It was a really hard time. I had a couple of other ENTs unsure of the root cause, with imaging showing no issues, etc. Those ENTs mostly pushed for keeping my newly acquired hearing aids and not pursuing surgery to better my hearing on its own. I finally met with an ENT who recommended the right imaging and then referred me to Dr. Kiringoda, whom he highly recommended. When I first went in for a consultation, Dr. Kiringoda and PA Rachel (who is also awesome) spent a lot of time with me. He looked at my new CT with me and explained what his plan would be for surgery, targeting the exact cause of my hearing loss. Additionally, he would explore the middle ear to ensure there were no other issues and be prepared if anything else came up during surgery. He thoroughly explained the procedure and what to expect. Small Note: He spends considerable time with his patients, so appointments sometimes run behind, but it's all good because his expertise is worth the wait! I got surgery done by Dr. Kiringoda in August 2025, where I underwent an Ossiculoplasty, in which he placed a prosthetic due to erosion of the long process of the Incus bone. After my surgery, I experienced minimal pain and no complications. It was clear about a month after that my hearing was improving, my tinnitus was decreasing, and the numb feeling in my ear was mostly gone. By two months or so, my hearing was exceptionally improved. I am so grateful to Dr. Kiringoda and his excellent team both before and during surgery. I felt well cared for and still do, knowing they are in my corner if something else transpires with my ears. I highly recommend Dr. Kiringoda and PA Rachel Brown, and I have told several people who have asked me for a reference for a good ENT.

During my post-op recovery period - I had moments of concern due to some symptoms I was experiencing. He certainly did a great job in removing the thyroid gland with a deep grown tumor without damaging any other tissues. He made sure that everything is on track after surgery by following up regularly for several days after releasing from hospital. He took a good amount of time to answer all my concerns and questions before surgery since it was my first major surgery in a highly sensitive organ which I was nervous about. The scar healed very well over a period of a week and I got back to my normal routine in less than a week.

I have had another procedure done by Dr Lonergan. I started having nosebleeds again, a problem that…read morehad been especially bad when I was a child. Back then, I was told that my blood vessels were too close to the surface. I would usually bleed from the left nostril. So when this problem bothered me again, I told my PCP, who referred me to Dr Lonergan. I told him about what the explanation of my nosebleeds had been when I was a child, asking if there was any truth to it. He said there was! I had a blood vessel that was too close, and Dr Lonergan cauterized it. Since then, I have never had a nosebleed. I also saw Dr Lonergan in September 2024 for a differential diagnosis. Since April 2023, I had been having problems with spells of vertigo lasting for hours, occurring out of the blue, and keeping me in bed, but nobody knew exactly why. My PCP and an urgent care doctor suggested that my blood pressure was dropping too low, and I started measuring it, but I did not find a correlation between these episodes and blood pressure. In fact, I could have an episode at 110/70 and then feel fine at 90/60. Finally, during an urgent visit, a primary care physician referred me to Dr Lonergan to rule out inner ear (balance) issues. Dr Lonergan examined me, found nothing wrong with my inner ear, and gave me a handout called "Vestibular Migraine." The handout described some of my symptoms very well and even mentioned that children who are car-sick often go on to develop migraines. indeed, I was this kind of kiddo, and even now, as an adult, I get car-sick when I am a passenger on narrow, meandering roads in the hills. So basically, in addition to my regular classic migraine with a headache that started when I was 3, I now have a second type of migraine called vestibular or vertiginous, and the neurologist to whom Dr. Lonergan referred me confirmed the diagnosis. But it was Dr. Lonergan who first suspected the true cause of my problem 17 months after it began, and before seeing Dr. Lonergan, I had seen many doctors who could not figure it out.
