I wasn't sure where to start, what classes to take, or how to move forward, but she made it so much easier. I've been attending for six weeks now, and I absolutely love it! I'm finally doing what I've always dreamed of, and it feels amazing. You don't have to be crazy talented or have any prior experience. There are multiple instructors who are so supportive and help guide you every step of the way. I've had such an incredible time and can't wait to continue on to the next class!

I figured now that I live in a new state dance could be a fun way to connect me with new people who share similar interests. Upon searching for adult classes I stumbled upon Studio Pulse. They offer a wide variety of adult classes including Hip-hop, yoga, and a burlesque inspired class at their sister studio, The Annex. I was interested in their adult ballet classes, and lucky for me they were offering a 10 week series for people with ballet experience. I immediately emailed to ask about the class, and make sure I wasn't about to get my butt handed to me in front of a bunch of 16 year olds. The owner, Stephanie, was super prompt in her email reply, and let me know if I didn't feel comfortable with the skill level of the class I could drop down to the beginner course. I immediately signed up! On the first day of my 10 week series I was greeted by Stephanie, who showed me around the studio and made me feel so welcomed. Stephanie and the front desk staff are always very pleasant and friendly. They are also taking COVID precautions seriously, which shows they care about their staff and students. The studio is a really nice space with a great lounge for the young dancers to socialize in between training. Everything is clean and well maintained. The intermediate/adv adult ballet class is taught by Liz, who is an excellent ballet teacher. She is very passionate about ballet, and puts together great barre and floor work. They teach several styles of dance at this studio, and have the classes broken up by age/skill level. They also have a dance company that is on a try out basis. It seems they put on several showcases a year where the students can show off what they learn. The studio also has a lot of class variety for adult dancers of all skill levels. I am very happy I found this studio, and will be looking into taking another class series once this one ends. If my children are ever interested in dance I will definitely be enrolling them at this studio.

However, one of the women I'm seeing is into novel experiences (and is also a good dancer, TBH) and I wanted to hang out with her this week so...there I was. There is a free beginner dance lesson every Wednesday. The instructors are good, really good. Arguably too good. I'm such a n00b that I didn't understand most of the jargon. Jargon that most people have probably known since middleschool. I guess I just need a "total n00b" class to be offered in the future. Anyway, I'm trying to challenge myself so, I still tried. I *kind of* got the dance. My steps were innacurate and but I didn't run into anyone and my timing was A-OK. It was a really fun experience now that I'm not out on the dance floor struggling through "syncopated steps". (whatever the hell those are)

One day she came home and cried for two hours because she was required to make the teacher laugh and couldn't. She thought she was responsible for the class not getting a popsicle party. They did not get a party that day. The final straw was the recital in Anchorage. There were four days that we were to drive in. On the first and last day we were there as required at 3p.m. We were the 2nd class to perform on stage. When we were not called I found Emily and asked her why. She said we were passed over. There were runners to tell everybody everything but we were told nothing. That was 2 1/2 hours later. My daughter was crushed. She had her costume and dreamed of being on stage. The recital cost around 180.00 and of course is non refundable. She is signed up for the fall semester and of course that is non refundable. Check it out before your child becomes a student.

Other gyms for this cost or less have saunas, tanning, pools, yoga studios, classes, etc. Not here. The two newest staff members are very unpleasant with one of the girls going as far as chasing you down anytime shes away from the desk when you scan in and practically accusing you of not being a member. On top of that the same girl has a habit of putting things away before anyone is finished, I've seen her do this to the point someone will eventually yell at her. Any time you step away to grab water, go to the bathroom, or even just walk around in between sets she immediately cleans up after you even if it's obvious you're not done. She also seems to think everyone should workout in 100% silence so if the weights ever make any noise or if someone makes even a quiet grunt she'll tell the manager who then calls you to say there's been noise complaints about you (which is funny because whenever I've gone there's either people that are much louder or there's not a single person in the building so I'd love to know where the complaints are from). It's really not worth the price.
