I think this is where it falls apart for me. All of the reviews I read bragged about the bar and from the pictures, it looked pretty enticing. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see it because it sits behind a speakeasy style bookcase entrance that is marked "private". As a member of a lounge, I can appreciate exclusivity and an experience that feels elevated. However... it would have been nice to at least been invited to see the private area, especially since the bar literally lives there. Imagine having a huge selection of spirits and regulating non-regulars to a menu that doesn't include the selection! Don't get me wrong, I had a decent old fashioned but I have no idea what kind of bourbon was used. I take full responsibility. I should have asked but it would have been nice to be invited. I made it known when I walked in that it was my first visit and the gentleman that helped me was friendly. After more research, I learned that there is a fee for temporary access to the private area at the owner's discretion. I would have gladly paid - if I was offered. I know this review is all over the place, but that's the experience I had. It was far from horrible but definitely not what it could have been. I think it's worth a visit and I encourage you to have a cigar and an old fashioned. I would advise you ASK for a tour - it probably won't be offered.
