I was in need of an item, which I subsequently found out is called a 'finial'. The original one for a ceiling light cover in my home was inadvertently loss. I visited a few of my regular 'go-to' shops that I stop into when I need household items. Of the three I stopped into, not one was able to provide me with the finial that I needed for my light fixture. During my hunt for this item, I was referred to Richmond Chandelier by one of the vendors I had earlier approached. So, I did just that---I went to Richmond Chandelier on Port Richmond Avenue in Staten Island, NY. There I met Eric and Alona. Both greeted me warmly and listen intently to my tale of woo about trying to track down an appropriate finial for my light fixture. Eric jumped into action and pulled out two boxes of finials for me to select from. He took time to explain to me exactly how it should be installed, both to insure safety and to enhance aesthetics. Eric provided absolutely wonderful customer service, so much so that when I arrived home---first, I installed the finial---it looks great, and then I called my son who just happened to be looking for lighting fixtures because he is in the middle of a huge renovation of his newly purchased home. Went to Richmond chandelier for a 3 way ceiling fan switch. There was a sales man and young woman behind the counter.Well i purchased the switch only to get home and upon further examination of the switch,realize the switch looked damaged.One of the ports or holes where you insert the wires was damaged and there was a small hair line crack. This was very hard to notice when i made the purchase.I returned to the store with the receipt the next day.The same sales guy who sold me the switch was at the counter. i give the guy the switch with the receipt and ask for a exchange he looks at the switch and tells me i didnt buy the switch from his store.I could not believe what i was hearing. Mind you he would not even look me in the eyes (no eye contact) because of the gilt.I said i don't want the money back just a different switch, but he refused to give a refund or return.I couldn't believe in this day and age this is how the new generation does business. wow.Well i couldn't wast my time with this guy so i went to Loews and got the switch for half the price.. Richmond Chandelier is the only place you need to go on Staten Island for lighting fixtures in your home. Mike will welcome you when you walk in, take you around his showroom and then sit with you through endless books of products. I especially love the bowl shaped chandelier in my living room that looks like the moon, the hallway chandelier with candle lights and hanging crystals, wrapped in a ball of metal that casts the coolest shadow on the ceiling and walls, and the two sort of industrial looking ceiling fans in the bedroom and TV room. Our taste is all over the place but Mike is amazingly patient and wonderfully guiding along the way, with products to suit all different tastes. Worth the ride, I remodeled my condo and needed a lot of stuff. To be honest I only went to this place to get pricing. I was shocked. I couldn't believe the quality and selection of the products they had in stock. They had brands the big stores don't carry. I needed all new switches and outlets and cover plates they had it all across the street. In the showroom they had the exact lighting fixture for my dining room. The staff was courteous and friendly. I only needed to order one item and that took a week to arrive as it had been back ordered from the manufacture. The funny part was the other store said it was impossible to get. Unlike Home Depot or Lowes you dont have to walk a block through the parking lot and then another block to the aisle you need ,you park right in front walk in. There are sales people to answer questions and make suggestions or you can browse around. We had such a good experience there, they were very helpful. AND they brought my lights to me. We didn't wait on line to check out.and they HELPED me to my car (imagine that). When we got home I had a question. I called and a PERSON picked up and answered my question. Family owned business that makes you feel like family. When I had my home build I bought every indoor and outdoor light fixture there. Service was amazing and the salesman, Mike really helped me through everything. Kind and courteous. Plus their prices were great. I even got all my energy saver bulbs from there too.
