I drive an older vehicle, and it broke down today leaving my neighborhood. My insurance initially dispatched a driver from another company, which I won't name out of respect. That experience was frustrating--the driver was dismissive, uncommunicative, and ultimately left without completing the tow, leaving me still stranded. Reynolds Towing was dispatched next, and the difference was immediate. Their driver was courteous, respectful, and professional. He checked in to make sure I was okay, clearly explained how he would tow my vehicle, and handled everything with care. The contrast was night and day. In Champaign, at the intersection of N. Oak St. and W. Kenyon rd. One of their drivers ran a stop sign without slowing down almost T-boning my car. I tried to contact management, but was told by the person who answered the phone that management was unavailable, after I told him that it was a driving safety concern. He asked for my name and number to which I responded that I'd call back later. He again asked for my name and number and received the same reply from me. Then he said "Ok, William, good bye." Clearly to show me that he already had my name and number. Dangerous driver and poorly trained phone operator. Yet they respond to other reviews stating "driving safety is their priority." read more

I've used Reynolds in the past, for cars and for larger vehicles. Their staff are rude and not particularly knowledgeable, they seem to lie constantly regarding arrival time - they'll pretend they can get there quickly in order to get you to commit, but then they get there much later than promised. Their drivers are a-holes. I'm not talking about drivers pulling cars from lots where the cars don't belong. I'm talking about drivers attending a breakdown or flat. My biggest gripe is that their drivers are reckless and irresponsible on the road. I see them blowing stop signs, turning without turn signals, slowing down and then driving through red lights, speeding, etc. They act as if none of the IVC applies to them. Stay away from Reynolds. Wow!! I cannot say enough about the speed of service and the very reasonable rate! My husband's van stopped running on his way home, Labor Day weekend! If I could give zero stars I would. Lack of customer service. I was trying to understand why I was getting towed. The tow truck had not even lifted my car or even attached the boot. As a woman I felt belittled and harassed. He called the police on me as I was crying in the car because I had questions. I just wanted to see paperwork of the rates. I had to be the bad guy today and have someone towed. I work for an organization located right in the heart of campus, which means we get a decent amount of unauthorized parking happening in our private lot. Finally called Reynolds to come and remove a car that had been sitting for 3 days; sitting even after I had left 3 notices on the windshield. From the time I spoke to Reynold's dispatcher (Virginia), Al arrived in under 20 minutes. Showed up in such a short period of time (on Freshmen Move-In Day, too!) and had the vehicle hooked up and gone in no time. Al was super friendly and explained the tow procedure to me, as this was my first time ever calling for removal. Reynolds is our go-to for towing. Reynolds towing towed my car last week to a repair shop. First, the guy kept complaining that he hated towing AWD vehicles. Then he told me my car was a "piece of shit". He wasn't at all cautious about loading up my vehicle. I watched his bumper scrape mine as he drove down my drive way. I got my car back today. It has several deep scrapes, scratches and spots where he completely took off the paint. I would heed caution and make sure you get pictures and video of your vehicle being towed. read more

I was involved in an accident enroute from Florida to Wisconsin. The sheriff's department called Reynolds to tow my vehicle to their shop until it could be decided on what to do with it. The towing itself went smoothly and we were given a ride with our dog to their shop. We stayed at Reynolds for 5 hours while waiting for a ride and to unload most of the stuff from the car when the ride arrived. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful. It was later determined that my car was to be totaled, so I called and informed them of that and I asked if they could send some things left in the car to my house in Florida. They did as I asked and when I offered to pay they said it was not necessary. I think they went above and beyond expectations and I thank you. read more

Dishonest at best I had a tire go flat in Ludlow, so I called OnStar and because my $#%@y vehicle doesn't come with a spare, I needed a tow. After over an hour, I was told they couldn't find anybody and I had to go it alone. I called Reynolds and told them where I was, they told me the fees. $80 for a flatbed and $3.75 per mile to the drop off point. A little pricey but whatever, I consented. They called me back after half an hour to say they couldn't find me, only to discover they werent looking in the right spot. Once they found me, found out they didn't have all the equipment in the truck (previous driver), so he improvised. So here comes the shocker. We had to turn around to get to the shop, which turned a 6 mile trip into a 16 mi. trip. When we got to the dropoff, the guy hit me with a $200 charge. Thats NOWHERE NEAR what we agreed on. Showed me a chart and quoted me all new prices. You cant change the terms at the end, but auto places in fly-over country do this all the time when they're the only ones available. Thousands of dollars in damages to my brand new truck- they decided to disassemble in the middle of the night. My truck is less than 3 weeks old. They towed my tractor and trailer, also. DO NOT CALL FOR SERVICE!!! My mothers car broke down, reynolds towed it to a local garage. They dropped of the car while the business was closed for the weekend and left it UNLOCKED! Apparently according to person in charge of complaints, Kevin, if a car is unlocked when they pick it up, they will leave it unlocked when dropped off, anywhere. I asked Kevin if this made any sense. He seems to think it's just fine. I couldn't believe he was serious. Needless to say, with video surveillance, someone opened the door, went in and vandalized the car over the weekend. Kevin would not accept any responsibility whatsoever for his employee leaving the car unlocked. Kevin also said basically this conversation was a waste of 20 minutes. And Kevin threw in a few, very unprofessional, CURSE WORDS. Kevin was very unsympathetic or concerned. Maybe his job title is the NO sir man. I guess it makes sense they would have negative reviews coming from those that can't read signs and park illegally. The people at Reynolds are very friendly and the tow truck drivers I've spoken too are nice and often funny. We have a problem with students parking in our office lot clearly marked "PRIVATE" and plastered in Reynolds signs. Somehow they're always surprised to find their car gone. I was stuck in a ditch on a night when a lot of others were dealing with similar issues. After my roadside assistance company first coordinated a tow from another company, I was told there would be a 2 hour wait. At the end of those two hours, I called to see where they were and they claimed they had been down the road and couldn't get to me because conditions were too bad, which was total BS because plows had been up and down the road and other roads in the area several times. Reynolds came to my rescus and was able to get to me in 30 minutes from the time I called them and had my car out in 10 minutes. They arranged to have the driver of the tow truck come by my work (where I was, not where the car was) to take my payment, and then they took care of towing the car (from a different location) to the repair shop. I didn't have to go there at all, saving me a lot of time today. Matt, the tow truck driver, was great! And so was Kurt, the dispatcher guy. My fiancé was in a front end collision and it was towed to your guys lot. We got there to pick it up and I was warned I may not have help if the drivers were busy. But that is the exact opposite of what I got! The tow truck driver not only moved the car he put it on the trailer and made sure it was where I liked before he pulled off.
