For our first order, we chose two kits; Margherita, the tomato sauced, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil classic, and Green Goddess, a seasonal offering that included roasted asparagus as topping on a lemon-ricotta base and Green Goddess sauce to drizzle on after baking. Both were perfetto! CONTEXT FOR THE PRAISE: My husband and I are pizza fiends who have, for example, waited an hour for a table at Pizzeria Bianca and Ken's Artisan Pizza. He is Italian (on both sides) and grew up in a Brooklyn neighborhood where good pizza was part of the culture. Plus we are old...umm...well seasoned hands at making pizza, including dough, from scratch in our home kitchens across several decades. We know good pizza and Wild Rise kits help you create great pizza at home. THE BACKSTORY: Natalie Perry is a local food blogger with a passion for introducing people to good food. She created Wild Rise Pizza to offer sourdough pizza kits to provide people with the convenience of making great pizza from quality ingredients at home. The outstanding dough starts with her seven-year-old starter that she has named Matilda, after a character in a children's book. This is a one woman and two teen daughters operation so truly local. ORDERING & FULFILLMENT: DRILL: The ordering and fulfillment process is easy and ran like clockwork at each step. ORDERING: Sign up at the Wild Rise site and order on Saturday mornings (you'll get a message when the ordering window is open) to choose from a couple of kits of seasonal varieties and a Margherita or you can choose the ingredients yourself for a customized kit. She uses an interface that was new to me, hotplate, and it was easy to navigate. You'll receive an email and text to confirm your order and with info on how to contact her if you have questions. FULFILLMENT - Pickup: Kit pick ups are offered during certain hours on Thursday or Friday (check details at her site) from the Meridian strip mall located (on Fairview near the Tango's there) commercial kitchen where they are created. The good news about this location is the parking lot is ample. FULLMENT - Home Delivery: On one or the other of those days each week she offers delivery for a limited number of kits for a small fee (it was $8 to our home) in a limited area. The day before delivery a message is sent with a 30 minute window ETA. Then another message is sent when your order is on your porch. THE KITS & "HOW TO": The kits container a leak proof paper box with all ingredients, each one labeled, and a BPA free plastic quart sized container with the dough, plus instructions and with QR code links if you need to see a video. So even if you are new to putting together a pizza, "be not afraid", it is made easy for you to do. (Since the plastic quart sized containers that the dough comes in are BPA free and dishwasher safe, Natalie offers a 50 cent credit for each one if you turn them in later.) We didn't do our Sunday ritual today and go to Moon's downtown. My husband and I were out running…read moreerrands in Meridian so we decided to keep breakfast easy this morning and head to Sarah's bagel shop. I have been to the downtown location and had such a good experience there. The staff there was so friendly! Unfortunately, today's visit at it's sister location was not the same. Walking in, the joint is really bright and clean. I appreciate the huge menu boards of all their items. Everything looked so good at first glance in the display case. We hung out for a second going over everything when the employees started coming out. We weren't really greeted. No one really said hi. Finally a gentleman stood there to take our order. I got my husband's order taken care of. I still needed a minute and finally decided on my sandwich. And this is when things really started to go down hill. We stood at the counter waiting to pay. Waiting, waiting, standing there like a couple idiots. The young gal behind the counter let some other customer cut us off and pay for some random drinks. And then we just stood there. I asked the gal if she was going to ring us up and she said no. "Go sit down and you pay when you get your food". Well, that would have been nice to know if someone would have told us that in the first place. We finally paid for our order, got our food and a table. For brunch I grabbed a tasty turkey sammy on a croissant. My husband got a egg, ham and cheese on a croissant. We also snagged a couple smoothies. We got lemon mango and peach. Our sandwiches were nicely made. My sandwich had fresh veggies in it, a good amount of turkey and the herb cream cheese was savory. My husband devoured his breakfast sammy. The croissant was buttery and soft. It honestly was a great sandwich. If you're planning on selling boba in your teas, coffees and smoothies, please make sure the boba pearls are edible. It was amazing how many uncooked boba pearls were on the bottom of my smoothie. Hard, inedible pearls. How embarrassing. I didn't even order them in my smoothie but I got them. I paid for inedible boba pearls so make sure you specify if you want them or not. As gross as they were, I would recommend a hard no on the boba pearls. The smoothies itself were good. The lemon mango was refreshing even though it was thick and hearty. The peach smoothie was really tasty as well. They are gracious with their sizes. I got medium and barely drank half. I will say their smoothies are pretty legit. As good as the sammys were, I just can't get over the rude staff and my hard boba pearls. For me, I rate on the whole experience and I just can't go higher than a 2. Communication with your customers is so important and clearly this joint lacks it. So basic but not given here. I'll stick to the downtown location for my future Sarah's bagel visits from now on. I want to enjoy my food that's prepared by a nice staff.
