usually go to San Antonio for great Chinese food but didnt have the time so we decided to try Rice 2 Go. Well that won't happen again the food was extremely subpar. One order was made this morning and was on a steam table I'm guessing the other Oder was way over cooked. Egg rolls were from H‑E‑B I think. I asked the price and was told it would be 21 plus tax. Well tax was almost 8 dollars because for two orders it was 28 and change.It was all very bland and either overcooked or undercooked.Wont be back there again. I like getting the hot and sour soup, the egg drop soup, and the combination lo mein with rice noodles (thinner noodles than egg noodles). We had lunch here on a Saturday when they're aren't any lunch specials, but that was ok with us. What wasn't ok was the condition of our table. In the reflection on the table, I could see finger streaks and smears even though it looked like it had been wiped. This probably comes from using the same cleaning rag on all of the tables in the restaurant. I used a white paper napkin to wipe the table and could see how dirty it really was. I had the Mixed Vegetables with chicken for lunch and it was 'ok'. I've had better but considering that LaVernia is a little town, the food was alright but was too sweet and didn't have the flavor I'm used to. The wonton soup was good and the egg rolls were alright but the fried rice fell short. I give them credit for their large servings but I think they could improve their food flavors, and do a much better job of cleaning. read more

I have had better food from Safeway in Washington state. General Tso Chicken is my favorite, right behind vegetable fried rice. There are two Chinese restaurants in La Vernia, one is meh, the other is not even Chinese food. This is the later. THE WORST Chinese food in La Vernia. The fried rice looks more like Mexican rice and has no flavor. The chicken is frozen bs tossed in a sauce that is supposed to resemble general Tso. The chow mein looks more like Top Ramen. We tried to give them a second chance, fail. Epic fail. Will NEVER go back. If you are going to cook ethnic food, learn how to do it properly. read more

First and last time to this restaurant. We ordered general chow chicken with fried rice and received luke warm, dry, rubbery chicken which appeared to have been under the heat lamp most of the day. The sauce on the chicken appeared to have been ladled out of a pan, drizzled over the old chicken, and tossed in a bowl. The fried rice was no better. We received white rice topped with a soy sauce mix, no veggies, no nothing but the tasteless sauce. This is the first time we've had to throw out Chinese food because it was so bad. I live in La Vernia and the restaurant choices are very limited. So, we were excited to see RTG come to LV. We love the floresville store! It was a little slow when they started out but boy are they fast now! We ordered General Chow, chicken, special fried rice and crab rangoons. First time going here & Ordered beef fried rice, egg rolls, & Tso chicken. I was disappointed in all. The portions are large but their is simply no Chinese flavor to this. I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants in & around San Antonio for years, but this is lacking. The hot mustard sauce (not packets- I asked for the real sauce) was not even hot at all. Usually makes my nose run. Tasted just like plain mustard. Sweet & sour sauce was good. Egg rolls are small but I can't describe the ingredients inside, I took apart to see, they were not good. Crab Rangoon was good. Beef fried rice needed some salt or something, lots of ingredients, the beef was tender but gray in color. I even put chili oil on it, like I always do & it was just red oil, no heat or flavor. Both rice needed some salt or spice, very dark in color & don't think it came from soy sauce. I'm not a salt person, very seldom add to my food. The chicken is like small sticks/ finger of chicken. Nothing tasted of soy sauce, ginger or any Chinese spice. I was so looking forward to this & hate to say I will probably not return. I don't like to write negative comments, but this was not good. I paid almost $30 for this & was expecting better, cause so many say it's good. The restaurant was not crowded only a few cars & I went thru the drive thru & waited about 15 minutes. Order person was very nice & accommodating. But ...Overall, it's a no go for me. I hope they improve in time or better yet should taste the food themselves. read more

Excellent place, it is your typical Chinese food with massive proportions. I will say the fried rice is just decent but the rest makes up for it. Loved the sesame chicken, eggrolls, wontons and oh my gosh the wonton soup. Plus they have a drive thru! Since moving to Stockdale, I intend to stock up on their wonton soup every time I pass by.
