I have somewhat neglected my teeth during many years of not having insurance, and Dr. Lee has really educated me about the importance of flossing all the time to take care of my gums. At first some of her explanations were a little bit over my head, but she was able to get the point across. She replaced a crown that I had done in Mexico and I could tell she is a bit of a perfectionist, and seems passionate about her work. Plus she is well mannered and has tiny hands which is custom tailored for working in tight spaces. She even showed me how to floss properly, which sounds really basic but there is a proper technique and it's not just pushing the string through your teeth. If you want to know more about this, ask me in a P.M. lol Of course going to the dentist isn't fun by any means. Yes you get stuck with a needle, have to sit still for a long time, it costs money, you have to here about how you need to do better oral maintenance, but you need to go and this is a good place, conveniently located in Mira Mesa. She was gentle on my veneers and I very much appreciate this . I was done within 40 minutes which was great . After the cleaning treatment, I had a filling replaced . No pain , I was not numb afterwards either which is amazing!! I was so relaxed during the procedure I almost fell asleep After that , I was able to make a follow up appointment for some possible replacement fillings in April with Dr Caruso . When I called A+ Plus Dental, the gentleman who answered the phone and scheduled my first appt. was very pleasant, professional, and courteous. Thus far, I 've had three (3) appointments at their Mira Mesa location. I need to share with you that I am EXTREMELY PLEASED & Impressed with the Quality of Care I received from the entire staff during all three (3) of my visits. The Front Office staff is very welcoming and Dr. Chen, is very knowledgeable, friendly, calming, and VERY Customer Service oriented, which in my opinion, says a lot about their practice. MAIN ISSUE: my lower gums are receding (aka.- long teeth...LOL), irritated, and ugly:( FIRST APPOINTMENT: x-rays were taken and Dr. Chen came up with a treatment plan which they thoroughly explained to me, and we discussed the Alphaeon financing which I was preapproved for. Dr. Chen recommended that I have what is called a full-mouth debridement teeth cleaning, as well as laser assisted gum treatment. (If you have gum disease, Google it)! I made that appointment for later the same week. AFTER THE TREATMENT: My gums look much healthier. They are pink -ish rather than red and irritated-looking, and here's something that is Very Impressive to me. This is the FIRST time in FOUR (4) years that I am able to FLOSS my Teeth without my gums bleeding! I am now taking much better care of my gums and teeth (flossing, using a waterpik, etc) and have an appointment with their Periodontist in January to re-evaluate my gum recession. I brought my mother, who does not speak English, to her first appointment and was charged a $75 fee for changing the appointment within 48 hours, even though we had never been to the clinic before and I was not clearly informed of that policy in advance. The dental consultation costed $335, but we did not receive information that justified the expense. This made the advertised "free consultation" completely misleading. When I later called and asked to speak directly with the dentists about the charges and concerns, an iffice staff said she would pass along my message, but I never received a call back from that office. After more back-and-forth about fees and scheduling, the manager Hector, very rudely texted me that they did not want us as clients. I accepted that decision and requested a refund of $928 for the appointments and exams, but the clinic has not refunded the amount and has indicated that more money is still owed. Overall, the experience left us feeling dismissed, overcharged, and unable to communicate directly with the providers. I strongly recommend looking for another dental office with clearer policies, better communication, and most importantly, trustworthy front-office support.

I've lived out of the area before (Santa Barbara, Alaska...and my parents lived in Atlanta for several years, too...) and we've always made the pilgrimage back to Dr. Hopper's for our cleanings and dental needs. In fact, my grandparents used to come visit from Massachusetts in the summers and they'd always get a dental cleaning while here...and they even had some bigger dental work done with Dr. Hopper, too, while visiting. Dr. Hopper is the only dentist I've ever been to, so I can't make a judgment based on comparison, however, when you experience quality, expert care...it needs no comparison. He has remained cutting edge with respect to his knowledge, while retaining a solid foundation in sound dental practice. One of my teeth started hurting recently and I needed help. Dr. Hopper was out of town on vacation and I was a bit nervous to be treated by someone new. It was a non issue... Dr. Hopper chose well. Dr. Britton is great. He has the same care and appreciation for his patients that drew me to Dr. Hopper's office. I had to have a root canal (bummer), but they were professional, careful and gentle. The cleaning was great as well, and although I forgot the tech's name, she was thorough and quite informed. I'm def going back for my cleanings with this tech. My care with Dr. Janice felt especially thoughtful and focused. She kept me informed every step of the way and clearly explained the risks and benefits of different treatment options. I really value that, because many dentists do not give the full picture unless they are trying to steer you in a certain direction. Here, the discussion felt balanced, transparent, and aligned with what I already understood about my dental history and what I had previously been told might happen. I was also impressed that she understood my situation before I even had to explain it fully. A lot of the time, I find myself filling in the background first before a provider adjusts their view. That was not the case here. Highly recommend this office if you are looking for a new dentist.
