Take a look at the cheese on these nachos. Amazing. A little small but that's ok still very very good. Great atmosphere too!

The place was packed while we were here for their annual Christmas customer appreciation night. This is the second year we have gone. Last year must have been less known as I recall it being less busy and easier to enjoy the festive music and conversion with your table mates. It's was pretty fun though. It was very loud and hard to converse this year. They offered a free beverage and appetizer to all guests plus a round of shots. I don't know of too many establishments that go out of their way to put on an event like this for anyone who comes in. The service was on point and friendly considering how busy it was, I was impressed. Of the few times I've been here I've really only been able to try the beer and a couple appetizers, which for pub food are decent. Today we tried a platter which was filling for our table of 3, considering they also brought as a second platter assortment on the house. It was heavy food though and we ended up ordering a plate of veggies to offset our guilt of all the greasy food we ate. They have all daily specials and happy hour from 3-6pm other than on Wednesdays and Saturdays which happy our runs from 3 until close. From outside it doesn't look like much of a place, but it's modern on the inside.

I really like this bar. It's not pretentious or trying to be something that it's not. It's a bar with drinks and good food. It's big! Lots of tv's for sports, wall of VLT's for those that like to gamble and live music almost every weekend. My husband and I like to come here for a Saturday bevie and a snack. Always have had good service. Their pizza is delish! And they have these house made toquitos...mmmmm! Try them! Booked a table for 20 for my stagette here as well a while back. It's right close to the bowling alley and a Safeway. Good food, good booze, good service = my kinda pub. They recently renovated this place and it looks great!!

If it's summertime, you're in the southwest, and you wanna toss back a few beers on a patio somewhere, than this is one of the bigger somewhere's to do it. That's the upside. The downside, I suppose, is that the patio is located in a strip mall parking lot with a view of Richmond Road and Safeway. Less than ideal. However, if you just keep your eyes on the sky, all is well. And the place is big enough that you're almost always assured of getting a table. Inside the pub they have a couple of pool tables, tons of VLTs, and lots of table and booth seating for people taking advantage of their full service kitchen. On weekends, Richmond's features live local bands, and Saturdays are Ladies Night, with $3 cocktails until 10pm. So, if Richmond's is in your neck of the woods, you could do worse than this place!

This is a pretty good bar for a neighbourhood place. The house band is always good for a laugh.

My running group that I was traveling with brought our party to the Elk & Oarsman for a quick dinner. This place is a lodge-style sports bar that is located in the heart of the Town of Banff. There are TV screens all around that show live sports and a large fireplace. You can see the beautiful mountain scenery from the rooftop patio. It was nice of Elk & Oarsman to accommodate our large party. The service was great here. Elk & Oarsman is a sports bar that serves good food. The menu has a variety of pub fare favorites like bar snacks, sharables, salads, flatbreads, elk dishes and burgers. I was starving and ordered the Buck Hunter because I wanted to try something with elk in it. This elk & bacon burger patty comes loaded with condiments on a brioche bun. I really liked the tasted of the smoked mayo on my burger. I also got a Broccoli Cheddar Soup on the side. Banded Peak Brewing is a popular beer made in Alberta that is named after a mountain in the Canadian Rockies. I grabbed their Amber Lager to pair with my dinner. There is a fun lively atmosphere here at Elk & Oarsman. I was only here for brief time, but enjoyed it. This is a solid place to check out if you like sports and good food.

Admittedly, I'm not much of a drinker but I'll have some once in a while and Bear Street seems to have a pretty good selection. I tried a Vietnamese Coffee Stout which I enjoyed. I'm definitely more of an eater than I am a drinker and the eats at Bear Street Tavern are excellent. My party got 2 pizzas and a salad and we enjoyed it all. To start we got the Tavern Bowl. It's a bunch of different vegetables with a Tahini Miso Dressing and kimchi on top. All the different textures and flavors worked really well together and the salad served as a nice break between bites of pizza. The Wheeler Hut pizza has mushrooms, ricotta, truffle oil, pesto, and mozzarella. If you're a fan of truffle flavor you'll enjoy this pizza. As soon as it was brought out I could already smell the truffle. The Mediterranean has olives, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, red onions, chili flakes, spinach, mozzarella, and balsamic glaze. A little busier than the Wheeler Hut, but it was equally delicious. I'm not sure which pizza I liked more. Both pizzas had a fantastic crust with some char. Substantial enough to stand up to the toppings but still a little doughy for a nice chew. The char gives a nice crunch as well. Service is quick and friendly and the prices are fair, especially in a tourist area. I definitely recommend Bear Street Tavern.

Our group was located in an annex room right of the main entrance and was the perfect size to fit all of us. We had 2 primary servers who did an excellent job of making sure we had full glasses and full plates. We did family-style sharing of some of their starters and main dishes. The Bread and Butter was really delicious and it looks like their butter flavor is on rotation daily. The duck wings had a peach glaze and nuoc cham and cilantro- great combination. The chicken vegetable dumplings had great skin and texture. The peppercorn salad was adorned with pickled cabbage, capers, maple coconut, crunchy chickpeas and more - it was amazing. We also tried the Thai basil risotto and it was good but I'd go with the peppercorn salad over this if you're sticking vegetarian. The final dish was Alberta AAA Beef Brisket accompanied by gochujang mashed potatoes and broccolini. The brisket was incredible and just melted on the tongue. And the beer/spirits here were impressive as well. BLAKE is a must-try destination while in Canmore!
