I brought my car here because of a great reference from my uncle. I was not disappointed, they took care of my car and completed the work earlier than originally estimated. You absolutely could not tell there was any damage to it at all. I was worried that the paint wouldn't match up because I have used so much wax on the rest of the car, but I was wrong, it looks great!! The went the extra mile with the amount of detailing the did on the outside and inside, I swear it looks better than when I drove it of the lot. I may have to wreck it again just to get the interior detailed in the future! Following a car accident claim, I trusted Rich's Auto with body and suspension repairs. After a four-month wait, they returned my vehicle in an unsafe, undriveable condition, endangering my family. Daniel (office supervisor) and Julian (adjuster) were dismissive of my serious concerns. Rich's Auto subcontracted the suspension work to 'Super Shop,' who not only failed to fix the issues but also damaged the lower control arm. I ultimately took the car to Midas, where they immediately identified and repaired the safety issues missed by Rich's. I had to diagnose the body, alignment, and door issues myself, only to have Rich's staff argue with me and act condescendingly regarding their faulty workmanship. Rich's Auto Repair hired Super Shop for accident-related suspension repairs, but they only applied temporary, unsafe patches despite multiple attempts to fix it. After Super Shop repeatedly failed to properly repair the vehicle, I took it to MIDAS, who correctly addressed the issues and fixed the damage caused by Super Shop's negligent work. read more

I had a broken door handle on the (inside) passenger side of my car. Larry came out to look at it and explained that the handle had two parts. The outer cover didn't need replacing, only the plastic base portion that attaches to the inside of the door panel would need to be ordered. Knowing this saved me from otherwise ordering the entire handle from the dealership. Larry took the time to call several dealerships to find the original part that was needed. After doing so, he scheduled an appointment for installing it. Everything went as planned. In no time, I had the handle fixed, and at a price that pleasantly surprised me. As for Larry, as well as the entire office staff, I enjoyed being treated with respect and kindness. My car was hit by drunk driver hit and run took my car to couple places to get estimate for my insurance Pete's auto body was around almost $2000 but they were so backed up so I took it across street to rich autobody shop for same estimate the quoted me almost $5000 dollars but the said it would only take two weeks and they could fit me in fast so I took it in waiting couple weeks called myself I didn't hear from them when I fina got hold of them the told me they hadn't worked on my car still they were waiting on my ins even though my insurance already approved it .Lady was rude in office said that daniell would call me back with the issue she never did than was trying to tell me they were going to total out my car mind you only thing wrong with car was dude mirror broken driver door and rear driver door had couple door dings . I told her there was no way my car should be totaled out so I told them do not do any work on my car I was picking it up they told me I coukd till they heard from insurance mind you I been in contact with my insurance the whole time so I went and picked up my car when I was driving home it was making and driving weird never had problem before I took car it was still drivable rember just had some minor dings and mirror broken I called ryt away when I got home to tell them they said they didn't do anything on car I did some looking into and someone told me yes they did they took it to do an Alignment on my car and of course they charged my insurance plus storage of my car being there when clearly my car was not supposed to be approved by my insurance when clearly it was I had full coverage and they were trying to say that The Damages were more than the car was worth Will never take my car there ever again any of my cars there a rip off rude and full of crap mind you this is all office people. While I was in the office picking up my car I asked the lady Danielle how much it would cost just to fix my side mirror in my door handle that was broken and she quoted me over 1000 almost 300 I believe it was to fix it and I was like oh OK so I left the next day I went across the street to the other autobody shop and after the same thing for the same fixtures for at least the mirror in the door handle that I needed to still drive the vehicle safely and they quoted me literally $267 for the same items and they fixed it that same day within two hours I picked up my car that should show you the amount of money and rip off that Rich's auto body does to people for the same type of items I wish I could put no stars but it won't allow you to put any review without a star read more

I had to wait over a month to get my car in to fix. Then Waited a few extra days to get my car when they said they were gonna call me back to confirm that the car was done. Car was done on a Friday and I didn't get it til Wednesday. And I had to call them. Within that span of time I had a rental and a rock chipped the windshield and had to pay $200 for the windshield. If they would've gave me the car back on time then that would've never happened. Also a couple of my accessories were stolen from my 2022 Toyota RAV4 trd off road model. I'm now missing my cargo cover and privacy curtains for my rear windows. Will update when I find out if they find them or replace them. And they didn't check inside my skid plate for damage or replace it so now dealing with insurance again to see if I can get it replaced. I would give 0 stars but lowest option is 1. I have been taking all trucks here since I was 16. My cars when I became a mom. I have lived out of state, been to other shops forced by my insurance and you can't beat this place trust me. The owner was a great guy, even as a young kid he alway treated me as if my business mattered to him. The staff now still carry the traditions of taking care of their customers. This is a long story but I had to get my voice out so that people don't fall in my experience. I wish I can give them 0 Stars! This place has horrible customer service! 2 years ago my car was in an accident and my Insurance recommended me to take it to Rich's Auto Body. At first, they seem very nice and understanding about your car's situation. However, once they have your vehicle you won't hear back unless you go out of your way to hear updates. The mechanics said it'll take them 2 weeks to repair my car's rear end. 2 weeks pass by and don't hear from them. I called them but they kept bouncing me to different people! I decided to go to the shop to see my car and hear updates. They haven't even started my car! The mechanics giving excuses that the parts haven't arrived. I called my insurance letting them know what's going on. I get a call from Rich's employees saying that it'll take another 2 weeks for my car to be complete. A month later I finally get a call from Rich's saying my vehicle is ready! Two years later my suspension bolt cracks and I almost got into an accident! Call a tow truck and requested to take my car to Campus Automotive. Louie and his team ran an analysis and called me for updates. Louie said the suspension bolt broke in half and is stuck in the suspension. Louie gave me a quote a recommended me to replace the suspension because it may be damaged. Louie was curious and asked if this car has been in a collusion? I confirmed him that this car has been in a collusion. Louie said that must have caused the bolts to crack because where I took it (Rich's Auto Body) didn't repair or replace the bolts of the suspension. Went to Rich's and explained to them what happened and got an expertise advice that my suspension bolts cracked due to not repairing or replacing them which caused to replace my rear suspension. Rich's took it in to do their analysis . 4 days later I call for updates and an employee answers and gives me an update that Rich's ran a diagnosis and it wasn't their responsibility. Told them I wanted to speak to the manager so we can both see the analysis and see the records of my car's collusion. Manager was too busy to see me I decided to call a tow service and have Campus Automotive repair my car. I want to give a huge shoutout to Campus Automotive for doing a great job fixing my car, keeping me updated and saying the truth! My advice is to not go through my experience from Rich's Auto Body because they only care about your money! I had to spend a thousand dollars that wasn't my fault! For a place to give bad service and not do their job right makes it even worse! For a business to not accept their errors and gives you the cold shoulder makes me not want to give them my business! read more

This place came highly recommended from family with great reviews but when I brought my car to them several items in my car were poorly treated and broken. They denied this after clearly being shown pictures that they took before and after the items were moved. As well they neglected to call me back about my quote for 1-2 days after the car they had completed it which cost me an entire 3-day weekends worth of time. After addressing my concerns with the manager he continually tried to pass this problem off on others such as the tow company or the accident. I had chosen them because I was told the repairs wouldn't take more than. 3 weeks and I would have my car back well it's been more than 3 months I lost my job and I'm about to loose my home because I don't have any means of transportation. I have been calling and keep getting the run around my insurance has paid off everything and I still have not received a clear answer. Update to original post......I was contacted by the folks at Rich's a few weeks after my original post, and they truly seemed concerned that we were unhappy with the repairs work that they performed. After meeting with them they had us bring the car back in to have the issues addressed. Happy to say that the problem areas have been taken care of and we are enthused to know that the folks at Rich's do still care about their customers satisfaction ! Much thanks to Leonard, Lenny and Larry for handling the situation fairly, honestly and promptly ! Rich's USED to be the "go to" shop in Merced for auto body repair....my wife's vehicle just came out of there.....a week late, looking like it had just came out of a field ( dirty), and with a the back bumper loose ( a clip was missing ). Throw in body work that is so so ( panels and gaps aren't lined up ) and grease all over the interior door handle and panel.....just seems like the folks at Rich's aren't hungry anymore......I'll take my chances, and my vehicle elsewhere. read more

Just wanted to express our appreciation to Athena and the shop people. We had work done at Rich's on a door and fender in Aug 2020. Recently, the door side molding clips started to come loose. We brought the car in to Rich's last week to see what they could do about it. Within a few minutes, Athena came out to look at the situation and immediately said they will take care of it right then. (We were actually expecting some grief about this or maybe having to make an appointment.) She drove the car around back and got the shop people to check out the loose molding. It was all done within about 20 minutes, and we drove away very satisfied. Can't expect anything more than that. Thanks for the great service. read more

Took my car in since I heard they were the best in town. I had high expectations on this shop, but besides the paint not being exactly the same, I had to take it back in since part of the job wasn't done right. They then fixed part of it and they had promised to fix another part they missed, but the owner didn't want to fix it even after they showed us pictures that a dent wasn't there when we took it into the shop. I hardly ever leave reviews unless there is a situation that needs to be addressed. I'm very disappointed with their work and professionalism. I don't recommend and they charge double if not nearly triple the price of other shops. read more

I drove my car into a sidewalk. It was a devastating accident. My car rides low so the front was destroyed. The front bumper fell off, my radiator fluid busted open, my tires were cut and scraped, rims damaged, and the car had to be towed. A part of me died when my baby took a hit. I'm from Los Angeles so I was extremely hesitant taking my beautiful Scion-FRS 2013 to a body shop in Merced, a rural town with not much around. Didn't think they had the expertise to do the job properly. Asked the local people here and they all unanimously recommended to bring my car here. Happy to say, I am EXTREMELY SATISFIED with the results. I just received my car yesterday and it looks brand-spanking new! Couldn't even tell if my car got into an accident. I literally felt like one of those customers on TV show called "pimp my ride". I felt my car just got pimped out! Although still premature, I haven't had any issues yet with the car. You are given an 1 year warranty on the repair. The exterior looks amazing. The only con about this place is it took forever to get my car fix and the price is on the higher end. My car took 2.5 weeks to finish. But I rather have them take their time fixing my car than to rush it. read more

"It was a dark & rainy night" when a large redwood tree next to the U.S. 99 Northbound lane in Turlock, California decided to fall across lanes 1, 2 and half of 3. It apparently fell a few seconds before I arrived at the scene because at that point there were only 4 or 5 cars off the side of the road due to the "tree blockage". It was so dark that the tree was only discernible when I was about 50 yards away from that redwood lying across the highway. I saw the tree at the last second and veered from the slow lane almost into the fast lane but still caught enough of the tree trunk with the front end of my Honda Fit to destroy the front bumper, bend all sorts of metal support parts under the hood, tweak the frame and even destroy the air conditioning compressor. I ended up with a 2 hour headache and some minor seat-belt rash. Jim at Rich's said I missed hitting the airbag sensor by just a few inches which is great as the car still had those Takada Airbags that have recently killed 11 people with shrapnel when activated. Yes, the airbags have been replaced...! I took the car to Rich's Autobody in Merced, CA where they handled the insurance and proceeded to restore my car back to it's original status. When I found out that the frame was tweaked I figured that I would end up driving a car that handled erratically and chewed up tires even though Rich's put their "frame straighter on the car. Well, I was wrong. The results after several months of driving are; 1. The repaired car drives wonderfully - very neutral. 2. All the bent parts were replaced with OEM parts including the bumper. 3. The areas that were re-painted (Rich's speaks of "blending the paint") are totally factory-like. I can't tell the difference between the original paint and Rich's repair. 4. The AC works fine. 5. The tires seem to be safe from premature wear. 6. The whole repair experience was stress-free. The next "dark and rainy night" that I run into a tree, I'll definitely take the car to Rich's. read more

From the lack of professionalism, the rudeness of the workers and the women at the front desk, to the bad job on actually getting things fixed. Told us the truck was done when it wasn't. My car was involved in a crash the day after Mother's Day, right in the middle of our move to our retirement home in Washington state. So you can imagine this crash was pretty devastating and really poor timing for us. Rich's Auto Body came to the rescue for us. Robert was the guy whom I worked with. He went out of his way to make sure I was kept informed about what was happening with my car every step of the way. He expedited the repair of my car to make sure I got my car back quickly and in time for our big move to our retirement home. My car looks and drives great. I was in a collision and needed to get an estimate on my car repairs. Rich's said that they had to wait until the insurance company approved coverage before the could give me an estimate. My car was barely drivable so they said I could keep the car there until the insurance company called. I had an appoinrment with the insurance company the next day at 4pm to get approval for coverage. Early the next morning I got a call from Rich's saying I needed to come get my car or tgey would put a lien on it and sell it. I tried to tell them I have an appountment at 4, theyvsaid they do not care. They did not even ask me if I had any other way to pay for the repairs. The receptionist was very rude to me and the workers made it seem like I was more of a nuisance than a customer. I do not recommend this company to anybody. They are more aboht getting tge money fast than they are about taking care of the customer. Horrible experience. read more

First time I use a body shop with a claimed paid by insurance. I'm very satisfied with the job . I was hit by a patrol car which made extensive damages to the front of my car. Took my car in for front damage repair. Paint job was good but come to find out they replaced the hood with the wrong year. Doesn't sound like a problem but: 1.old parts didn't fit correctly and 2. All the smog plaques are wrong. First time I brought it up I got the "oh well" response. After a year later and the smog tech brought up the issue I got the " it's out of warranty" response. My rental time is used up and now I'm paying an extra 100 a week for a rental car. I will never be returning to this shop. That is if I ever get my truck back. My car was involved in a hit and run and the damage to my bumper was pretty bad. I took my car to Rich's Auto Body to be repaired. Everything there is clean and organized, which generally you wouldn't expect at an auto body shop. The receptionists in the front office were very friendly and helped me through my entire experience there. They called me to give me regular updates on my car and they let me know as soon as it was finished. I really appreciated them keeping in touch with me. Rich's did an excellent job and returned my car to me in a timely manner. The body work was top notch. My car practically looks brand new now. Rich's worked with my insurance which made everything very stress free for me. I am extremely satisfied with the customer service, the body work, and the body shop in general. They do amazing work! My husband and I have taken two vehicles to them both with pretty extensive damage. They were amazing and restored both vehicles back to amazingness! The first was a 1994 Chevy Silverado that had speciality rims on it and one rim was bent. Well, you can't find those rims anymore so they had the rim that was bent sent out to be refurbished. When we got the truck back not only was the truck beautiful but the rim was perfect, not even being able to tell where it had been bent at. The second car a 2011 Ford Fusion had some front end damage. It came back today looking better than ever. We always choose Rich's because even though sometimes you might find a better deal, a better deal is no match for the quality work they do and they guarantee the work. read more

Danielle at riches promised they were going to handle our claim with allstate. Riches only took care of half the claim. We never been in an accident with bodily damage and was looking for a body shop that can be trusted and would take care of what was going to be confusing for us. I read good reviews and told my husband to go there. Jim handled our repair. It took over a month; from oct 26 to dec 14. we had a rental for the entire time. Kept being reassured that insurance was going to pay for it. In the end allstate said they were unaware our vehicle was still in the shop and that there was minimal communication with riches. They will not pay for the rental. Keep in mind that riches auto body kept assuring that allstate was going to pay for it, they guaranteed it was going to be taken care of. Now I got stuck with the bill no one wants to take liability and claim fault for there own lack of communication. Don't let your first experience be like mine with the insuranve claim. Especially during a holiday season. I will not return because of the lack of communication and the amount I had to pay out of pocket for my rental they promised was going to be covered. The guys who worked on the vehicle did a tremendous job I have to give them credit for that. The vehicle looks good, just like it was before it got damage. read more

So... I see a lot of 1 star reviews on here, and 5-star reviews... I thought I would give it an even three based on my two experiences. The first time I took my car here, it had been hit overnight while parked on the street.. just some bumper damage.. I was hoping the damage would be under $1K so it wouldn't affect my insurance (not sure if it would have anyway, just something some friends told me) and Rich's gave me a good quote (less than $1K), and got the job done. After ordering the parts, I think I may have left the car there for something like 3 days before getting it back. Good. Five-star review. Fine customer service. Work looked brand new. Also the owner is a good guy. Fast forward a few years and I've hit a deer with the same car. Took out a headlight and bent the hood a little. Damage looked minor to moderate, but no damage to radiator, hoses, belts, etc. Very drive-able; I drove it there. Right off the bat things seemed like they have changed -- people up front are less courteous, don't acknowledge your presence, don't really make eye contact, don't smile. It seemed like maybe there was some internal office politics going on -- whatever though, not my business. I just want my car fixed. So the estimator takes a look and gives me an estimate -- very professional -- it is drive-able but they say why don't I just leave it there to be safe; shouldn't take long to do the repairs-- maybe a week. OK fine. The printed estimate says "Days to Repair: 8." I've got it highlighted in front of me right here. Honestly I was hoping it would be faster, but thought they gave me a high estimate so I wouldn't be disappointed if it took longer. It is now day 21. I've been on my bike for 3 weeks... During this time I've called them three times -- once after the 8 days just to check in -- still waiting on this or that, going to be another week. OK. Next week? Exact same story. Today? Exact same story. I'm beginning to suspect they have a script that they just read from whenever somebody calls. I've tried to convey my displeasure with the situation, but all I've got is lip service. Right now as I type this I'm waiting for a call back from either my insurance agent or Rich's auto body -- although I'm not really holding my breath on Rich's auto body. I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't touched the car at all -- and I'm about ready to Drive It (no need for a tow, since it's drive-able) over to campus automotive, or somewhere who can do the job. Anyway I guess the take home is this.. I'm not really sure what is going on there, but it sounds like they have enough business these days, and they don't much need or care about Yours. So if you're insurance company tells you to go here and you've got all the time in the world for repairs to be made, and you don't much mind being treated like a number, I guess go here... when they eventually get around to it, they'll probably do good work. If you want to be treated like a person though, and one who can't afford to wait around for weeks without your vehicle, I would probably go somewhere else... The sad thing is... even if this review caused two or three people to take their business elsewhere, I don't think they will do things any differently, or start finishing jobs on time. I think Rich's has contracts with insurance companies, and stopped giving a shit about the customer at about that time. Those are my thoughts anyway. This must be the "season of car wrecks" for me. I recently brought in my 3rd dented up vehicle to Rich's for repairs. This time a Honda HR-V that was hit from the rear. The repair like similar to the other two vehicles was very thorough. They really seem to insure that any issues deep in the parts of the car that can't been seen were are corrected. In my case some bent braces and a "chain pull" to get the rear hatch floor plate to line up. The re-paint on the replaced hatch door was impeccable. Here's a couple of "extras" that were impressive. 1. I left mistakenly left a GPS unit in the back of the hatchback and it was exactly where I left it when I picked up the HR-V, 2. The left-hand rear door that wasn't involved with the original damage got scuffed while in the shop. I took it back to see if they would buff it out. I got to speak to Rich and within 5 minutes he had a Tech working on my car in the front parking lot. Ten minutes later, the door looked great and I'm on my way. No Charge. While I'm not looking forward to my fourth fender bender, I'll drag it in to Rich's if I'm unlucky enough to experience number 4. read more

Rich' s is the best there is. 58 years in the family business, and that's not even the best part. Had a bad accident in Modesto. I was screwed up, so they took my vehicle to a horrible shop in town. They tried to hose me at every turn. It was mind blowing. Got it back months later and the motor grenades on me. Took it to C&S in Merced and Joey found so much crap wrong with it. It's really Allstate's problem. $8000 later, I took it where it belonged from the start. Leonard welcomed me as usual. Crew treated me like a king. All was handled to my satisfaction first try. Admittedly, I am very particular. If Rich's can please me, they do it right. I've always known, anyone can make a commercial on how honest and caring they are. Then you get hosed and realize they are scammers. When you need work done, don't take that chance. I hope I don't, but if I need body shop work, I know where I am going. I took my 2012 Hyundai Tucson in to get fixed they told me that they were really busy over the holidays and that they don't know when they're going to be able to get to my car I said okay dropped my car off there they didn't touch my car for 2 weeks and I called to see how my car was going they said that they were waiting for the insurance company to get back to them and that they had to send in the estimate I gave them the estimate that the insurance company gave me already then they said they had to resend the same estimate back to the insurance company I said okay my car ended up taking almost a month to get fixed went to get my car back and told them did they test drive my car before they gave it back to me they said yes car my car and start driving it and then noticed that the car was pulling to the right a lot called them and told them the alignment must not be right because the car would not be pulling if they fixed it right all they had to fix is the hood the bumper and some suspension I went and took the car to Les Schwab they said the alignment wasn't done right that the car needs more parts and that the car still needs to be relined for it to stop pulling now I'm waiting for them to call me back from Rich's Auto Body to see what they're going to do about fixing my alignment right on my car you think if your car was at a body shop for a month and they got paid over $5,100 your car would turn out right guess not read more

Took my truck in for over 11,000 dollars worth of work. They kept my truck a little bit longer than agreed upon but they did an outstanding job.
