    Salt & Pepper Shrimp
    Ruthie W.

This past Wednesday, we headed to Sichuan House for dinner. We ordered the Dong Po Pork Belly, pork soup dumplings, green beans, and Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Overall, it was good. The pork belly was melt in your mouth tender. So good. It's the best dish for sure. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp didn't come with the shell, which was fantastic. It had great flavor. Some of the soup dumplings stuck to the serving dish so we lost some soup. Still pretty good. Highly recommend to check this place out.

EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We ordered the whole menu (see the picture, it was cheat day) Shrimp Fried rice, general tso chicken, Mongolian beef, cumin lamb, fried ribs and the pork belly! There was nothing that wasn't amazing! Our server Valencia was soooo attentive and polite and to make things even better the owner, "Sichuan Papi" even came out and told us the restaurants origin and the tradition behind all the menu items! Perfection, Great place!

"Crispy, spicy, and savory" chicken with rice

We ordered the food online and went to pick it up. I had no issues with the order, staff was nice and the food was prepared and ready to go fairly quickly. It was my first time coming here and heard good things about the food. Packaging was nice overall. Nothing was spilled and things were separated. One of the sauce containers was a bit melted from the heat and warped it spilling some sauce but thankfully the top didn't fully get taken off. The dumplings were delicious and the spring rolls were good. Absolutely would get these again. The chicken fried rice was simple but cooked well for the family. I ordered "Crispy, spicy and savory" chicken with white rice and it was awesome. The seasoning was perfect and definitely had a nice kick to it with the spices. Alot of red peppers with my meal though but overall delicious. You do have the option to make your meals spicier if it's not enough heat. Overall I had a good experience with the food and service. Next time I'll try to stay and eat at the restaurant as it does look nice and roomy inside.

Soggy drenched in oil Spicy savory chicken

This place has really gone downhill. The food quality and taste have noticeably declined, and it's not just a one-time issue. I'm not sure if there's been a change in ownership, management, or cooks, but the difference is obvious. On my most recent visit, the spicy savory chicken was drenched in oil and completely soggy -- barely edible. I brought it up to the waiter, and like previous visits, nothing meaningful was done. There was no sense of urgency or concern. To make matters worse, on a prior visit I found a long hair in my lo mein. The dish was simply replaced with no apology or acknowledgment. That kind of response is unacceptable, especially when food safety is involved. This place used to be a go-to, but lately it's been one disappointment after another. Between the declining food quality, overly greasy dishes, and poor handling of customer concerns, I can no longer recommend it. I hope management takes notice before more customers stop coming.

I went to Sichuan House after seeing it on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, but the experience was kind of a miss. I ordered the garlicky cold noodles, Dongpo pork, and cumin lamb. The Dongpo pork was disappointing. It was barely warm in the middle and tougher than the "melt on your fork" advertised. The cumin lamb had good flavor and spice, but there was very little actual meat. The noodles were okay but nothing memorable. Overall, it did not live up to the hype for me, though the flavors show some potential. Although, maybe as someone who eats a lot of Chinese food, I may be too harsh on this local spot.

Let me start with how this review came about. We were die hard fans of their sister restaurant Dashi. They sadly closed 2 weeks before our annual Thanksgiving lunch there. Decided to go to Sichuan House instead because they said their chefs were moving there. We had made a 1pm reservation and arrived on time and told to wait about 20 minutes for tables to clear. No problem, we knew it was a busy day. We got seated. Server was AMAZING. Food...not so much. Average at best. We overheard the other server apologizing to another table that complained about the food saying that their chefs are still learning from the Dashi chefs. We ordered a lot. First off, the best item we ordered was the green beans. Amazing. In addition we ordered: hot and sour soup, soup dumplings, spring rolls, smashed cucumbers, enlightened fungi trio, bao buns, numbing spicy crispy savory calamari, mala spicy numbing tofu pot, kung pao chicken, dongpo pork belly, love me hate me spicy cumin beef. The kung pao chicken had zero flavor. Worst dish. Pork belly was good, spicy cumin was average and not spicy, the numbing pot and the calamari were kinda bland. Barely any spice and we asked for hottest level spice and numbing. The fungi trio was pretty good. We also ordered chrysanthemum tea and a oolong tea. They didn't have enough teapots and was only able to bring the oolong tea out at the beginning. Only two tea bags in the whole pot and we had to wait about 20 minutes for them to actually steep in there or else the tea was just clear water. Barely any flavor. He eventually brought the other tea but by then dinner was already done. It was a loose leaf tea so mostly just chunks in water, no filter on pot. He did comp that tea. When we asked about a few of the dishes and why they were so bland in comparison to Dashi he replied with "yeah Dashi was a lot better". We were very saddened. Maybe we will try again if the chefs get better. Our server did great. The atmosphere was more like eating at small diner. We had to ask for chopsticks as they were not automatically brought out. I will add that many of the dishes had a vegan option with tofu. Definitely A++ for that. We only got a few pictures after we had started eating.

I love this restaurant! It's authentic Chinese food and it is so delicious. I was sad because the sister restaurant dash closed down but this one is just as good. So it Chinese food but it has options and they have American Style Chinese food I believe lo- mein , orange chicken etc but I come for some very specific dishes actually my favorite. 10/10Burning man noodles- they are like thin noodles to me and they come with beef but it's cooked with some type of chili oil and it has a very unique taste. It's meant for you to mix all 3 ingredients and eat them all together it is so delicious especially if you like spicy foods. 10/10 Crispy spicy & savory fish So good. The fish is cooked to a delicious crisp but it's not dry. The fish is also very tender and the spice is just right I usually go in with a fish & chili flakes just makes it taste better. It looks crazy spicy but it's only spicy if you eat the chili flakes. I've tried the chicken it's good if you don't like fish taste but I prefer the fish. 10/10 Jasmine tea Next time I want to try the sweet zing spicy garlic chicken. The dishes are very large portion almost for 2 people. Viktoria our waitress was very nice and she explained the dishes to us. The restaurant is very nice open space it has 2 areas and I didn't see any booths only tables. They offer free water. The menu has so many different options.

Great option for authentic Chinese food in San Antonio! The Sichuan items truly are spicy. I got the Mayo tofu and it was good. My husband ordered the duck and the flavor was great. Definitely will come back and try a few of their other menu items. We came for a birthday dinner for a family member and the server was super sweet as well.

What a great restaurant and a shining Beacon processed one cuisine in San Antonio pepper pandemonium is the perfect description for what I had. My wife had the salt and pepper fish which was great and my son went with a classic chicken Chinese dish and all were delicious and flavorful

I see this question has already been asked before, and the answer was no, however I recently saw on social media that there are now soup dumplings. Is this true?

Oh my gosh, it was absolutely superb! *Chef's Kiss* We were the first people to arrive, which could have been a bummer, but it turned out to be a great experience. Our server was super patient with us since it was our first time there. She gave us some helpful tips and explained the menu items. She even answered all our questions! We started with the Famous Green Beans, the Garlicky Cold "Noods," and some chicken crispy dumplings. I'm not usually a green bean guy, but these were surprisingly good. The chicken crispy dumplings were a really cool twist on gyozas. And the cold garlicky "noods"! I could've had those all by myself and been happy. They were such a great way to start the meal. Most of the entrees are shareable family-style, so the portions are easy for two or more people. As we waited for our entree, I decided to try the Dashi Cooler for a cocktail. It was mellow, refreshing, and a bit tart, but it was a well-crafted drink. I also ordered another cocktail, but I'll tell you more about it later. Our entree of the Love Me or Hate Me Spicy Lamb Cumin arrived with a side of steamed rice. This is definitely a shareable dish. The lamb was so tender and flavorful. The veggies that came with it were seasoned and cooked just right to give them a nice crunch. As we were working this table full of food, I decided to try another cocktail from their specialty menu. I chose the Purple Moon, which is their version of a French 75 with Ube to give it a purple color. It was done really well. I'd definitely order it again on my next visit. According to their menu, happy hour is every day from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Overall, we were so impressed with our visit to Dashi that we were talking about having a birthday dinner there that's not for another few months. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu and cocktails. They're definitely a place I'll be visiting again!

The restaurant is small, but spacious and had a very open and welcoming feel. We were immediately seated and given time to explore the menu. We ordered the salt and pepper fish, kung pow chicken, and tofu with vegetables, bbq buns, spring rolls, and pork dumplings. The salt and pepper fish. You don't need anything else else. This was arguably the best fish I've ever had. It was perfectly seasoned, light, and crispy and was accompanied by some tender cilantro leaves and stems. I don't know what magic spell they use, but I'll never order anything else. I'm often a creature of habit with my orders and stick to what I know I'll like, but this surpassed my expectations. The pork dumplings were also incredible. It packed so much flavor and moisture in a small bite. The bbq pork buns were pillowy soft with a hint of sweetness and packed full of flavor and tender bbq pork. The spring rolls were steamy hot and crispy. Not as memorable as the other starters, but solid. The kung pow chicken was excellent. It had a nice kick and was cooked perfectly with just enough sauce. The tofu veggies were good (but even better the next day). The tofu was the right texture and the veggies were crisp and seasoned well. The friendly staff, the delicious food, and the chill atmosphere made for a wonderful pre holiday lunch!

I used Doordash, which I usually have pretty good luck with, especially when my son orders it through his own account. You go into the app and get the support folks to cancel it, or it is called "customer initiated" and you lose your refund. Anyway, Doordash had the order redone and delivered with a new driver. Let's get to Sichuan Garden. I ordered from here because they had some "non- standard" offerings. I lived in Taiwan a while back and upon return to the US never acquired a taste for the supposedly authentic Americanized dishes. I ordered stir fried pork tripe and pork intestines in spicy chili sauce. I got a complimentary side of fried rice with each of them. I also ordered beef lomein for my son and 4 eggrolls. I tasted the lomein, and it was just okay. I have definitely had better. The egg rolls were "delivery soggy" but tasted fantastic. Can't complain there. The trip and intestine dishes were both delicious. I could eat them every day for the rest of my life and be satisfied. The fried rice, though, was awful. I used it the next day to make a much more improved version at home. All in all, I like the food from Sichuan Garden. I am anxious to go there and dine in. There are some other "non-standard" items I want to try.

A few years ago it was Pho. So, I do have a favorite, but I still need to try new places. Well, I am, & this place is pretty phenomenal. The inside is so sweet & simple. You feel real comfortable & peaceful being in there I found them just by driving through the parking lot looking for Holy Pops for a Yelp Elite event. I wanted to try them out, & I'm so happy I did. They exceed my expectations. I walked in & was greeted by one of the waitresses, I let her know it would be a to go order, but I've never been there. She explained how things could be ordered. Steamed vs fried, for example. I regret not snapping photos of the menu, but they have one online. For that matter my food was consumed before a single photo was taken. (That's how you know it's good! At least with me! ) I went with an order of pan fried dumplings, an order of pan fried pork bao, & one order steamed pork bao. Do not be in a rush when you come. Everything is made fresh. You want it to be. Oh my goodness. These bao are amazing. The dough is the perfect thickness, IMO. The meatball inside though mine were a little larger than a golf ball. Juicy, flavorful & couldn't get enough. Made me want a dozen!. Just don't have the stomach to eat that many. Means I'll have to make more trips. The dumplings, pan fried - were so delicious. I sit in my car most of the time & inform them. Then, I just come sit down.) They apologized & I explained I make this food, I understand & am happy to wait, just means it'll be good. And boy was it!!!!

It's been a while since I came back to Mian, but everything was still the same in great food!…read more I ordered the beef noodle soup along with pork shrimp chive dumplings! My friend ordered the lamb soup and lamp dumplings, which I was scared to try due to past experiences. Surprisingly, lamb dumplings was a huge hit! I would order that over the pork shrimp chive dumplings. There's a juicy sweetness to the flavors that captivated me. I do say, their noodles, although the menu says wide, they are pretty medium sized thickness. For a Saturday lunch time, it wasn't super busy and the service was on par.

Birthdays. Promotions. It all happens under the Best Quality Daughter roof. Wether we are fighting for the last bit of the Brussels Sprouts, or ordering two orders of cashew chicken to make sure we have more to eat during the week, BQD is a beautiful environment where many great memories were housed, and I'm always looking for the next excuse to come! Came here post gradation as it was the restaurant my daughter selected - it's been a while since we…read morehave been here and we were excited to go back Food is amazing- only reason I have it as a 3 star is the service is underwhelming and a solid 1!! We ordered 2 cocktails, a lemonade and a mocktail - that took 15 minutes longer than everyone else so the toast to the grad who ordered it was delayed as appetizers came out before her drink Timing was also way off - we were asked what appetizers we wanted shortly after being seated and when we did order and told them we would start with the smaller bites and order the mains for later - everything came out at the same time except for one dish that was way later than everything else So before food let's talk service - it was a special graduation meal and though the food was good - the service is enough to make me not want to go back. The server was just socially awkward, was not able to converse and seemed to struggle with every aspect of the role! We spent over 20 minutes trying to flag her - then anyone down- just to order a soda as the mocktail was not good! We wanted second drinks but as there was no service to be found - we gave up. Dishes were dumped on the table by whoever brought them as we then sat with dirty / empty dishes throughout the meal except for the one or two we gave back and the one with food in it that was taken! Things got weird when we asked to bag up two dishes when the server seemed to really get confused and had to take time for her process and ignored the dessert order - then came to the table and asked if we wanted dessert!?!! She was very pleasant but the role of a server might not be best for her! Now the food however was a solid 5 - the chili crisp crab burrata was one of the best dishes I have had anywhere ! The garlic sticky noodles were also fantastic , loved the smashed cucumber, the impossible pot stickers were not as good as in the past as they were cold and chewy - almost as though they had been made days ahead and were stale! The mapo tofu was great and we have plenty left over and my husband and daughter enjoyed the cashew chicken! We love the quaint setting, great playlist and fantastic food but service throughout from the server to the folks expediting dishes was substandard ! For this reason would hesitate returning in a hurry!

The service was great we were seated immediately, checked on several times, and the food came out quickly. Everyone was also friendly and welcoming. We tried the egg rolls, crab rangoon dip, cornbread, Spam fried rice, and honey walnut shrimp. Every dish was a 10/10 with great flavor and something unique to offer. The crab rangoon dip and cornbread stood out the most among the appetizers. The dip was an absolute hit and is something I'd definitely recommend. The cornbread had a subtle sweetness that paired well with its flavor. I also liked how it had a waffle shape to it, very different. I was a bit skeptical about the honey walnut shrimp at first because it looked pretty simple, but it ended up being delicious. The Spam fried rice was also nice, the pineapple paired great in it. Everything felt shareable its great spot to order several dishes for the table. If you check out this place, I'd recommend going with a group. The vibe was laid back, and the decor really tied everything together, making it feel like a fun hangout spot with a lot of personality.

It's funky to find, because the entrance is in an alley. We were a party of 17, with many separate checks. Cat did an amazing job at keeping up with everyone's orders and drink replenishments! They have a little happy hour menu with a couple drinks and food items. We got the $1 egg rolls and they were basic egg rolls. I got ginger noodles and added chicken and I wasn't crazy about them...they were ok. Someone got the spam fried rice and I tried that and it was fantastic. Many of their plates are shareable. Parking was a pain, so I may not go back. But it's worth the experience.
