    Cheeseburger and fries

The food was amazing. This is the best cheeseburger I've had in a long time! The service was wonderful however it was a bit chilly inside the restaurant today. If you're looking for great food, this is the place to come very family oriented, homestyle atmosphere.

Let me tell u this is the 4 th time I've got food from them since they changed owners and if this is the kind of food that a owner is going to let represent there company then I am ashamed because I just ordered Alfaro spaghetti and I was just in awww how they sent it it looks like and tast like they took noodles and put it with a jar of Alfredo sauce put it in microwave and sent it to be diluvered it tast like u would think of jar sauce and that's it no seasoning nothing not even enough noodles so much sauce that you would've thought. This was Alfredo soup tast like I was eating a raw potato,

Ordered 2 subs Philly steak toasted xtra veggies and mayo Sub was wet not toasted no extra veggies and veggies were old steak isn't real beef weird texture and no taste Italian with xtra veggies toasted. Sub wasn't toasted and again old veggies bread was also wet weird tasting mayo Sure this place is using very low quality ingredients Bread is not a sub quality more like a hero size Restaurant has changed hands and the food isn't good Sad thing is my husband asked when checking out did items have xtra veggies and toasted and the lady said Yes. She said when I called and addressed that she said well I didn't make it but it was written on the ticket ?? That's amusing. When I called to tell them that food was disappointing we were told that we could bring them back to get remade Not sure of many people who want to make a 40min round trip to remake their food My husband said when he was checking out that he heard the lady tell someone the same thing over their phone about their pizza. So I guess they have a problem with serving low quality food. Wish we could post without any stars because it's just that bad

I have been coming to riccos for years. I always get the same thing but have experimented from time to time. The Alfredo is phenomenal most of the time. Other times the pasta and meat could use a little more seasoning. The service is always prompt and courteous. I just wish I could catch "the cook" that puts the extra pizzazz on the food consistently

Ordered using their new online ordering. Only gives option for pick up. Was supposed to be ready in 35 minutes. Arrived for pick up before then and it was ready. People behind the counter just looked at me for a minute then walked up to me without saying anything. I got my food. Checked it to see if it was what I ordered and it was all right. We went straight home to eat. Got a large cheese pizza, large Stromboli and small garden salad. The Stromboli is not cooked all the way. The dough on the bottom is raw. The salad looks disgusting. Tomato's are old, onions translucent and lettuce wilted. Also the salad came with no dressing. It seems there's always something wrong when I order from here except the pizza.

Lettuce and tomato on the side to go with the Cheesesteaks

Man I'm so conflicted on this one. I've been going to Riccos for YEARS because they have my absolute favorite pizza and the XL is ginormous and perfect for feeding the family (it's the biggest and best pizza I've found in the area). Their sauce is delicious, I love their cheese and pepperoni they use, and it's the most perfect New York style. All very quality ingredients. Their stuffed shells are on point and their subs are pretty good (not that Ive had all of them because they have a million on the menu). The cheesesteak is really good (meat is good quality and portion) and the cheeseburger sub is delicious- the burger meat is definitely high quality and hand formed). What's even better and really sets them apart is the house made dressing/oil and vinegar that comes with the subs. I could drink it from a cup. It's definitely good quality olive oil, good quality red vinegar (I believe), and dried Italian seasoning. Delicious. I always order an extra couple to throw in the fridge. This is why I'm conflicted. I placed an order for my brother and son to pick up on their way home from work. This was at 155p and was told 25 minutes- which I was fine with because it was a big order (XL pepperoni pizza, ham and cheese calzone, chicken Alfredo (comes with salad and bread), two large cheesesteaks with lettuce and tomato on the side (they charged me and extra dollar per container which rubbed me wrong), a side of Kalamata olives, side of feta cheese, and 3 extra house dressings. The lady on the phone was sweet and helpful and called me darling lol. It made me smile. I let the boys know we were set. Total came to $87. No big deal, stuffs expensive and really I didn't think the price was bad at all for what we ordered. I don't mind spending good money on good food. Well, they arrived at 220p as scheduled and wound up having to wait an additional 20 (which made for cranky boys after a long and busy work day- they were definitely a little hangry), but oh well- can't win them all. The boys got home with the food and I hollered for my daughter so we could go to town. Of course everyone hit the pizza first while I unpacked the bag. The first thing I noticed was my extra dressings- awesome!!! Then I noticed the containers were filled barely halfway. Again- things are expensive so ok, but I mean the price of the plastic container is probably more than the price of amount of oil and vinegar in it so is it really saving money shorting me on the O&V? I don't know. I gave my daughter her Chicken Alfredo and went to get my salad together. No container of kalamata olives. No container of feta. I opened my salad and it was CLEARLY old (had been pre-prepared and put in a styrofoam container and then in the fridge at least 1-2 days ago). I paid for the olives and feta and although I'm not sure how much they charged me for the sides, I'm sure it wasn't cheap because olive and feta are pricey items. So the boys were cranky from waiting extra and I was cranky because my olives and cheese were left out and my salad was fit for the dumpster, daughter said "Mom try this Alfredo, it doesn't taste like Alfredo." So I tried it and although it clearly had white sauce on the pasta, it tasted like NOTHING. It was the most bizarre sensory experience ever because it literally didn't even taste like maybe a béchamel that maybe Joey the chef forgot to put the cheese in (and wth is Alfredo with no cheese). It was clearly some sort of cheap jarred sauce that no one even bothered to season. I asked her how the chicken was and she said "chicken?". I looked at the container and they left the chicken out! I asked her why she hadn't said told me there was no chicken and she replied that she'd thought I just got her regular Alfredo, not chicken Alfredo. So at this point I actually do get kind of pissed off- $15 for Chicken Alfredo minus the Chicken and minus the Alfredo. So essentially about 20 cents worth of angel hair pasta. But the pizza is soooooo good! Hence the conflict. I ranted but also kind of laughed at the same time (chicken Alfredo with no chicken Alfredo lmao) and didn't bother calling, I did make mention that we would not be doing Riccos again... ...knowing of course that we will. What can I say, I'm weak.

The highlight of the meal was definitely the Italian sub. I added sweet peppers, and that was absolutely the right move. It was fresh, flavorful, and packed with quality meats and toppings. If I come back, it will be for the sub alone--and maybe to give one of their pizzas a try. The chicken marsala, however, was a letdown. The chicken cutlet was thicker than I prefer and ended up being a little tough. More importantly, the marsala sauce lacked the rich, hearty flavor that makes this dish so comforting. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't have the depth or savory mushroom-forward flavor I was expecting. Overall, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The Greek salad was fresh and a nice addition to the meal, but it wasn't enough to make up for the disappointment of the entrée. Since this was a takeout order, I can't really comment much on the overall service. The young lady who handed me my food wasn't particularly friendly, but she wasn't rude either--just kind of neutral. The interaction was quick and uneventful. Overall, Mamma Rosa's wasn't a bad experience, but it also wasn't one that left me eager to return. The Italian sub was excellent and is the only thing that would bring me back, along with maybe trying a pizza. As for the pasta dishes, I don't think I'd order those again

The food, as it should be is the star of the show. I ordered the Duck, which was the best duck I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. Some places can over cook it in an attempt to get that crispy skin, but here it was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy, meat flavorful and juicy, and not overly greasy. The sweet potato puree was excellent and elevated the meal. The drinks menu was really good. Our friends are Wine Connessiuers and we're impressed with the selection. Not a Connessiuer myself, though I do enjoy a nice red every now and then, our selection was really good. This has been high on my "want to try" for a long time and finally saw an opportunity with an available reservation, went for it and am so happy I did. I dined solo, which I rarely do, but this was the perfect place for it. It was apparent that most people dining were regulars. The owner was chatting with just about everyone and diners were popping over to other tables to say hello, as well. Felt like a very small town. Service was perfect - not overbearing, but perfectly timed for a good flow throughout dinner. Their menu changes often, so some of the items I loved, may not be available - but it does seem like their fried oysters are a mainstay and holy moly, they were delicious. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!
