Such a fun and friendly environment. Great place to hang out and chill. Have some beers or a mixed drink, play pool, bottle toss, open mic, karaoke, live music, always something to do. Check it out. Definitely earns 5 stars. Good service and great food also.

Direct your eye to the doors of the bathrooms. Tidy Whities and Thongs. Who thought of that?!?

One of a kind. Hubby and I were traveling to Fayetteville from northeast Arkansas to attend my sister's funeral a couple of days later. We rarely go to chain restaurants, especially when we're out of town, so we found a sign on the road that said "TCs Midtown Grill". Not a chain - let's try it! First of all, it's located quite a ways down from the entrance so don't give up looking for it. You walk in a small entry hall and, there it is (angels singing) a Jager tree. A Christmas tree made of Jagermeister bottles - topped with deer antlers, some beads and an upside down Red Bull can. This place could bring out the red neck in even the most sophisticated. The bar looks inviting and the decor is very casual. The walls are lined with music memorabilia and large pictures of iconic musical figures. They've discovered a unique way of distinguishing the bathrooms and that is to hang a framed pair of tidy whities on the mens and a pair of thongs on the womens. Brilliant!! They have a well stocked bar, booths, tables with chairs, a stage, a juke box, a cigarette machine, some pool tables and I think even a shuffle board table. The bar tender/server told us to sit where we liked and, because of the time we stopped by - Saturday around 1:00 p.m. - there were plenty of places to choose from. There were about 6 or 7 other people in the place. The server was very friendly and we didn't have to ask for anything. We were well taken care of. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with fries and a diet Coke and hubs ordered the chicken wrap with fries and a PBR. All of it was delicious and came out quickly. I don't see any reason why we would ever go that way again, but if we do, we'll be looking up TCs again.

I realize that wait times can be longer on crowded nights--this is not because of that. Our server, Ivy, was incredibly rude and completely ignored us. She served all the tables around us, even sitting and chatting with customers or friends numerous times, despite the restaurant being packed and tables not receiving service. My group wanted to get food and drinks. Since the restaurant was crowded and our server hadn't come to our table for around 10 minutes after we sat down, we ordered our first round of drinks at the bar. No big deal. What frustrated us was when the server completely ignored or disregarded us MULTIPLE times as we politely tried to get her attention to order food. Ivy would walk right past us when she could clearly hear us trying to get her attention, or she would just look at us and then look away, as if doing her job wasn't worth her time. My friend went up to her to ask if she could take our order, and Ivy only told her something along the lines of "not right now." After around 30-40 minutes of sitting at the table, we realized we weren't going to get food from Ivy, so we moved to another server's section. I wish I could remember our second server's name, because she came up to us within maybe 1-2 minutes to ask for our orders and was genuinely so nice to us!! We told her about how rude Ivy had been, and the server apologized and said that apparently Ivy was like that a lot. My friends and I literally did nothing that would have caused Ivy to be rude to us. Ivy just decided that she would rather sit and talk with friends while on the job instead of serving us, then treat us like dirt on her shoe when we ask for food.

The bar, previously the bank, had been standing so long it might as well have been written into the town charter. You could see it in that picture on the wall--half a century in one frame, another half tacked on, like a time-lapse of laughter and spilled beer. Now, the food--Lord help me--wasn't what you'd call gourmet. It was what every club in America serves when the fryer's hot and the cook's in a hurry. They sprinkled something called Old Bank Seasoning on just about everything. Imagine Old Bay with more salt and less charm. Then they ladled out their "special" cheese sauce, which was nothing more than queso with another fistful of Old Bank tossed in. You'd think after all these years they might've tinkered with it some. But the waitresses smiled, hustled, and earned their tips the hard way. Management kept the lights on and the taps flowing, which is what management's supposed to do. And maybe that's the whole story here: you come expecting fireworks, you get a sparkler. But in a town where the bar itself is the landmark, maybe the food's not the point. Maybe it's the people raising their glasses, telling their stories, and making sure somebody takes the next picture for the wall. Yes, I would go back.

The restaurant is decorated tastefully in a quaint New Orleans style, and the atmosphere is dress casual and calm, perfect for nice, quiet get together. The restaurant is not designed for a high volume of people, so reservations are best because they stay busy. As I mentioned, Mike's Place is New Orleans themed, and the menu reflects this style, but there are many delicious options. My wife and I made 6:00 pm reservations for our 41st wedding anniversary. We arrived around 5:45 pm but we were seated before 6:00. Our server, Dallas, was very friendly and attentive and took care of all our dining needs. We first ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer. This arrived quickly and was hot and well prepared. The Coconut Shrimp comes with a delicious dipping sauce. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Atlantic Salmon with fried okra and baked potato, all of which was served hot and well prepared. My wife has dairy allergies and she requested a butter substitute for the baked potato, and Dallas was able to provide margarine instead of butter. I ordered the Commodore's Platter, which comes with Lobster Tail, Dungeness Crab Claws, White Fish and Shrimp with salad and one side. You can get the seafood prepared grilled, blackened or fried. Even though a "platter" sounds like a lot of food, it was filling but not too much. This was another excellent experience at Mike's Place, and we'll definitely be back!
