I was soooo scared to get my nose done. I have disliked it my whole life - but I've always thought I was pretty. So doing plastic surgery really scared me in case it looked worse than it did before. I definitely shed some tears in the office both pre and post op because it is big decision! But I am so happy with the results. Whenever I see pictures of myself I no longer hate my nose! I am a happily married 32 year old with 3 kiddies. I am now 4 weeks post op from a breast lift and augmentation. I could not be any happier!!!!!!!!! I decided to do my surgery with Dr. Chafoo after interviewing several surgeons for a rhinoplasty surgery. He was the first doctor that I truly felt comfortable with his ability and who put me at ease about the surgery. I am now three weeks post op and couldn't be happier with my results! Post surgery I had very minimal bruising, but quite a bit of swelling in my nose and face in general but I did not ice as regularly I should have. I was expecting the pain and experience to be awful but it was tolerable and only had some pain two days post op and then it was gone. Dr. Chafoo's nurses, Nancy and Patti are amazing!! I absolutely love Dr. Chaffoo and his staff. I received a septorhinoplasty and turbinectomy both for medical and cosmetic improvement reasons. I also had a scar above my lip and under my nose and he has been helping to improve that as well. He is super sweet and professional. Nancy is so fun to work with as well. I had some plastic surgery performed by Dr. Chaffoo recently. I must confess to being a bit apprehensive at first, but my fears and concerns vanished on my first visit to his office. His staff made me feel like one of the family and was very professional at the same time. Then I met Dr. Chaffoo and his kind, gentle and caring manner convinced me to go ahead with the surgery. Dr. Chafoo is so compassionate and took the time to understand my concerns for a corrective surgery, on a botched skin cancer surgery (by another Dr. in O.C.) He has worked with me to slowly work on the scar and it looks so much better. I also have Dr. Stuart now as my dermatologist and we are fighting the actinic keratosis and have had two skin cancer surgeries in the office, all very compassionately treated and very effectively. Let me just start out by saying this review is not just about Dr. Chaffoo, but his entire staff. I have been a long time patient of Dr. Chaffoo and have been somewhat pleased....that is until he changed locations and STAFF!! His new office is absolutely horrible. His staff seems very inexperienced and I have since experienced nothing but problems. I wait hours to be seen by the doctor, get improperly billed by my insurance and have to endure the lack of skills by his staff. Before reading into my complaint please be aware that Dr Chaffoo performed a breast augmentation as well which I am please with but sadly the unwanted and unnecessary liposuction procedure which was CROSS SOLD to me completely ruins it for me... I deeply regret walking into Dr Chaffoo's office in March of 2013. I had originally come in because I was thinking about getting a breast augmentation and possible liposuction in one small area, however, I knew nothing about liposuction and just wanted a bit more information about it before making the decision. I spoke with Rebecca who was a very persistent woman and I decided to get a breast aug but meanwhile she insisted that if I wanted to get lipo in one small area it wouldn't be worth it unless I had more done. I did not think it was going to be excessive by the way she insisted and I hoped it would be subtle. I hesitated and told her repeatedly that I wanted to think about it more before deciding on the liposuction because I really didn't think I needed it and I could just lose weight on my own. I knew absolutely nothing about liposuction or how it was to be performed. She insisted that I do it all together and have my breast aug and liposuction at once. Finally, upon her insistence and CROSS SELLING TECHNIQUE possibly to gain commission from the sale of the multiple procedures, I said okay. I pointed out small areas that I okayed having done such as a little in my UPPER waist, stomach and upper back around the bra line. The Dr barely spoke to me about it and went ahead and performed the procedure without speaking to me about it first. (Upon my first complaint in telling him that more was done than I wanted he stated that he only did what I had asked. How did he know what I okayed if most of my communication with was that nurse of his Rebecca and he barely even spoke to me about the procedure. He only went off of what she apparently told him and she misunderstood me adding my entire back to be done and taking much more fat than I would have been ok with. I had NO idea that liposuction was about removing so much fat, I didn't even need it! He DID NOT confirm with me what was to be done!) If he would have talked to me about it I would have told him that I really did NOT want liposuction but the consultant was insisting on it therefore I didn't think it was a heavy procedure. I came out of the procedure swollen in several areas of my body, in excruciating pain for several months and apparently 5 lbs were removed from my stomach upper and lower waist as well as my entire BACK which I never approved of. She stupidly misunderstood that I only wanted a small area done around my bra line, upper back NOT my entire back including my lower back... I was NOT warned that I would be in excruciating pain for several months, I was not warned that 5 lbs of fat would be removed and in the end I was left with a noticeable indentation in my right lower waist because he apparently removed more from one side than the other. My back still looks disgusting and as this surgery occurred 15 months ago, I have still not been able to get over the trauma of the surgery. Things that I was not warned about because it seems to me like they were solely interested in the money and not my well being. He NEVER even confirmed with me what I wanted done so more was done than I wanted and I am not happy with my body now. Before surgery, all I had to do was lose weight and I felt proportionate, looked and felt good. Now, no matter what I do I always feel disproportionate... Upon weight loss I also still appear out of proportion and uneven in many areas. I did NOT need this surgery and it appears that he was solely interested in the money... In my opinion, liposuction should be reserved for those who have been considering the procedure for years because they are unable to lose weight. NO ONE should ever be duped into liposuction or have it cross-sold to them as an additional procedure. The stress, the excruciating pain, the trauma, the lifetime disfigurement that comes along with this is not fair to a patient who merely comes in for another procedure such as a breast aug. Especially, if the patient is hesitant and continues to say NO to the procedure. BEWARE: DO NOT LET THEM CROSS SELL YOU LIPOSUCTION. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Chaffoo a few months ago. The consultation went great and I really felt that I had found the right Dr for my procedure. I paid the $500 surgery holding date fee and was on my way. About 5 weeks ago I was informed that I had some serious health issues and that I would need to focus on those before moving forward with my plastic surgery. I contacted Dr. Chaffoo's office and spoke with the "Office Manager" and advised her what I was facing and requested to have my surgery taken off of the books for now and that I would reschedule my surgery once I got the green light from my primary care physician. I requested that my $500 please be refunded back to me. The "office manager advised that refunds were not processed until the end of the month. I didn't feel that there was any reason why the office would need to hold onto my money for that long as it was only the first day of November and I didn't like the idea of having to wait a whole month to receive my funds back. I have never had to wait 4 weeks to have a refund processed. That just doesn't sound right. I advised the "Office Manager" that this was unacceptable and that I would like them to please process my refund and return my funds asap. There is no reason why an office that makes thousands of dollars a day would need to hold onto my measly $500 for that long of a time. And I am pretty sure it's not because there is a lot patients canceling that they just can't keep up with all the refunds. The "office manager said that she would see what she could do and call me back. I have never heard back from her nor have I received my funds. I have left several messages and called the office over and over again for a week straight. Every time I call I get the same answer, that she has stepped away from her desk and can I please leave a message. I have left 4 messages and also advised the receptionist of my concerns with the office's lack of communication. I called again today and was told the same thing. I left a very long and VERY detailed message expressing my frustrations with their handling of this issue. At this point I will never go back to Dr's Chaffoo's office. The complete lack of professionalism that the office has shown me has showed me that they are not worthy of my business. Dr. Chaffoo himself is a really nice man and I am sure that he does great work, however his "Office Manager" has given me no choice but to take my business elsewhere. CAUTION: I suspect some of the reviews on here are fake because I was a patient of a non-cosmetic functional septoplasty/rhinoplasty surgical procedure by Dr. Chaffoo and I had an EXTREMELY TERRIBLE experience with both him and his staff in multiple ways. Let me begin by stating that Chaffoo was quite charming during the consultation, but once the procedure had been completed I felt like they had just wanted the money and he didn't seem to care about me and hustled me in and out during my follow-ups. His post-surgical bedside manner was the worst I have ever seen in my entire life, EVER -- and I've met quite a few doctors over the years. The really sad part about this is that Chaffoo used a very outdated technique that failed. It wouldn't have failed had he used the modern technique. Two other physicians I consulted with after the surgery said it was not technically malpractice, but they did describe the technique as "bad medicine". It really sucked -- and I couldn't breath normally through my nose for months until I was able to get the revision by another doctor. I felt like his practice seemed shady. His staff repeatedly took forever to return my calls when I needed information. When I came in for my follow-up, his secretary asked how my wife was doing -- except I'm not even married! His whole staff just seemed unprofessional, disorganized, and questionable. Did he hire the cheapest people in town? They refused to give any estimates for the procedure, saying they wouldn't know until afterward. They ended up billing my insurance a ton of money which was way above the industry norm. Part my of nasal cavity is now permanently damaged and cannot be repaired. It has really affected my life and I have nothing but regrets. Shocked as this guy advertises that he is a triple-board certified ear, nose, and throat specialist! I would tell anyone to avoid him like the plague. Steer clear! Nightmare! read more
