Several months ago, while selling our San Diego home and relocating to Paso Robles, we stopped into RH at UTC to look at reclining sofas (finding an attractive one is nearly impossible!). We were greeted by Michael Burlaza who offered us a warm smile and a cold bottle of water. We quickly realized Michael was the real deal...Knowledgable about the product, professional in his demeanor and honest if he couldn't answer a question on the spot (but would follow up later...). He gave us his card and we were on our way. Our search for upholstered pieces at other retail stores (and a few other RH galleries) led us right back to Michael. Even after relocating to the Central Coast, Michael was always available via email or phone to discuss our furniture needs. We ended up selecting a few more pieces at RH than anticipated, but the fabric selection, upholstery quality (the seaming was the best we have seen out there) and summer sale pricing proved too great of a force! We recently traveled back down to San Diego and spent a very detailed three hours with Michael to place our upholstery order (RH was also able to arrange a delivery date that works with our construction schedule). Heading back to Paso, we couldn't help but feel confident about our purchases and excited about seeing the finished pieces in our new home. If you are looking for the highest level of customer service, you can do no better than Michael Burlaza...He is simply the best! read more

Just walked in here. We were looking at some brackets online and figured it would be nice to see them in person. A salesperson approached us and informed us they do not sell hardware and do interior decorating now. Which was surprising since they sell the hardware online. Its a little confusing because they make it seem like anyone can shop at this store even if you are not looking for an interior designer. I mean they ARE at a mall. So, instead of giving us a catalog and having us look at the hardware they sell they suggested an entirely different store. Which is nice but seems like a missed opportunity to establish a relationship for future purchases. Especially when they have brackets on display. read more

I have been in love with this store for years...but it is just so darn expensive! i still come by and check it out and i get the catalog's and I dream of all the ways I could decorate my home...when i win the lottery ...i recently discovered the outlet store and while the pickin's are slim and you probably won't find what you want...it's worth a drive! the customer service vary's at this location. There is one super friendly nice guy who works here! he is so sweet and helpful. While i've encountered a woman who is just so horribly cold and rude. She acts as if she is "better" than the customer's in the store. Oh well...her horrible attitude has nothing to do with the furniture. they do offer good financing if you get the credit card....and a good discount if you become a "member" hmmm...i may just finally cave and do that. read more

Recently purchased a new dining room table and couch from RH. The in store representatives were knowledgeable, patient and helpful. The installation team of Pedro and Josue were excellent! They laid out blankets before laying out the new table to build. asked if I wanted to put floor protection on, moved it to the exact spot, then asked if I was sure. Offered to show me how to install the extensions and cleaned up everything both in the house and on the street where it was unpacked. they even picked up small pieces of paper and plastic. Great selection and displays to help inspire your inner designer. The quality of the items in store are definitely much better than most furniture stores. I've been searching for a new living room set and have finally found one! The associates were very friendly and helpful. I don't plan on making any other purchases anytime soon but if I need more accessories or towels, I'd come back for sure. The price and quality are perfect. I'm rather surprised with the negative reviews on Restoration Hardware. I didn't actually go into the store but went to purchase several items for our babies nursery from their RH Baby and Child website; their Large Weathered Wall Organizer (http://www.rhbabyandchild.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=rhbc_prod419095&categoryId=rhbc_cat377258) and a Large Knit Cotton Pouf (http://www.rhbabyandchild.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=rhbc_prod398254&categoryId=search). However, when I went to check out, I tried to use the 20% coupon off of one item but it wouldn't accept it even though it was within the date restriction. After many failed attempts, I finally called this store and a really nice associate was able to help me over the phone. He spent several minutes trying to access the items in their system and experienced the same issue. He eventually got it to work and proceeded to process my order over the phone. This was on a Sunday (1/25). The best part...the complete order was delivered on Friday (1/30). I didn't even pay for expedited shipping and the packages came from their warehouse in Columbus, Ohio....to Carlsbad, CA in 5 short days! And the packages were HUGE! I really appreciated how quickly they processed and delivered my order--and how helpful they were over the phone. I've made purchases from one of their competitors back in December that I still have not received. And another in January that I'm not expected to receive until mid March, so I'm extra appreciative of this expedited service. Thank you, Restoration Hardware Baby & Child! After living in Chicago and going to the gallery store there and how overwhelmingly helpful those salespeople are, it's like night and day here. Despite 5 salespeople working, all they're doing is hammering away on their laptops and checking their phones sitting at the dining tables. I wasn't greeted once, got an exasperated yes and eyebrow raise when asked if one worked here. When I was disappointed to find out that the hardware I wanted wasn't in store to see, she didn't help me with alternates until I asked. Then she scolded my husband for carrying the sample tray of hardware to table to look at finishes in light instead of the back dark hallway by the staff break room where they are displayed. When he went to put them back, she didn't offer to bring out samples so we could look at them in light or hold them. Then went back to cruising the internet or whatever she was doing. Never said bye. We were ready to drop $2k on kitchen hardware. Guess not. Never going back here again, RH corporate save your money, your employees at this location aren't doing anything to help sales. read more

I just ordered a lightbulb here yesterday. Goodness, that sounds ridiculous. It's a vintage-style 30W tungsten bulb and Restoration Hardware is one of the only places I can find that has these in supply for less than $15. Service was prompt and friendly despite the fact that I decided to traipse into UTC with my lip piercing in. Usually shops like that are a bit rude to me even though I look totally cute and not like a hooligan. The only issue that I had was that when I got the order form for the lightbulb (they don't carry them in the store, they order it for you and have it shipped to your house for free), my last name ended up being misspelled and my billing address was entered incorrectly despite the fact that I was very clear with my speech. I told her that my billing address was on east one-hundred-sixteenth street. It came out like this: east 100 16 Th St. I was really puzzled... How do you hear one-hundred-sixteenth street and not enter 116th? Update: I did receive my lightbulb today. And it's only the 20 4 Th! read more

Restoration Hardware has the best towels. Although expensive, they last forever! Make sure to visit them during the bath sale they have every year; the towels are 20% off during that time. I was in there recently specifically looking for Whisky stones for my husband as part of his Christmas gift. Surprisingly, Restoration Hardware had them and they were on sale (less expensive compared to stores like Bevmo). They actually have some unique stocking stuffers/gifts there in addition to the home stuff. When checking out, I asked if they had any watch boxes/display cases. One of the associates thought that there may be one in the back, so she went and looked for it while another person rang me up. They didn't have one, but I appreciated that they checked for me. I don't shop here often because the products are pricey, but I always stop in when they have a sale. read more

We think of RH for the big stuff, but they are great for the little things, too. We needed new bath mats for a remodeled master bath. While there were none to walk out of the store with, there were plenty of samples and a truly informative rep. Bath mats, you say? Well yes. Our first one has been rock star, so knew where to go for more. Angela greeted us as we entered the store, and took us right to where we needed to be. She knew her merchandise, what would fit our needs, set up the order and let us know when we could expect delivery. The sparkling water as we wound up our purchase was a nice touch. Keep it up RH. My boyfriend and I came here today to check out the cloud couch. We have seen it many times before but we have a huge bonus coming our way & our plan is to invest in this amazing & very popular couch, in the next couple of weeks. We walked in the door and no one greeted us. There were 2 employees that saw us walk in and made eye contact with us but then continued with their conversation & never even said "hello". We went straight over to the cloud couch & we were looking at it and talking it over. I wasn't understanding how the pricing worked for the cloud couch or how the membership worked so I walked over to one of the employees, she was a women. I asked her about the pricing for the cloud & she never really looked me in the eye, never smiled. She answered my question & then continued what she was doing. Isn't your job to sell? Give knowledge about the product that your selling? Yes, that is part of your job but because you felt that we weren't going to buy anything or we couldn't afford anything in your store, you didn't feel it was worth your time. Right? We proceeded to walk to the back of the store to look at another brown dimpled couch that we have also had our eyes on & in the back sat a couple more employees who again never gave us the time of day. They never said hello, can I help you find anything, what are you guys shopping for today or even a simple let me know if you need help. I have been thinking about the experience all day & it has really stuck with me more then any place ever has because I felt discriminated against. I felt that they didn't think we would buy anything or that we were a worthy client so they didn't care to give us the time of day. This is very upsetting to me. I work in customer service where people come in all the time and you might think they are wasting your time but it doesn't matter. You treat everyone the same because you never know who might just buy something and that's what customer service is all about, not judging a book by its cover.. We will defiantly still love to purchase the cloud but it will not be from this location since each employee felt that they were "too good" to acknowledge us or offer any sort of help. read more

Zero customer service. Husband and I came in today for the second time to attempt to order dining room chairs. We knew exactly what we wanted and waited around to see if someone would ask if we needed help. 15 minutes later and no one has said anything to us. No hello, no do you need help, nada. So we settled instead to order what we wanted online. Great! We just needed to figure out which wood finish the chairs in the showroom had. Attempted to look for someone, you can't tell who works here and who's a customer. We rifled through the samples at the back of the store right behind two ladies (who I assumed worked there) who were browsing the internet on their laptops. They didn't even look up from what they were doing to ask if we needed help. This place is worthless except to see a fabric swatch or wood finish in person if you aren't set on it. I have been shopping at RH, for the past 10 years. I love the furniture and classic designs. My wife, and I, recently purchased Dining Chairs on line, for our Formal Dining Table. As always, the delivery was vey quick. However, the chairs where to small for the table, and we needed to return them. When I contacted Customer Service, they instructed me to re-pack the chairs, and cover the cost of shipping, back to the corporate warehouse. I then contacted the CTC RH Store, and they stated I could return the chairs to their store. unfortunately, you do not receive a credit or refund, for any purchase on line, until the product arrives to the corporate warehouse, and is reviewed and logged back into inventory. This would not be so bad, but this can take 4-5 weeks, until you can receive any type of financial compensation. I also have noticed, that when I am shopping in any Restoration Hardware Store, I am definitely stereo typed, based on appearance. I receive better assistance / customer service, when I am wearing a suite (shopping after work), vs. jeans, t-shirt and flip flops (what I try to wear when not at work). Now that I bought a house, I have been in this state of "I'm an adult now" and "I should kick it up a notch in terms of buying quality stuff." I decided to check out Restoration Hardware for some bathroom items (a trashcan, soap dispenser...all matchy-matchy, of course). I was a little confused by the layout. Towels and slippers and blankets all on one side of the room, with some bathroom items interspersed. But then on the other side, there were tons more items that I was specifically looking for. I think it would've made more sense to have all bathroom items on one side of the store and then all living room and bedroom items on another. But then again, I am no interior designer. Customer service was very helpful. I was given an unopened, untouched trashcan and soap dispenser to take home with me (good...let the floor model get pawed all over!) and they were very friendly along the way. The prices are steep. I decided that I am only getting one of the bathrooms sets there and then the other one will be graced with goods by Target. Hey man, I want quality, but I also need money for my beer and wine budget. My priorities have not completely changed. read more

Products are great but everything else is horrible! We are so bummed this place has bad customer service and even worse delivery. We ordered 3 bar stools the middle of September. We just bought a house and were moving in the last weekend in September. We had to order them online, which was no big deal and they said they would be delivered October 3rd. Great! We were so excited. Well the delivery date got pushed back, okay it is a bummer but no problem. Then it got pushed back until November 2nd. Well that day came around and we noticed we had an email on Halloween saying now they will be delivered on the 18th.. Seriously?!?! They have changed things so much and to be honest I would be shocked if they did arrive on the 18th. I called and unfortunately I was too nice. I should have been rude and maybe I would have gotten somewhere. They said once the bar stools are delivered they would issue a gift card.. Do you not understand I don't want to shop at your place again?! Ridiculous, and the gift card would probably take 2 months to get here as well. Good luck to any one who shops hear. Great things in this store, I guess its not really a review of the store itself but the HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE I am talking about. I mean absolutely pathetic. For a place that I just spent several thousand dollars on furniture, I would have expected a higher standard of customer care, but it was no existent. Whoever they use for distribution is TERRIBLE. I can't count the amount of times I have had something delivered incorrectly, broken or over two or three weeks later than originality stated it would be. I love the stuff in this store and need more furniture, but I will no longer be shopping here. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the products. Overall the furniture build is excellent. You get what you pay for here but don't expect some fabrics to just avoid stain. Fabrics will be fabrics and if you stain fabrics with red wine... Well it's furniture. Clearly the look of the furniture build is spot on. I have bought some items that didn't look the same in person such as oil rubbed bronze pieces which in some photos appear almost bright and copper. I'm happy overall with the stuff we purchased and if there was ever an issue or dislike, they took it back easily. Management was very helpful and accommodating and I didn't even have to spend much to get respectable treatment. There are however some patrons who I see behave very badly expecting a concierge treatment for a $32 purchase. Then again there are many people who have disposable income who could use some manners and tact. I'm sure if this place was more affordable to most people the reviews would be so low. The store manager Vince was extremely pleasant to work with. He and his team were respectful, courteous, and accommodating. I went into the other furniture stores in the mall including Pottery Barn before I came here and I felt more welcome at RH. Overall, if you have an expensive taste for the good stuff. I'd give no stars if it was possible. Went here to look at furniture for our new home. Walked in not realizing they close with 10 minutes to spare. If you close at 8 that means you close at 8 not 750. Lady immediately rushed to "greet" us as if we weren't allowed in the store or we did something wrong and said with a smart smirky remark "did you need something" comment that didn't sound welcoming. She followed us around the store clearly not providing any type of customer service but making it look like she wanted us out the door as soon we stepped in. Well it worked. We took a few steps into the store and immediately left cause she obviously didn't want us in there. Wish I got her name so I could've said thanks for nothing. I went into the store tonight, more as a reference because I knew what I wanted but needed to see the fabric and the actual sofa , in person, before I ordered on line. The minute I walked in the door I was asked if I needed any help. The design consultant walked me through everything I was interested in. I was going to order while at the store, however needed to measure as I was going up 1 foot in the sofa size, than originally planned, and needed to measure before I place the order. The consultant prepared and emailed me a quote so I could order from home. She also saved me a lot of further anguish as I discovered the down filled soda was not as tailored as I want so am going with another fill. I have read many awful reviews here. BTW I was dressed in gym cloths and no makeup as I saw people complained they were ignored because of how they were dressed. read more

This store has the WORST costumer service. My husband and I decided to stop in to place an order. We had just had a long car ride back from LA so we were tired and dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Two ladies completely ignored us. My husband was even on one of their ladders looking for samples because we had been waiting for them to help us for what seemed like forever so we took matters in our own hands. We were in there for at least an hour and we didn't get one "hello". We were so pissed we decided to leave. We went home and ordered over $10,000 worth of furniture. Big mistake...huge. Purchased a slip cover couch with down fill about two years ago. The couch started leaking fill like crazy, feathers everywhere, and it doesn't keep it's shape. Customer service didn't seem to mind that it's $4000+ product looked like crap not long after we got it. They said that it sounded like normal wear and tear, and thought the appropriate solution was to offer us new cushions for a thousand or so more dollars. This has turned me off restoration hardware for good. I would highly recommend that you spend your money else where. read more

The UTC La Jolla Restoration Hardware (RH) store is a "BAIT-AND-SWITCH" operation...we ordered the Dutch Elm Light Tan coffee and console tables and RH knowingly delivered completely different colored tables to our home...after 4 RH delivery attempts over a 4 month period with the wrong tables RH told us they have not made the showroom tables with the light tan color we ordered for MANY YEARS!! We went back to the UTC La Jolla "gallery" store and literally took the tables off the showroom floor which we had originally ordered. These people were unbelievably rude and their customer service was inexcusably bad. It's a store filled with a lot of sales people with a lot of really bad attitude...do not trust what they tell you or sell you. read more

I have purchased many things from RH over the past couple years to furnish a new home. The prices are a bit higher than Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn, but the quality is much higher. I think it's actually very good value for the price. I also love how most things can be ordered in multiple sizes and finishes to fit your home. I do wish this particular location was larger and had more of their range on display, but I can vouch for the customer service- all of the 6 or so times I have been in I was treated courteously and professionally. Last month I spent over $3000,00 on furniture and accessories, and the service was great. I came in to purchase a small bedside table, for about $400.00, and they are charging me $199.00 to ship it! I said I will be happy to pick it up at the store as it is not very big, and they said they just don't do that. Their only suggestion was for me to buy more furniture so the cost could be spread out, as there is a flat rate of $199.00 no matter what.
