Just got into golf 2 months ago and I love it! Even though I live in the North Bay, I consider this my "home" driving range for now because my buddies that are teaching me the game live in this area. Honestly I don't mind driving an hour because I'd rather hit with temp in the 60s than 80s or 90s, lol! The range is clean, well maintained, and the beautiful and sometimes foggy hills in the background really add a lovely ambiance to the place. Usually you can find a free slot right away, but as expected, it gets busy on the weekends. But, I've noticed it also gets busy at random times during the week. The staff is excellent and very friendly as well. I'll probably be back this weekend, lol. read more

Pretty much looked on yelp for the cheapest driving range in the bay area and found this location. Being a beginner, there isn't a point to spend a ton of money on an expensive range with fancy tracking devices when half the balls I hit don't even go forward. I was pleasantly surprised to find Cypress. I've driven around this area so many times and never knew there was a driving range here. Pros: The lady at the counter is extremely friendly and nice, the range is pretty nice with lots of flags and targets, very cheap balls, lots of ports so there usually isn't a wait, lots of parking. Cons: Balls not the best quality (some cracked), there is a hill around the 200 yard mark which people may not like since you don't get to see your ball go the full distance (doesn't bother me since I can barely hit that hill), kind of hard to find. Also next to a cemetery if you're afraid of that kind of stuff. Prices: $6 for 50 balls $9 for 100 balls $12 for 150 balls You can also buy a key chain which is a $5 deposit and get 20% more credit for free if you plan on coming more than once. The key chain basically pays for itself after 1 use. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For me, this place gets 5 stars because it has everything I needed. It's close by, cheap and the service is excellent. The lady working there walked me out to the machine to teach me how to use the keychain to purchase balls. She's so nice and friendly. Basic range for the beginner golfer. I recommend getting a range key if you expect to come here more than once. It pays for itself! Whenever I go (after 5PM and weekends) I'm always able to find a stall. Everyone is pretty mellow and nice. Occasionally there are classes that take place which can take up 2-3 stalls. read more

Take it for what it's worth. one day I was hitting balls at the range and watching Jim give a lesson. he suddenly walks away and goes out to a friend a few stalls over. they start talking loudly about something they hate. Then I heard, "I hate that! I hate that race! Filipinos are the worst! Why are they so loud!" Apparently he was referring to a group of Asians which were in the middle stalls. Bunch of seniors who are just hanging out, hitting balls, having fun amongst themselves and yes they were loud. There's no tolerance for racism! Especially when he teaches in a city that's surrounded by diversity. Ignore HES fake friendliness! He's out there trying to hustle lessons but deep down he DGAF about your game or you. This is review of Tommy Kim golf instructor. While hitting balls a few stalls away from his teaching area I heard a condescending tone and words. It happened a few more times within the next 30min. When I looked over he was speaking to a young girl less than 12yrs. Why would he speak to her like than? Worst, her parents were there and they allowed it! Smh. Now if he can speak to a kid this eat, he'll prob do the same if not worst to an adult student. 30min after the lesson, he's packing up ending his day & bring his stuff back into his car. 2 females go into 2 open stalls near his teaching area. When Tommy returns he kicks them out and says it's for his students?!! Not sure how that's possible when he's leaving and he had no one else there. If his students did arrive there were 2 open stalls next to his locker they could have used. So not sure what's up with the attitude. read more

The range goes uphill so it's a little hard to understand the actual distances but someone with a range finder gave me the distance with slope and now it's pretty clear. The range is nice for practice. Plenty of parking and the proshop employees are very helpful. I called to find out if anyone turned in my sunglasses I had forgotten and Aida Raijo sent a range attendant to check. Fortunately it was found and saved me a few hundred dollars. It would be nice to see another person in the shop and perhaps snacks, bakery treats and hot & cold drinks were to be available for purchase. Seems like a very practical driving range with basic putting green and bunker practice area for a beginner like me. The staff are Latino and very patient and kind. Speaking just a little Spanish to them goes a long way! :) They took the time to explain the way their range worked, and the various offers including the discount keys. I actually liked the driving range better than the Presidio Golf Club because there was shade, and the range seemed more like a conventional target layout. There was plenty of space, the ball machines worked well, and the stalls were in good order. The putting green was a bit scruffy, but the bunker had a pretty steep face and presented a solid challenge. The flag is placed right in front of some tall trees--quite easy to lose balls if you miss the sand and sail a ball too far. Great value for money, very pleasant staff who are laid back and friendly. Good place for me to launch some balls and not worry about dropping wildlife inadvertently :P NOTE: If you are walking behind people driving in the stalls, do stay well behind that yellow line especially if you have little kids in tow. The location is excellent if you are coming from SF and northen peninsula and the staff is professional. The facility is roofed and keeps you shaded which is higly desireable for vampires and even for the majority of the non infected. It's not fancy but you are paying bottom shelf price and you definitely get more than what you pay for which is always a great deal in my book. Come on down and support this hidden local gem to keep it going. On a side note, I believe there was a public gun range nearby but long gone since as the result of the deniers of the Democratic bureaucrats and their minions most likely. read more

At the Cypress Golf Driving Range, it's a great place to hang out. They got the golf club house, the driving range, the practice short game area, putting area. The public restroom are very clean. The price are amazing & fair. Plus, I get to pay $11 dollar for 200 golf ball, just to hit at the golf driving range & it's well worth it. At the short game area & Putting area, I get to pay $5 & it's very cheap & great deal. Plus, This gave me a good practice & it helps me to sharpen my game up in Golf. AWESOME!!! Not sure why all the reviews hate on this so much. It's a basic driving range that's perfectly good at what it does. Buckets here are ~half the price of Presidio ($12 for 150 balls, as of June 2019). The pro shop sells range discounts as well if you're willing to buy increments of credit starting at $20. You do have to buy your own plastic tee. The staff in the store are pleasant and very helpful! The turf itself has seen better days, but the mats are in perfectly fine condition. Has never been anywhere close to full the times I've been, which is a key value when you just want to drop a bucket without wasting too much time. If you're familiar with Daly City/Colma weather patterns, you won't be surprised by what you find here, golfing up against the mountains. It's not going to be golfing in Cupertino, but not really much worse than the best city alternative at the Presidio. All in all, a pleasant experience if you can get past the location. read more

This is a great driving range to come and practice at. There is a big roof over the stalls, so even if there is rain, it's fine. There is also a little mesh curtain behind where you are hitting and it blocks most of the wind. The prices are pretty reasonable. Unlike TPC Harding Park, you get more for your buck. I swear the mind plays tricks on you when you play in the graveyard of golf courses, through the thick bay fog, after knocking down a brewski. The first hole of this course summed up the golfing experience for me. "Are we playing miniature golf now?" I could not see the hole from the tee area since the hill quickly sloped downwards into nothing. I found this kinda dangerous because we could not tell if the group of guys in front of us had finished up the hole. My buddy and I would of been raining errantly shot golf balls on them. The day started clear and blue when we warmed up on the driving range, the only saving grace to this golf course. The equipment and surroundings still look beaten up though, so that doesn't say much. When the fog started devouring the course halfway through our 9 hole, we decided to call it quits. On a closing note, I would also like to point out that there was a duck pond between two of the holes, a large ditch where I guess there use to be a pond, and thankfully no sightings of the undead. read more

What's scarier than discovering you've hit the ball in the cemetery part of the course at twilight? Having to go look for it by yourself. I'm kidding. I don't know if it's possible to hit a ball to the cemetery. I guess if you were really trying or were really bad. Overall, it's a good course mixed with challenging and random holes. But the low green fees make it worthwhile. The odd thing is I thought it would be less crowded since it's off the beaten path, but it can get crowded. And some of the folks out there are a little slow. read more

My fraternity decided to host an Alumni social mixer at this location. The event? Just renting clubs and buying buckets of balls from the venue and learning how to hit the ball. There wasn't much that the staff did because we didn't really need them to do anything except rent gold clubs for us. The place was pretty empty when we got there. There are machines close to the driving range where you can just put in some cash to get a bucket or however many balls you need. We didn't want to worry about going out there to get the balls back. Overall it was just fun because we were out there having fun for ourselves. That was my first time at a driving range so I have no basis for comparison but overall it was a venue that is close to our campus making it convenient and fairly fun. Probably going to go back here sometime if another event is planned. read more

Stopped by here on a whim looking for something to do while visiting our son out in the San Francisco area. Prices were good, free to borrow clubs (more on that below), etc., but the staff was the true standout.... Only requirement to borrow clubs is to leave a license so you don't wander off with them. No problem I thought, so I left my license and grabbed 5 clubs. When I was ready to leave, I trotted the clubs back, dropped them in the bin and wandered off ...without my license; totally my fault. Worse, I was rushing to leave to catch my flight back to the east coast. Realized what I had done when I got to the airport and didn't have my license...Luckily, I always travel with my passport as well so it wasn't catastrophic, but I called the range right away and the woman in the pro-shop was super-helpful and shipped it back to me - free of charge! read more

I had some time this weekend and did not want to play a full round so I thought I would try out Cypress; i figured it should be ok its only 9 holes. Well I was wrong, very wrong. This place is just horrible. I thought San Francisco's course in Golden Gate park was bad -- this is worse. I will only say that the one cool thing is that if you hit out of bounds you are in the commentary. First time here and first time at a driving range. Got here around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't crowded so there was plenty of space to play. $11 for 150 balls which was cheaper than other golf course from what I heard. If you pay $20 you get an 20% bonus extra balls, which I think this deal is better. Since its my first time here, I didn't have any complaints about the place. Overall, it was an good experience and fun! Found a new hobby! I would be back again and play. read more

I was in a very dark place and the choices I made was not acceptable for a driving range and I would like to say sorry again. This place showed me much love for me when I started 7 months ago and now I'm scared to come back I would like to apologize in person and tell you guys I'm not doing the things I was doing before and I'm in a drug program to make myself better. Colma is known for two things; dead people and, well, OK maybe it's just one thing. Golf is certainly not the siren song that draws people to the idyllic rolling green hills of Colma. This becomes quite apparent when playing at Cypress Golf Center. Cypress had, since the last time I had played it, recently sold off a piece of it's property to the cemetery that borders it. Now, I was expecting to see a funeral but on the FIRST TEE? I have to admit, I felt a little awkward heckling my buddies during their backswing with a funeral going on right next to us. God forbid you hook a shot into the cemetery or worse yet, kill an innocent mourner. The irony, oh it's bitter. Anyway this place is a dump. I'm not a great golfer or even very good but this course failed even my low expectations. Significantly shortened due to cemetery sprawl some holes are laughably short. One hole has a man-made lake which is essentially a cement pit with enormous pipes protruding from it and another has its tee next to, what appears to be, an industrial furnace. While decently maintained the course just seems kind of lame. There's a driving range there where you can hit balls into the side of a sloping astro-turf covered hill. Some of the mats you hit off of are worn completely out and some aren't even level. You can, however, get lessons from the course pro Jim Wysocki. Known as "The Sock" there's a brochure advertising golf lessons with his picture and the accompanying tag line, "You know you need it." Yeah, I thought it was sleazy too. I can't help but imagine him behind some middle aged housewife helping her with her backswing and using some sweet ass line like, "You know why they call me 'The Sock?'" "Uh, because you stuff your shorts with a tube sock?" Long pause followed by a defeated, "Yes." Smooooth. Anyway, I probably won't be playing here much after my last experience. Dead people ruin EVERYTHING. It's too bad because this used to be a fun little nine holes. That being said I may still occasionally pop in because golf, like huffing paint, has become somewhat of a sad addiction. Sometimes "you know you need it." read more

No more course, only a driving range now which is fine by me because I'm new to golf and I need all the practice I can get. Which is why I frequent this place. If I need a course there always sharp park in Pacifica. This place has all you can ask for. Plenty of parking, plenty of stalls (I prefer the open stall without the roof) and never busy, but not exactly deserted either. Only downsides and hence the 3 stars is: -the ball dispensing machine only accept cash. (One time I forgot to bring cash and I had to go to Walgreens to do a cash back as my bank wasn't near the area and I didn't want to pay ridiculous atm fees) -roads leading up to the driving range can use a new layer of asphalt. ****A slice of heaven in a field of Cemeteries*** Colma has very few reasons to go here. 1. Target Greatland 2. Visiting dead relatives 3. Lucky Chances Casino 4. And now Cypress Golf Course Based on the reviews, this is not the prettiest course around. That is for sure. The view however is terrific. You have great view of the San Francisco Peninsula. This was first time on an actual course and while I can say it is intimidating the first time, it was most fun I have had on a THURSDAY in a long long time. My buddy and I rented a golf cart, in which we did speeds in excess of 20 mph, which felt like 100. The course itself it pretty small, mostly par 3's and for a new golfer, that was perfect. I can see if I were a professional golfer, this course would not be the most awesome Thursday ever, but for newbies, I would recommend coming here for a first try. read more
