Reasonable estimate, and they asked if they could come earlier than scheduled when four days of Sun was forecast. We agreed, and they arrived with a huge team at 630am. We had a crumbling concrete driveway, 8 inches thick. They tore that up, hauled away the rubble, smoothed the dirt, laid the asphalt and were gone by 130pm. They stopped and checked with us a couple of times to check on the asphalt placement. They had heavy equipment parked up and down the street awaiting the next phase. They directed traffic when necessary. No downtime. They joked loudly and the language was salty, but they seemed to work well as a team, and they treated us respectfully. I had my driveway done in 2022. These crack heads f'ed up the end towards the road. Michael, who comes out to look at it says that it's because they can't use the paver at that end part and the guys have to hand shovel out the last part. Ok, well it is not smooth like the rest. little pebbles (asphalt mix) is loose and it looks like i have a repair coming my way very soon. Im fuckin pissed and if i see one of them i will say something. The will not fix this. If anyone is suing. We should all sue together and shut him down. read more

I requested a quote May 2025 for my single driveway removal and replacement. Micke? came on 5/13/25. explained everything and offered me a quote $4200.00 I had done my research on pricing and my neighbor had his done by Richards and a year later is still pleased with his driveway. I gave a $500.00 check deposit. spoke to stacy about scheduling over next 2 weeks. called 5/30 and advised next few days. Recalled 6/2 to discuss date and no answer to phone, tried mult times. Called 6/4 by tempe? to schedule. I advised her I was aware from neighbor , business is no longer in service. The phone number is still not in service, but Tempes phone goes to anoter paving business in cohoes. Filed complaint with Waterford PD . read more

Negative experience. A friend had Richards Paving do their driveway in early 2024. Beautiful and meticulous work. As such I went to them for my needs. I was quoted for old asphalt surface removal, 4-6 inches stone base and 3-6 inches of type 6 compacted asphalt. The crew that came to do the work appeared to be sub contractors. Their vehicles were identified as 'Kickin Asphalt' and 'Aaron's Paving'. They removed the existing asphalt but did not lay any base stone. They rolled the sand and limited stone base that existed, which was not a substantial base or what was quoted to be provided. They only laid about 1 inch of new asphalt in most areas. Rolled surfaces were left very uneven, including a 1/4 inch ridge down the center of the driveway and several areas of high and low spots. The driveway edges were left crooked and un-tamped. The driveway apron was not cleanly cut in to meet the street. Rather rolled over the streets paving, leaving an unclean apron line that will crumble. Very poor quality work here. When attempting to contact the owner (Richard), I received only voicemail. After leaving several voicemails, I was only to be contacted by the individuals who did the work. Not Richard or anyone in an owner capacity. In trying to rectify the situation they informed me that uneven surfaces are expected and nothing they could do. They refused to address the issue of not providing the stone base as quoted Richards Paving seems to have changed since 2024. Certainly not a positive experience here and very poor quality work. I would not recommend. **Update - 7/25/25. I learned that Richard has been convicted of fraud and confirmed from a source who had worked for him that he dissolved or walked away from his business. Confirmed new individuals are operating under the Richards Paving company name. read more

Richards paving melted my gate post when they paved my driveway in August 2023. To have it repaired it cost me $725. He offered to pay half, but I didn't feel that was acceptable. After giving him several months to reimburse me without success, I filed a claim in small claims court. I won the judgment on January 31. I have not yet been reimbursed. I filed a judgment against his business on April 15. read more

When they first installed the driveway, rainwater was coming into the garage. They came later and redid the job, but now left huge puddles at the front of the driveway. Came again at a later time and removed about an inch of blacktop in one place to try to ix the problem, but the issue still remains. When called on it he said that there's no warranty against puddles. In the winter the puddles make for a dangerous icy surface. Avoid Richards. read more
