First impression.. unlike the old location,there's plenty of parking .. and the neighboring businesses are closed on Saturdays so there's even more available. Second impression.. when you walk in , unlike the old place , it doesn't have that butcher smell .. though I love that smell. It's a lot roomier and everything is spaced out to walk by . They have a good variety in the freezers and even some BBQs for sale . The butcher counter has a lot to offer and everything on display looked great . They even have a dry aging cabinet so you can see the aging process. They also have a coffee bar and a few tables to enjoy some coffee and a snack . Everything was reasonably priced . And the store looks so much better . It's a new look but the products and service remains the same .

About 98% pure fat, hardly any actual bacon meat, and what's there is hanging off the fat part by a thread, ready to fall off at any moment. A few slices there with no meat at all. The second pic "looks" better but it isn't, I just layered the slices and that hides the same amount of fat underneath. That will likely be the last time I ever buy from them. When I asked if the leg meat would do for a stew she said yes it would and would be just as good if not better. I spent $75 on 3 lbs of prepackaged lamb leg (I only needed 2 lbs). Thankfully I researched the difference between leg meat and shoulder meat when I got home or I would have wasted a lot of that meat. Turns out lamb leg doesn't work as well as shoulder for a long-simmered stew. Shoulder needs to be simmered for a long time, as my recipe instructs, where as leg meat gets tough and chalky if simmered for too long. Why didn't she know this? Really disappointed in this place. Overpriced for a butcher that knows very little.

I think it's so wonderful that small local outfits can sell their products around town, giving Edmontonians premium local options.
