After more than 15 years with another company I had to get another oil company. I talked to Richard and decided to try his company and I am so glad I did. On Dec 30th I called at 7 am and had a delivery before 8 am. Today I called a bit before noon and oil was delivered within an hour. 2 different drivers both very nice. So often people only write about the bad things; well please read this as it could have been a bad review and the story even starts out a little on the bad side; however Richard himself quickly made sure that I was a satisfied customer by the time I was done talking with him. I can honestly say, I certainly am and will continue to use Richard's for all my oil needs!! I've used Richard's Oil for 10 plus years. I called the day after Christmas to order heating oil and they showed up that day. I had a debit card on file with them and told them that I needed to change the card number as I knew after the holiday I wasn't going to have funds in the account. The woman on the phone said they would remove the old number and replace it. Well as luck would have it, the debit card got charged and I was assessed a 30 dollar overdraft fee. At first I was like Grrrr....but also know that mistakes happen and figured I would just stop in their office while I was in town. I've got to say as soon as I walked into the office I knew how it could have happened. The phones were ringing off the hook. The place was extremely busy to say the least, I'm sure due to this cold snap we are having. I spoke to the two ladies in the office and they found the error and then Richard came out of his office and without question handed me the 30 dollars. I was hoping just to split the fee I had been charged, but Richard insisted. He shook my hand, handed me a very nice calendar, wished me a happy new year and was off to the phones again working to ensure all of his customers are well taken care of. Oh yeah, I shouldn't forget the driver who delivered the oil. Luckily I have the week off, so I went out to say hi and was a nice guy and was happy to chat and have a few laughs even given the long days and super cold temperatures that he has had to work in. I have worked with Richard's oil for the past 4 years. I have been very happy with their service. Friendly and professional. I am expecting to convert to propane heating within the year. I was dismayed to see so many negative reviews for residential propane distributors in RI. I have gotten oil from Richards many times in the past. The latest was last month. Today i called for pricing on oil, i was told they'd match a lower price if found elsewhere. I called another company, found a lower price, then called Richards and told them. They didnt want to match the price i had found because of where i live, west greenwich. They have been to my house many times in the past and will no longer. They have lost a customer for sure. They did not honor their word of match pricing. Picking and choosing certain customers for match pricing is not ok by any means. Luckily i called Natick oil and saved 31 cents a gallon!! read more

HORRIBLE!!! Had them do a yearly check & change filter right before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Service tech removed nozzle & proceeded to take outside to clean & DRIPPED OIL ONTO MY HARDWOOD FLOOR. The OIL SMELL was terrible. After returning home from work, I called them to inform them. The tech came back & applied powder to the areas. That didn't work after approxiamtely 10 days of reapplying it on my own. Another tech came to my home who waxed the floor/stairs. OK things happen and could not spell oil any longer. Had them deliver oil on Dec 23, 2016. Well the oil tank was filled and leaked all over the basement area where the tank is located. I immediately called them and they did arrive. They also called their insurance company who arrived and I was informed Richards wasn't a current policy holder. You don't know who your insurance company is???? Was told the tank was "overfilled" and let go. Charged me $450.00 for 3 hrs labor to place vacuum on tank so it could be drained....REALLY 3 HRS!!! Don't need to go further with this review, I think your smart enough to figure it out. BTW: I was told by DEM that the oil tank is the responsibility of the company doing the yearly cleaning to check it. Also my home insurance doesn't cover any of this. Total out of pocket cost for this messy cleanup approximately $4500.00. OUCH!!! What does the insurance company cover...nothing. I guess that's why they are so filthy rich. Time to find another insurance company after 30+ years. read more
