Albondigas is where it's at. I make my own and I think it's pretty good. But I have to say Reyes Market is by far better than my own. The food is good but their portions have gone down ! every time I order a burrito I mostly get rice and beans and barely any meat! Reyes get it together stop being cheap!!! From out of town and staying down the street. We ordered potato tacos and carne asada tacos. Very good but a bit pricey. Service was fast and friendly. They have a little outdoor seating area to eat that was very clean and everyone was wearing masks and respecting social distance. Great place for authentic Mexican food. read more

First time walking around Carpinteria and checking out all the shops in town. Saw this market while walking off lunch and looked in to see what they had available. Noticed in the back they sold cooked food so Decided to come back later. Ordered the supreme carne asada burrito w/o the sour cream and it was so dang good. It had rice, beans, beef, salsa. I always worry about burritos w beans because sometimes it's too much and overpowers the burrito, but not in this case. Burrito was huge and I could definitely taste the really great flavored meat. It had just the right amount of ingredients and you could really make out the great taste of it all. Would definitely eat here again. Also ordered horchata and Jamaica - horchata was threat, not too sweet and not too thick which was prefect; Jamaica was just ok, very sweet and not much of the original Jamaica flavor. My granddaughter doesn't eat meat and their quesadillas in handmade tortillas were good too. I highly recommend the potato tacos,those were my favorite. The owner was so friendly and helpful explaining the menu to us. Our waitress was so friendly and went way beyond in her customer service. It's a good sign when the menu is in Spanish and you see a steady stream of folks coming into the joint to grab a burrito to go or a plate of tacos to eat on the patio or in the market itself. There seems always to be a short line, but it goes quickly. The burritos are good, but they aren't well folded and fall apart almost right away. The carne asada was also a little grisly. The bean and cheese had the right ratio of beans to cheese, but would be even better with the addition of onions and cilantro. If you eat in, they bring you your food with two big squeeze bottles of salsa. That's a great touch! read more

Super authentic, really delicious Mexican food made with care by a locally owned spot. They also stock tons of specialty Mexican products I've only seen in Mexico before. (And other quality Mexican markets in the US) You can get any of their amazing salsas (red chile, tomatillo, or habanero) in bulk, up to 32oz, which is dope. I don't know if they make their own tortillas or not but they are also amazing. I look forward to trying more food here. Will report again after I try the chile verde ribs. read more

In my never ending quest for great salsa and California Mexican food, I stopped here since it has outdoor tables and a salsa bar- two necessities. My shrimp taco was loaded with fresh avocado and ample toppings but the pico de gallo and toppings were pretty bland. The pico de gallo was watery, and I doused it in tapatio sauce to get some zing. I was pretty disappointed in their Albondigas soup. My gf spoke so highly of this place and that's why I am giving them a 3 stars instead of 2.5 stars. The meatballs were good but the soup was bland and tasteless. They only gave me salsa on the side and no onions, cilantro, or rice, just tortillas. Usually the good Mexican places I go too have a nice salsa bar you can add pickled chilis and carrots, cucumbers, and turnips. But not here and no extra salsa like avocado, chipotle, just the normal green and red style salsa. I think it's either was really late and they forgot how to cook or the chef was sick but I am just being nice and giving them the benefit of the doubt.
