The host set a poor tone from the start. Rather than asking if we had a reservation, he condescendingly asked, "Were we expecting you?" When we said no, he appeared annoyed and told us there would be a 45-minute wait despite more than 10 empty tables visible in the dining room. We chose to wait at the bar, where we sat with dirty dishes in front of us for about 15 minutes without being acknowledged by the bartender. Ironically, the wait for a table ended up being very short, as the restaurant remained mostly empty. Unfortunately, our server was no better than the host or bartender. The scallop entrée consisted of only four scallops for $46, which is difficult to justify. They were served on a bed of purple cabbage that caused the scallops to turn an unappetizing purple/blue color. The macaroni and cheese, which we expected to be a safe choice, was frankly terrible. The only redeeming part of the meal was the shoestring fries, which were excellent but not enough to make up for the overall experience. read more

(We've stayed at other Savannah hotels that had a restaurant attached but their food was just "ok"...nothing special) I was presently surprised at the shrimp and grits! The tomato broth/sauce that accompanied the dish was such a great way to add freshness and a lightness to the dish since a lot of the times shrimp and grits can be very heavy. We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn historic District in Savannah and the front desk highly recommended RHETT, and I'm so glad they did! We started with a Bloody Mary, that I am passionate about, and it was just perfect - flavorful and just the right amount of spice. My food brunch go-to is shrimp and grits and it totally met and exceeded my expectations. Bacon, rather than andouille sausage worked well for me and the sauce was flavorful and delicious, but not heavy, a real, plus. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and overall it was a very flavorful dish. My husband had the chicken and waffles and loved them. The bourbon infused maple syrup (real maple syrup) was excellent, and the chicken was fried nicely and not too heavily. Chicken breast, tender, and juicy. To make everything even more perfect our server, Yoga, went over and above in attending to our every need. He was always available for extra water or whatever else we needed. His service and charming personality were worth the experience of coming back. And finally, the ambience was perfect. We sat outside in a beautiful patio area with lots of plants and umbrellas. We were lucky to have a nice breeze and they had beautiful piped in music to set the tone. All in all, a perfect brunch experience on a summer Sunday afternoon. I give Rhett a rating of 2 because I tend not to give a 1 rating if a place at least had a good point or two. The location is great on the river, the restaurant is open, and large and our waitress was sweet and tried hard. The food was not worth the price tag for the 1/2 chicken which had no dark meat, so it was not a half chicken. Calamari was too salty, and overall food was not up to par with our other favorite restaurants in Savannah. Maybe they will get better and give a better experience for future guests. With a limited menu, one would think they would be experts at preparing what they do have available. Not worth $150+ with so many other places to dine. read more

We stayed at Alida which is a fabulous hotel. Rhett was one of the restaurants located at the ground level. We ordered breakfast (in some case, brunch) mid morning before touring Savannah. I had the Fish & Chips and they were delicious! It comes with different sauces including tartar and malt vinegar. We also order the eggs Benedict with smoke salmon (they ran out of country ham). It was good and well done but thought it should have a bit more salmon. Pancakes were yummy! Ham, egg & bacon croissant was good. We were seated promptly getting off the elevator. Place feels rustic with a lot of wood furniture. Staff was attentive and refilled our coffee and other drinks. Would definitely come back next time. read more

Rhett is a solid choice for a nice dinner by the river, not on the river but one block up from the riverfront. It was the only top Yelp rated restaurant on the riverfront where we were able to make a reservation for a large party without paying private dining fees or having to reserve a set menu in advance. The space is pretty with high ceilings - although a bit hidden/not good signage from the Hotel Alido in which it's located (it's downstairs - go in the lobby of the hotel then down an elevator, or walk down the street towards the river and then enter from down below the hotel). I hosted a dinner for 20 people last night and everyone enjoyed their dinners. I can only speak to the items I had: Hush puppies with honey butter - 5/5 (best hush puppies I've ever had - light and not greasy at all) Cheddar drop biscuits - 4/5 (biscuits cut in half with a couple slices of bacon inside) Crispy calamari - 4/5 BBQ octopus - 4/5 Rhett Caesar salad - 5/5 - this was really delicious and three of us split the three wedges of romaine topped with a yummy caesar dressing, grated cheese, and some amazing crumble on top Grouper with crab rice - 4/5 French fries - 4/5 (they didn't have Old Bay fries but these fries were very solid) Cardamom Cinnamon Beignets with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce - 5*/5 - hands down the best item of the night! read more

We were vacationing in HHI and decided to escape to Savannah for the afternoon and dinner out. Reservations are available and I recommend that you make them. Rhett sits "below" the main street but one step above the riverwalk area so if you sit outside you have a great view for people watching without it being loud or congested. We opted to try several small plates rather than ordering dinner meals and that was a great move because it allowed us to try 3 of the best dishes we ate during our entire week of vacation! And we were more than full afterwards (there were 2 of us). The ceviche is nothing like we'd seen or eaten before but it was phenomenal! It was in a tangy coconut milk base with the fish of the day, cilantro, red onions and rice "crackers". It was truly one of the best dishes I've had in a while. We had fried calamari which also included onions and banana peppers which was such a surprisingly good touch. It was a healthy portion and perfectly cooked with the right amount of light batter. Last were the cheddar biscuits which came with a ham mousse and strawberry jam - absolutely delicious flavor profile! Like I said, it was more than enough food for the 2 of us. We had The Pixie and the Usual Fools to drink. They both packed a punch, but in the best way possible. Another unique blend of flavors in both. Service was so attentive and our food came out really quickly, leaving us extra time to stroll the area. I can't recommend this place enough! Rhett is definitely a place to put on your dining list if you are in the area. It was well worth the drive from Hilton Head. read more

Fries were cold, burger was their version of a "Big Mac" and meat quality didn't seem great (lots of bites of grizzle/fat).
