I have been going here for over a year and out of all the nail places I have been to since moving back to NY this one is by far the best. Kathy and Richard are the best. Kathy is amazing with designs and with nails in general. I bought a house about 30 mins away recently and still continue to make the drive to go here. The salon is beautiful and clean. This was my first time going to Richard's and I chose there because of the positive reviews. I would not go back and would not recommend anyone go there. I made an appointment and was told they were 20 minutes behind as soon as I walked in. Richard was stressed out because they were so "busy".. When I was finally up Richard was very rushed, answering phones, getting gift certificates, complaining about incoming calls and ppl coming for gift certificates and giving his two cents on Trump politics all while in the process of rushing my manicure and doing an inferior job. The soaking bowl didn't look sanitary or like it been properly cleaned and there were used bowls all around the salon. My nails are jagged and not properly filed, Richard did not ask what shape I wanted and turned my oval shape into square, the gel is on my cuticle and not over the front edge of the nail. I give it less than a week before it peels. I also wasn't asked to remove rings or my watch before he put lotion on my hands -with no warm cloth- and got a 10 second hand massage. I cringed as I reluctantly left a tip because I felt obligated to as Richard was closely watching me sign my receipt. Definitely not the best experience and with so many options I won't be going back :( read more

We called to get an appointment. Came in at 5:30. For 2 pedicures. We waited for 20 minutes before we went back to soak. Then we waited and waited. 6:15 a worker came over and started my daughter's toes. So she was going to do both at the same time. Either way one of us would be waiting for the other. Didn't realize they only have 2.5 stars. Put my boots on. And waiting for my daughter. NEVER COMING BACK.Also work ablock away. Might put a sign up near register telling this story. My friend and I went there to have pedis done. Two complaints. One: the owner actually yelled at his employees. This did not make the experience very spa like or restful. Second: the girl that did my nails left a huge gap between my cuticles and the nail polish. It was so large that it looked like the nail polish had grown out! I've had a full set, a couple of fill-ins, and pedicure all done at Richard's Nail Studio. I appreciate how after just the second visit, they seem to be familiar with me as soon as I walk in the door and call me by name. There are a few nail salons in my area, and I've been to most of them. One of the things that drew me to this place was the sign out front. They had a whiteboard at the door that suggested dropping your wife off for "day care" while you go fishing. I realize some feminists may be upset by this notion, but it made me laugh. It showed me that while they may be Vietnamese, they understand American sarcasm. I lived in Asia for five years. Trust me, most of the locals with which I interacted did NOT get me. Most of the time my jokes were met with blank stares. When you find someone from the Asian community who understands your humor, you stick with it. These folks are my tribe. The first time I had my nails done, Richard explained to me that they were moving into the space next door, but they are temporarily situated in the space previously occupied by another nail salon. As far as I know, construction hasn't yet begun (permits and all that), but what he described to me sounds like a great place and I'm really excited about seeing it come to fruition. The summary: The salon is clean. The staff is welcoming. They have comfortable seating. It feels modern as soon as you walk in the door. They have an ATM inside. They do take debit/credit cards over a certain amount, but if you need cash, that may be important to you. And ladies?? They understand sarcasm!!! read more

I have seen customers make unreasonable demands. The staff will refuse to do things that will damage your nails even if other salons have done it. I am a regular customer who has been going there for years and will never go anywhere else. Very professional. Those who have posted negative reviews I doubt spoke to Richard directly about their concerns. Will never come here again. The minute I walked in I felt like I was inconveniencing them. The nail tech, Amelia, barely said five words to me and rush through the manicure and it shows. Cuticles look awful, nail polish on the skin, and I will be surprised if the gel doesn't start peeling in a day or two. I get gel manicures often and my normal place was booked, I knkw what a gel manicure is supposed to look like. They also charge a $5.00 fee to use your debit card on a $35 transaction. So now I have to try and fix this mess myself before the hlliday. read more

If I can give this establishment less stars I would! The owners are not professional. Richard barks orders at staff in front of customers. Cathy is miserable and needs to find a different profession. I loved this place and really started to go regularly to do something nice for myself with a gel mani every couple of weeks. My gel mani started to come off two days after I got it, they fixed it when I went in but then half of it feel off after a week and a half. I went in yesterday to get a new gel mani soon after opening, when I was asked when I had it done and said it was in the 2 week 'guaranteed' window I was immediately turned away. I was told they 'had an appointment and everyone else was on vacation'. There was no in the salon at 10:47 so even if there was an 11am appointment, I feel as if this still could have been done and that I was turned away because they know they would not have gotten commission. Now my nails are totally ruined and I was very committed to becoming a regular and am now so off-put by the poor customer service and lack of follow-through on the promise. read more

I recently went to Richard nail salon for a pedicure. I was clear i didn't need my ingrowns messed with as my toes are very proned to ingrowns and infection... did they listen no.... I'm not sure what the employee did to my toenails ( maybe use Instruments that weren't disinfected ) but she caused me to have an extreme infection that has caused me so much pain. I had to go urgent care and a podiatrist. I can't walk, Stand up or even eat with the antibiotics I'm on. My feet are in extreme pain with puss coming out. I am horrified with my experience especially after paying 50 dollars, which now is going to have to turn into surgery and may loose all my toes nails thank god I get to keep my feet. This is my favorite place to get my nails done. I LOVE this salon. I went last week and they did a beautiful job. Richard removed my gel nail polish that another salon messed up and explained the process for removal. He also cleaned up my nails and applied fresh color. My mom and I have also been here for pedicures and I loved that they accommodated us AND talked to both of us. I've never felt more comfortable at a salon. Wanted to like it as the salon looks very nice but it was the worst manicure I have ever gotten. During the pedicure, the tech was very pushy, asking me if the experience was great multiple times throughout the service. The "massage" given is not an actual massage. During my manicure, the tech made my thumb bleed and kept applying the blue liquid directly to make it stop, which is unsanitary. On the thumb that was cut, the polish is bumpy all over. On every nail, the nail polish was not applied to the full nail so you can see bare nails on the sides. Extremely disappointed especially given the cost. It's so bad that I'll have to go somewhere else for a polish change. read more

Made an appointment, which honestly wasted my time as I waited 30 minutes to get seated for a pedicure. I went in for a gel pedicure and dip nails. 4 HOURS !!!!! No sorry no nothing. they just expected me to wait. Richard was very unprofessional and was answering phone calls while half paying attention to my nails. they were some of the most expensive nails I've ever gotten done. spent $150 after tip for everything and a week later my nails are in so much pain and 4 have fallen off. Went for a gel pedicure here and ended up with a Staph infection. The girl cut my cuticle in multiple places and in one area it was so bad that it wouldn't stop bleeding. She put the green liquid on it to stop to bleeding, but that just made it burn. As the pain continued and the infection spread and turned into a Staph infection I contacted the owners who refused to issue me a refund...unbelievable!! Go anywhere else BUT here!!! read more

Stay away. I called for pricing , the girl who answered said $15 for a color change so went in and they were rude from beginning to end ! No social skills at all. I was prepared to pay $15 and then she told me it was $20. When I explained I called earlier and they told me $15 she said , "show me!" I showed her on my iPhone in my call List when I called. They cut my nail's every time I go there. My fingers leave swollen and bleeding and my nails fall off within days. I don't feel comfortable there. A lot of yelling and whenever I get my eyebrows waxed they would leave wax on them and then they breakout in painful pimples and I get burned by the hot wax and it's extremely painful. They waxed almost half my eyebrow off and it looked horrible and they were wayyyyy to thin. read more

Honestly I went to get my nails done and it was a huge ordeal for Richard. He got mad when I explained what I WANTED....he was very rude & was extremely insensitive when I explained I had a death in my family and I why I couldn't make it yo my apt. When it came to what I wanted with my nails he tried to convince me that the lifted under nail shouldn't be cut down, when in fact they are shaved down to prevent infections between fills. I know how nails are supposed to be since I've been getting them done since I've been what a teenager. The nails break.... they chip.... they cut you when they do your nails...they don't do fills properly and they don't care the only people who are nice there are Kathy... Kyra and Tori. He gave me bad vibes energy wise..... I should have listened to my instincts. Go there at your own risk. For the price you pay its not a pretty end result. Tori did my nails and i'm very unhappy. they lifted the day i got them. one has a crack down the middle and one has a crack on the side. they are bumpy and the paint job was just horrible. the nails are uneven and you can tell no effort was put into them. richard does an amazing job. but sadly i don't recommend tori. overall very very disappointed. read more

I want to start that I really used to like coming here. They do nail art and it's very clean and peaceful. BUT I went in for a pedicure, I chose the "deluxe spa" $45 dollars because it came with an extra treatment that involved a massage. The woman doing my feet , although nice, made several comments I was uncomfortable with. She kept telling me that my feet had so many callous on them. I get it , but it is my first pedicure since winter and I am ALWAYS on my feet. She kept commenting over and over and over to the point I was squirming in my seat that I had nice feet I just had to get a pedicure more often, see how much callous came off?? I went to the nail salon the first time. The staff was very nice but the product didn't last. Within one day the nail dip polish was coming off. Went back and had it fixed, the next day another. Tried a pedicure with gel polish and within one day the nail polish lifted right off my toe. Went back to get it fixed. 2 days later nails looked awful had to go to another salon and have them re-do my nails with no issues. read more

This salon rates a 10+. The facility is spotless, always has fresh flowers and an overflowing candy display. Kathy is the technician I use as I like art work on my nails. She is beyond fantastic. Bring her a picture and she can copy it! Today she did a fall design of her own creation and I love it. Richard is so much fun. He seems to know you from the first time you walk into his salon. Very accommodating when I have been a walk in. Great conversationalist and doesn't try to pressure you into buying services you really don't need. I think they have over 700!!! different polishes so there is something for everyone. This is the 3rd salon I have been to and will never go anywhere else again!! I decided to go here after rave reviews. The salon itself is beautiful and nicely decorated. I loved the retro look. I had an appointment and still waited 20 minutes. I chose to have a classic pedi with gel. $50. The pedicure was okay, nothing to write home about. It seemed like the tech was rushing because it was only her and one other tech working. I then decided to get a manicure, looking forward to the hand massage. I don't get color on my nails, so she did a basic manicure, but still charged the full amount and all she did was clean up my nails. No massage, no nothing. It took her 10 minutes.
