This was the best night ever! I came here for the Arkansas Country Music Awards. I felt like a celebrity among celebrities. This was a special night where my father in-law's childhood best friend was getting inducted for "I hope you dance" by Lee Ann Womack (which I got to meet at the after party) and many other songs and artists in his long career. I got to mingle with a bunch of musicians and celebrities and I was just a magical night. As for the venue itself, it's very nice and has two levels. Perfect for music events or even theater plays. Bathroom were a bit outdated but they were clean. Overall it's a great venue and hold a good amount of people. read more

History

Established in 2000.

UCA Public Appearances is a division of the University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. Its primary responsibility is to develop and present performing arts programming to the entire Central Arkansas community. Public Appearances' home is the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall - a 1,200 seat, state-of-of-the-art theatre. Reynolds Performance Hall opened on September 15, 2000, with a sold-out concert by the late Ray Charles. Since then, Reynolds Performance Hall has hosted numerous celebrities, including Bill Nye, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Wynonna Judd, Loretta Lynn, the Temptations, Gladys Knight, Glen Campbell, Spike Lee, Nicholas Sparks, Frankie Valli, and Wynton Marsalis. Public Appearances has also presented national tours such as Mamma Mia!, Cabaret, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Rent, and international touring companies such as the Russian National Ballet, Sowetto Gospel Choir, and the National Symphony Orchestra.

I have been coming to Kings for almost 20 years, since they opened. I had a horrible experience…read moretonight. You have to show ID and they like to stamp folks. They had a new security guard. I don't like to get that ink on my body and I told him I didn't want to get stamped. Ordered a drink was there for at least an hour before Manager came up to me and told me I needed to get stamped. I asked if I could get stamped on a napkin or something else because I don't want my body stamped. She said I had to have a stamp on my body. At that point, I objected as I've always been allowed to go without a stamp. I am 55 years old and it's obvious I am of age to drink. This harassment is ridiculous. I was banned from the establishment for my refusal to get a stamp and even if I was allowed back would never return. Keep treating customers like this kings and you'll be out of business before long.

If you find a beat up, used guitar at a pawn shop Jack's price on the same model of brand new is cheaper. The staff won't try to sell you things you don't need. Lessons at Jack's are affordable and very useful. As for the Fender knockoff comment in the other review, if you call a Martin a Fender knockoff, I guess that's right. Accessories at Jack's, cases, straps, strings, books, etc are cheaply priced. Far and away the best music shop in the area.
