I've been seeing Dr. Cheung occasionally since 2005, when I was injured training for a marathon. The orthopedic surgeon I saw wanted to give me a cortisone shot and told me to quit running. Dr. Cheung discovered my quadriceps was stronger than my hamstring and was pulling my kneecap out of position. He worked on stretching the muscle and I was running pain-free in a week. Starting going to dr. CHEUNG a few years ago. He is always great and really professional. The location is really easy to get to. He fixed my lower back pain after no one was able to. One time I went in and saw his partner dr. Choy Unruh because he was teaching at a seminar. She was excellent. Very friendly and adjusted me very well but gentle as well. As an athlete, I need some repairs from time to time. Dr Cheung has time and time again fixed me up from Major injuries to minor. The Kinesio Tape is amassing. I have been to different chiropractors and by far Richard Cheung and his staff are the greatest. They always accomadate me with my hectic schdule and are always friendly. I somehow had muscle spasm on my upper back and was in a lot of pain. Dr Cheung was recommended by a friend so I decided to give it a try. When I called, the receptionist was really nice about trying to accomodate me in for the same day. I wasn't sure what to expect as I am always hesitant meeting a new doctor for the first time. I never visited a chiropractor in my life, until I severely injured my shoulder while working out. My boyfriend, who has been a client of Dr. Cheung for 5 years now, called him and explained my injury to him, that very same day Dr. Cheung had me come into his office. His staff was very friendly, and his office was comforting and relaxing. This is a wonderful place, I had an sprained ankle and after a couple weeks of the swelling not going down I decided to find a place that specializes in injuries like this. I discovered this place from doing a yelp search, within a week my swelling had decreased tremendously and i was mobile again. I recently got into a car accident and started to experience neck, back and shoulder pain. I visited another chiropractor my friend recommended but the condition did not improve. I found Dr. cheung on yelp and decided to give him a try. Immediately after the first treatment I felt improvement. I was going to pay for the treatments out of pocket because the other party's insurance company told me that I have to pay everything out of pocket first and they may or may NOT reimburse me. I had some pretty bad hip pain for over a year. I had tried another chiropractor, but she was unable to figure out exactly what the issue was and basically gave up on me. When I came here, I was not terribly hopeful.. But Dr. Cheung seriously worked his butt off to help me! He even worked with my insurance to get me a TENS unit to take home. This review is far, far overdue. I'll start by saying that live in the South Bay and happily make the drive to this office in Pasadena because I only want the best physical therapy available, and that's exactly what you'll get here. If you come to this office you will see either Dr.Cheung or Dr.Kang, and they are both absolutely incredible therapists. I first came here about two years ago, with I.T band syndrome so bad that I could barely walk, and only did so in extreme pain. I had no idea what was causing this pain or what an I.T band even was, but Dr.Cheung was able to diagnose me within the first few minutes of meeting him. He treated me with the Graston technique, which was quite uncomfortable, but undeniably effective. He also used kinesio tape, and prescribed a series of stretches and recommended using a yoga ball for additional treatment at home. It took a few months of this treatment, but they had me walking, running, and hiking again as if nothing had ever happened. I now come here for regular adjustments and any injuries I may have, and am currently receiving treatment for a car accident that I was in. I've been to quite a few different physical therapists in my life and Dr.Cheung and Dr.Kang are simply the best. Their office staff are just as great as the doctors themselves, and you can't help but feel like family when you come here. I'd send family, friends, coworkers, strangers, literally everyone here. Last Saturday my lower back was so bad I could not sit in my comfy chair at my son's soccer game. I called Dr. Cheung and he was able to make time for me during his very busy Saturday. Dr. Cheung listened to me and adjusted me followed by some therapy. Dr. Cheung applied Kinesio tape to my lower back, which made a HUGE difference in supporting my lower back. The Kinesio tape also helped with the discomfort I was having. I kept that tape on until I saw him again a couple days later. I would highly recommend Dr. Cheung to anyone who needs Chiropractic treatment. His office is clean and equipped with a sate of the art adjusting table that moves and stretches you out before your adjustment. After my adjustment he put me on the roller table, which helps after your adjustment. I'm happy to say that after only 2 visits my back is normal again and I am back at the gym. Four years ago I broke my elbow and need two surgeries and physical therapy to regain the use of my arm. This past year I began to again feel pain and have difficulty using my arm, elbow, and now shoulder. One of my coworkers referred me to Dr. Cheung's office after having such a positive experience herself. I was able to get an appointment for that next week and we immediately impressed with the professionalism of the office staff. I have been to several other doctors regarding my elbow and Dr. Cheung was the first doctor to really take the time to listen to me. I suffered from a very painful low back condition and sought Dr. Cheung's help. I found Dr. Cheung to be knowledgeable as well as caring which are the two characteristics I look for in my choice of health practitioner. Me & my bf got into a car accident and have been receiving treatment here for about 4 months. To summarize, our experience at Dr. Cheung's has been smooth, trouble-free, and extremely helpful. He always made sure I was comfortable, never pressured me, and created a regimen of therapy methods that slowly but surely helped alleviate my pain & stress and heal the muscle damage in my back. Surprisingly, my range of motion in my neck and back actually increased because of how much pressure was relieved by the care I received here from both Dr. Cheung and Dr. Kang, who each have unique skills and work as a team.
