The good: large breakfast menu. Plenty of choices. Food is generally good. (We have only ever gone for breakfast). The coffee is good. The bad: service has been both good and not so good. Waiting too long for a first cup of coffee. Getting the bill wrong and then forgetting to come back with a corrected one. At the other times the server was perfect. I thought my fruit cup had maybe sat in the fridge too long, as it did not look fresh. They don't serve real maple syrup. The server explained that it was too expensive! They do offer a blueberry syrup, but I haven't tried that. To sum up, a good but not great place for breakfast and at reasonable prices. Just don't expect all the bells and whistles. read more

We stopped at Rhinelander Family Restaurant for lunch on May 29, 2026. My wife and I both ordered the turkey wrap, but what we received was not what was advertised on the menu. The menu photo clearly shows a wrap made with sliced deli turkey, while ours contained cubed chicken and had been grilled. When my wife politely asked the waitress about the discrepancy, she immediately became defensive. She went back to the kitchen and returned saying that because turkey wraps are rarely ordered, they use cubed chicken instead. My wife explained that this was not what we had ordered and that the menu photo showed something completely different. As the waitress walked away, she responded with, "Turkey is turkey." She even told us it was the chicken they used in the chicken dumplings soup they were serving that day. A $33.10 meal we barely touched. My wife also pointed out that the wrap shown in the menu wasn't grilled, while ours was. The waitress replied, "Well, that's how things stay together in the wrap." The conversation continued to deteriorate, and when my wife requested to speak with a manager, the waitress responded, "I doubt she'll care either, just like me." What made this experience especially disappointing is that I had eaten dinner here a couple of weeks ago while attending an event in the area. At that time, both the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, the poor attitude, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to address a legitimate concern during this visit completely overshadowed the positive experience I had previously. I understand that mistakes happen, but customer service and respectful communication go a long way. Sadly, this visit left us with a very negative impression. I had some time to kill between appointments and I saw a lot of cars here! That's usually a good sign of good food! They have a huge menu with breakfast served all day and tons of other options plus daily specials. Service was friendly and fast, and the food was very good! I'd definitely stop here again when in the area! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on Monday morning. Coffee was flowing fast and refills were always before we asked. The food is plentiful and defiantly worth the value. We ordered a Denver omelette and a half biscuit and gravy, as well as the ham steak with eggs, and a polish scramble. The biscuits were a little smaller then I expected but the flavor of the gravy was so good! All the food was fresh and came out quick! Service was always attentive and here to help! This restaurant will always have a place in my heart. My boyfriend and I would come here during the school year (I'm a teacher) for breakfast on nights he works (6p - 6a) and just enjoy a good breakfast and time together. Food is always fast, fresh and has that comfort food feel to it. The staff are always ready to help and are super attentive to their tables. The atmosphere in the mornings is very different for the afternoon. The AM is quiet, usually a handful of men getting coffee and laughing. The afternoons are hustle and bustle, lots of laughter and good conversation. But there's ALWAYS laughter and great energy. Love this gem in the Northwoods. read more

I grew up in Rhinelander and now live in Chicago area, but we frequently drive up north to visit family. When we do we meet up, we gather at the restaurant for breakfast. I love how friendly the staff and atmosphere is even on busy times. My son and I just had breakfast with my niece and her two young daughters yesterday morning during Memorial Day weekend and our service was great! Shout out to our server, Brenda. Our order was served quickly and very tasty. That's one thing that always surprises me is no matter how busy the place is, your food comes out fast. It has become a family tradition to eat breakfast here as a family whenever we visit Rhinelander and we look forward to our next visit! read more

Decided to try the Rhinelander Family Restaurant while in the area today. It did not disappoint! The place itself has a cute, comfy, family theme to it. The service was excellent. We got seated right away and the waitress was already taking our order shortly after we were seated. It was pretty busy so we were expecting some waiting time but the staff was on the ball. They do have a large menu. We did go for breakfast and there were so many options for breakfast. We both got omelettes and they were literally on the table like 10 minutes later. We couldn't believe it! And talk about delicious! They were so filling and yummy. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend giving this place a try! It won't disappoint! read more

The food is like truck stop food, bland and basic but came out of the kitchen fast, so that's a plus. The Hostess was a bit too friendly, I was meeting a client and when we were talking business, the Hostess sat down and talked about herself like we knew each other. Unprofessional and rude! I've only ever been here a few times but every time we come here they never seem to disappoint. The soup is always nice and hot. It's clear that it's home made. Really good food. Service is always nice and quick. This time I got the mediterranean melt. SUPER GOOD! Definitely love this place. Highly recommend to check it out. These owners operate other family style restaurants in northern Wisconsin and do an excellent job delivering a big menu with hearty portions at a more than reasonable price. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast or lunch while northwoods it up do not hesitate to stop.
