I cannot say enough about the quality and passion of The Cheesesteak Guy and his phenomenal heros, truly bringing an authentic taste of the East Coast to the Treasure Valley. This was the one thing missing from Boise, a bona fide "wiz wit" and he has absolutely nailed it. I am an avid food reviewer and cheesesteak enthusiast. This is hands down the best in Idaho and maybe the whole PNW. His chimichangas made with his own homemade dough are also a cut above with a great crisp but a flaky, doughy texture. Not only is his wiz blend, house made sauces and every menu item on point, but from a value perspective, this just might be the finest deal in town. These sandwiches are absolutely stacked to the nines. A must try, I guarantee you will be hooked!

    Best Cheesesteak EVER!!

I've been ordering from The Cheesesteak Guy since 2018. He isn't capable of making a lousy cheesesteak. The most tender ribeye loaded into a delicious Amoroso roll swimming around in the deepest sea of gooey cheese is what you will find each and every time you order. The price is very reasonable. The amazing flavor of this two meal cheesesteak will have you dreaming of your next order. And for the Keto Kult...yeah, he has you covered! So do yourself a favor and place your order soon! You won't find a better cheesesteak!

We particularly appreciate that Gina uses many of the same sources my husband and I, both old...um...well seasoned home cooks who support local sources and have for decades been focused on healthy eating, choose to buy when cooking ourselves. And I appreciate that when I need a break from cooking, which I love to do and it keeps me sane, I can get delicious and good for us meals delivered right to our front door in glass containers in an insulated cooler bag. We tried a couple of other local food delivery services that didn't do as they promised in food quality or process. Clean Cuisine by Gina gets it right every time. THE OPTIONS: When you order you choose from a set menu that is either omnivore or vegetarian, both menus change weekly, or "build your own bag" which is what we choose to do making selections from both menus. Many, maybe even most, of the options are also gluten free. My husband and I lean vegetarian about 85% of the time and when we do use animal proteins we are so choosy about sourcing that we particularly appreciate Gina specifies her source for them and they are ones we also use. (You know those people from that Portlandia Colin the Chicken restaurant comedy bit, "Is your chicken local"? That's us. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErRHJlE4PGI ) THE PROCESS: Order by noon on Sunday and Tuesday deliveries are sometime between 3p and 7p, depending on your location. The food is delivered cold, with ice packs, in glass containers in an insulated cooler bag. On either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning you'll receive in your inbox a link to a fun video of Gina describing the week's options. ( Like this one as example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRhWcoIK5Pw ) When you're finished with the good eats, wash out the glass containers and put them along with the ice packs back in the insulated bag and schedule pick up for an ensuing Tuesday. Simple. MAGIC WAND SUGGESTIONS: If I could wave a magic wand, I'd have them list the ingredients in the dish in the description on the order site. One can email to get it in advance and ingredients are listed on card inserted with order at delivery, but for purposes of allergy and preference both considered ahead of order, it would be helpful to know on the site. Also, an observation is there are times when the image on the order site does not match the item delivered. For grounding example, the braised short ribs shown on site perched on a mound of mashed potatoes all in a pool of lovely gravy in reality came on top of mashed potatoes with gravy spooned over all. It was a delicious dish, and a treat for us as I seldom choose to cook beef at home, but it didn't plate up anywhere near the photo since gravy was minimal and not separate for serving. TIP: The glass containers for the entrees intended to be served hot are oven safe but they are so well packed, as in full, that the heating times on the insert cards are substantially understated if you choose to use the container in the oven. We've found it it works best to remove the contents to heat in a larger dish. DELIVERY FEE: $15 but is waived with minimum order of $75. Pick up is included in price.

Dazed am I, in the way of being impressed, by the multitude of things classically trained chef and…read morededicated farmer Christian Phernetton accomplishes. I am also confused on how to keep track of it all to purchase what my hubby and I need. For those who figure it out there are rewards in the way of accessing via The Chef's Farm wonderful local produce grown with sustainable and organic farming practices as well as, in 2020 at least, completed meals and finished food products that could be delivered to your door. PRODUCE FOR DAYS: This is the farmer Christian making it happen via his farm in Dry Creek Valley. As in the outstanding lettuces, really at the top of the list for best of our 40 years of cooking together at home, that we bought from The Chef's Farm for a couple of weeks via the Saturday morning Boise Farmers Market in Summer 2020 until Christian stopped selling via that market. But I think The Chef's Farm is set up to sell at a sometimes pop up Farmers Market in the Hyde Park neighborhood on Saturdays if one can find that outlet for this excellent produce of all kinds. For a while earlier on The Chef's Farm did a sort of CSA box too and may be doing it again (?). And in 2021 there is a subscription service for fresh microgreens for which the only downside may be they are packaged in greater quantity than can be consumed even by two devoted daily greens eaters. Still, a very good thing. Check the website to see what the plans might be for 2021 for any or all of these services. And as produce - farm aside, not only does Christian grow some of the most remarkably delicious carrots we have eaten, he creates some of the most incredibly delicious dishes with carrots as focal point...and we say this as people for whom carrots have never been a "thing" until Christian's dishes provided revelation. Which leads to the next point. MMMM...ARVELOUS FINISHED FOOD DISHES: At times it is chef Christian Phernetton at work via The Chef's Farm to create finished food dishes including complete meals ready to heat and plate and eat which we were able to order and savor in the last half of 2020. After the 2020 holiday season this service paused. If started again we will use it again as provided remarkable meals from this "Chef with Chops". Keep in mind Christian has impressive background as a chef in the DC and Bay Areas at fine restaurants in those locales and was the inaugural chef at Boise's acclaimed Camel's Crossing...where his Carrot Steak was a diner favorite and as aside I'll say his lamb cassoulet was the best dish even to now that I have been served in any Boise eatery. ( Camel's Crossing closed early in pandemic months.) You'll see my photos on this page for the great way in which The Chef's Farmmeals were delivered to homes on Fridays and Saturdays. (In Eagle where I live for a mere $7). My husband and I also appreciated that the weekly menus included options for omnivores and vegetarians alike. Also that in this service Christian remained true to the sustainability practices he embraces (we do too) and delivered the meals in reusable glass vessels which he also picked up as part of that minimal charge for delivery. It wasn't only our bodies that felt well fed by Christian's work but our consciences too. Every purchase we make reflects our values. GIFTS NO LESS: During the holiday season - and maybe at other times - The Chef's Farm website listed things like condiments and holiday boxes that one could order to give to friends and neighbors. It was a great way to delight food centric people and people who support small local food producers. We purchased these too in 2020. FIGURING IT OUT IN 2021: As we determine what is being sold by The Chef's Farm in 2021 that is in a venue and format that we can use for our home kitchen we will happily remain customers. This is an example of a business growing and creating unique and delicious things.

The meal was delicious, and the prep for me was minimal. They deliver but I chose to pick up at their pop-up tent in Hyde Park neighborhood. Chef Bruce has been a dream so far, I am happy to say. We're still getting our feet under us, in terms of what we really like and need, but that'll come along, I have no doubt. He made lovely dishes for us, talked with me about what we really like, as well as what we avoid (dairy, seafood, some other things we just don't like or prefer not to have in our food). We're setting up our second menu today. Chef Bruce came on time, was in touch about ingredients - he prefers to shop for himself, which makes sense to me, and it's worth the delivery cost to me to have him feel good about what he's cooking. This first time around, things were not as strongly seasoned as I hope the will be in the future, but I'm sure that will come. I'll post another review once we are in the groove. So affordable -- who knew a personal chef would be within reach? If you've ever said, If I hit the jackpot, I'd get a personal chef, check them out. The culinary jackpot may be waiting for you!

See my photos that I detailed with captions. As example, key ingredients as described in the order photo and write up were missing with no substitution. I appreciate what this young woman, cook and health advocate is trying to accomplish in healthy meals, home delivered, with option of ad-hoc or subscription ordering. But it fell enough short for our one try that we didn't order again. Also, I'll note that she calls herself "chef" but has no formal training. But she came to be passionate about the role of good food in health due to a personal health crisis and it is a good thing to want to carry forward the learning she had to help others. Last, I think she has recently taken over a once failing restaurant space in the North End of Boise and renamed and recrafted it into a restaurant of her own. It carries a different name than Haute Foods.

I choose the chef's choice option and for almost everything, flavors were great. One of the meats was over salted but not inedible. The sauces were all very delicious. The cons: only received 13/15 meals ordered. Since each meal is upwards of $15, this was a significant shortage. Three of the meals had undercooked beef (not rare steak, but tough bulgogi cuts), so that was only 10 out of 15 edible meals delivered. The turmeric cauliflower had a sandy texture I couldn't stomach. I was told by the team that I should have reheated it for 20 minutes in a cast iron skillet, rather than microwave. The meals were not labeled and there were no instructions on reheating, so that was just confusing all around. If you order the chefs choice, you have to request your itemized receipt to see the macros and the macros for the protein will be missing, so you'll just be on your own in terms of calculating macros and calories for your meal. Fine, but not the product they're selling. The team has been somewhat responsive as I've brought these issues up, but I'm still waiting to hear if/how I will be compensated for the 5 missing/undercooked meals. And it doesn't help the issue that now I have to go to the grocery store, cook, etc when I had thought I had that all taken care of for me by paying a premium to Haute. I asked for a credit for the following week as the food was decent and the service (if it actually is executed as billed) is a great, convenient concept. UPDATE: the team offered additional meals to compensate for the missing/undercooked food. I was fine with it as I really wanted to continue the service, but a credit would have been a much better solution.

After eating here, we should have came here instead of having the pizza. It was later in the afternoon when we came in so it was pretty chill. I I did creep out the menu online so I had a general idea of what I wanted. My husband is pretty predictable so he automatically knew what he wanted. So for lunch I got the 7" pepper steak and my husband got the 7" steak classic with no onions. We both got extra meat instead on getting a bigger sandwich. Yo, this sandwich was so good! My meat was cooked perfectly and not dry! It had a ton of jalapenos and banana peppers. It was cheesy and savory. The bread was soft and not dense. Every bite of it was so good! Not gonna lie, the jalapenos were creeping up on me towards the end. They were getting spicy! I might do half the jalapenos next time. The banana peppers added a nice acid to the sandwich. I polished that baby off and was so full! Well, as full as I was, this joint does offer ice cream. Of course we had to grab some! So, my husband and I grabbed a single scoop of cookies and cream on a sugar cone. It was a decent sized scoop. The gal that scooped it did have a hard time scooping it, it was kinda hollow in the middle. But, it was honestly enough ice cream without officially putting me into food coma. The gals that helped up were really nice! The Phillies here are killer good! The venue is open and spacious. Huge tvs on the wall would make this joint fun during football season! My husband and I enjoyed our sandwiches and look forward to coming back for more!
