recycled hangers, as they donate them to schools as art material. Finally, the staff is super friendly and communication is not an issue. read more

Okay! The Captain admits, this review simply isn't funny. How can it be! It's just dry cleaning which was very well done, and reasonably priced. BUT IT'S STILL PLAIN OLD DRYCLEANING! The Captain can't say a lot about these folks, except, he really likes them, and despite it being a long way from where we live and work, we will happily make the journey today, as well as in the future. The joint is owned by a fellow named Kevin, whose daughter is a champion exhibition horse rider. I know this because many pictures of this great horsewoman are displayed behind the counter along with quite a few ribbons she has received during competition. Dry cleaning is something few think about until they're in need. Ma Megabyte had 3 wool overcoats, and a genuine air force flight jacket which needed special attention. We dropped em off, and picked em up a few days later. The bill was quite modest considering the quality of this place. A final note about the neighborhood it's in. The North end of Race street between Park avenue and The Alameda, feels a little like a time warp. The street is narrow, and most of the buildings appear to be of thirties vintage and older. It's hard to describe, it's just a feeling you get when you've just discovered a tiny enclave of old, small-town San Jose. Many cool small business are located here, including the venerable Race Street Fish Market. Ma and I are suckers for nostalgic places and I will take her there soon. This place is definitely the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and I found it!!! Well, thanks to YELP of course :) Did my search for a cleaner in the area, and Rex Cleaners came up. I am always a little leery with dropping off my garments at new places since, 1) I don't have very many articles of clothing 2) The articles of clothing I DO have are up there in price range and usually require dry cleaning 3) I've had garments stolen from me and ruined by the cleaners in past experiences with other businesses. Sucks. Big Time. Well it was time for me to take my clothes in for some cleaning, and I was running out of things to wear and put together, so I sucked it up and paid Rex Cleaners a visit. I initially dropped off just a couple items and was impressed by the quick turn-around. Picked up my things a few days later and was ecstatic that they were able to remove a stain that had been on a white top I had for nearly two months. (That's how long it took me to buckle down and look for a good cleaner). I immediately went back to drop off a few more items along with a white dress my mom had needed dry-cleaned for probably about a year. There were all kinds of stains on it. Rex Cleaners was able to restore her dress back to the 'department store white' she had known the dress to be when she bought it! That's exciting!! They even sewed on a button I had lost on my sport coat at no extra charge. Now, that's EXCELLENT customer service!! The same lady helped me out every time I went. After my dog got some crazy stains on my comforter I needed some place to have it cleaned. It's a king size comforter and has a lot of white on it, the spots were pretty obviously. I dropped the comforter off on Monday and picked it up Thursday after 3:00. The man who checked me out said that he did his best and there still might be some evidence of the stains. However, when I got home the comforter was spotless. I was charged $25 for the comforter. I'd say thats reasonable. The turn around time didn't bother me to much. Another day and I might not be happy. The overall result is great. I will be coming back here again. read more

I have a confession to make. I've never used the dry cleaners in my life, so I had no idea what to do when I dropped off my clothes, but the woman there was very nice and helpful. Here's the breakdown of prices: Pressed shawl - $4.50 Pressed female Indian silk pant and blouse - $7.50 Dry clean short dress - $8.50 Dry clean and remove dye stains from blazer - $7.50 Total: $28.00 Holy crap I thought this was expensive. I lived in the Chicago area where they can do the same job for half the price. *shaking fist* Damn you Bay Area!!! Buuuut, they did a fantastic job. I haven't worn my blazer for over a year because of the stains and they make it squeaky clean. I was afraid of messing up my silk outfit, so I trusted these guys to take good care of it, and they did! Genuinely friendly people too. Some business owners don't realize how important customer service is, but Rex Cleaners does! So bottom line: For things I really HAVE to dry clean I would definitely come back here. Otherwise, I will wear my clothes until they either get stained or smell like hell then HAVE to get dry cleaned. read more

I have no idea how much Rex pays people to write these positive reviews but I will tell you honestly how much of a crook this man really is! Also this guy makes excuses for his mistakes instead of fixing them. Here let me give you an example... I brought in some suit pants to have them altered ( Let Out) and on my receipt it shows the price of $12 which is fair and market value... When I arrived he says total is $30 DOLLARS!!!! Thats a long shot from $12 which it shows on my receipt. Rex says sorry it was busy when you were in here to drop these off I must of forgot to write down the extra price??? Are you kidding me??? No one was there when I dropped it off. I also dropped off two ties to get the wrinkles out.. Rex said one had a stain which is weird they both were never worn but I said thanks for cleaning it for me... When I get home the ties are still wrinkled... This place is a RIPOFF and the owner is a PRICK. Do the right thing go somewhere else unless you have a 6 figure salary and like old men taking advantage of you! read more

I'd had reasonably good experiences with Rex Cleaners a few times, but unfortunately they almost destroyed a $200 Theory shirt, and I cannot continue giving them my business. I have a beautiful light blue dress shirt, which is an essential part of every man's wardrobe. After retrieving it from Rex, I prepared to wear it, at which point I noticed two things. Brown splotchy stains near a tracking tag they put on the inside (more on this later), and a bigger stain on the front. The shirt was basically unwearable. I took it back to Rex cleaners, asking if their tracking tags could have possibly leaked and caused this stain? They assured me that was impossible, but they'd be happy to try to remove the stain. Being that it was only $5 to remove the stain, I figured I'd give them one last chance. Upon receiving the shirt, the stains were still there. They assured me once again that it was impossible that they could have caused the stain. I was prepared to dispose of the shirt, and buy another one, since I'm not going to walk around with what looks like a giant poo stain on my shirt. Now what are these tracking tags I'm talking about? Basically they stick a tag of some sort to the inside of your shirt to "track" your item among multiple visits, and leave it there when they return it to you. The tag is affixed with a particularly strong adhesive that leaves marks if you try and remove it. When I received my shirt back the second time, not only was the tag there, but they had driven a pair of staples through my shirt as well. I really don't appreciate *staples* in my shirt. The last thing I want to point out is the long turnaround time. It's usually a 3 - 4 day wait to get your items back. This is in contrast to 1 or 2 days at many other places. Anyways, I was able to get the stain removed with another dry cleaner. But I would have to recommend using Rex Cleaners with extreme caution. read more

I love this place! After finally getting the courage to bring my dry cleaning to a new spot + with the help of my cousin's recommendation, I've found my new dry cleaners where I will be coming regularly. I always get reluctant to bring my precious clothes to new places for fear of them getting ruined, but after running out of clothes to wear I finally got the courage to come here. I dropped off my clothes, plus my husband's suit, his jacket, and his wool sweater (which to our unknown knowledge had a few month balls--I know, gross!) on a Tuesday afternoon and that Thursday afternoon had all our items back. The lady was even kind enough to sew my husband's holes in his sweater free of charge and when we looked at his sweater it looked good as new. After a catastrophe with a very expensive, ruined dress two days before a wedding at another cleaners, i have avoided all dry-cleaners completely. My boyfriend has a new job though where he wears a suit & tie, so after yelping we went here. The owner (i assume he is the owner) is extremely nice, and advised us on if we needed dry-cleaning or laundering (we're dryclean n00bs). Eek, me thinks not is right! They did a great job with my comforter but the customer service was horrible!!! I looked up a dry cleaners on yelp and found this place to have my comforter cleaned. It looked like a great place and conveniently located to my work/home. I dropped off my comforter on a Monday afternoon and was given a receipt but the associate who assisted me did not ask for my phone number or any other information. She just told me it would be ready on Thursday evening. I returned on Friday afternoon and was assisted by another woman, I think she might have been the owner's wife but she was entirely and with no good cause...extremely rude! She lectured me on how I should take better care of my comforter, and then charged me more for the extra labor (which I would have nooo problem paying more for but she was so snappy and rude). I just told her that if they were going to charge me more, then I thought I should have been notified via phone when they decided to do more labor. She snapped that they didn't have my phone number and said "well pay if you want" to which I said that wasn't my fault and that because she was so rude, I wouldn't pay the extra fee. It is common courtesy to make a phone call when a change is being made to a customer's service and this lady clearly didn't have any etiquette to address that mistake appropriately, and instead placed the blame on the customer. I totally relied on yelp's review when I chose this place for my wedding dress cleaning and my bridesmaid's dress cleaning. After my experience with Rex, I felt that this place was overrated for the following reasons. 1. Not friendly at all- 2. They tried to add more service on when I only needed simple pressing on the dress. 3. Long turnaround time - it took more than 2 months to get it done 4. Lack of communication- They never called me for follow-up (although they promised me to call back for pickup date) or even when my wedding dress was ready.
