Being new to the area, I checked 3 other Auto Body shops before I took my Chrysler to Sal & Son's. GREAT decision! I had also checked with my Cousin that was born and raised in Merced. My cousin had nothing but praise for Sal. My vehicle was backed into by an SUV 4x4, so the passenger door was toast. The side mirror didn't fare so well either. I have seen other repairs where the paint didn't blend or match the rest of the vehicle, I was worried. Sal put my fears to rest on day one. Not only did he deal with the not-so-helpful insurance company, but he explained to us just what needed to be done to make our Burgundy Chrysler all pretty again. When we picked up our vehicle today I was pleased beyond words. The whole passenger side matched in color without seeing where it was blended at all! Even though this was an insurance claim, he didn't try and stick it to the insurance company. His price was fair, the workmanship was excellent, and he didn't drag out the repair time. Sal kept us informed from start to finish on the progress with parts and paint etc. Thank you Sal for a job well done! You don't get many people that believe that a handshake is their bond. Shop is actually in the back of the guy's house. Not a big deal but Sal insulted my intelligence. I know a good amount about automobiles and I decided to get something painted for my Integra. My car is tafetta white and he painted it some random white he probably had lying around his house. He tried to play it off and stated that he chose the exact color by looking at the code on the door panel but lied. Also stated that the product he painted for me was whiter than my car because my car was damaged by the sun. I WAX and POLISH my car every few months. It's a 9 year old car with PERFECT paint. Well I come back to this place 7 years later and I receive the same quality service I got last time. (writing this in 2015, but came in earlier Nov. 2014) I had a fiberglass aftermarket bumper I wanted to color match with the rest of my car and Sal and Son's delivered. Turnaround time was great. I dropped it off Monday afternoon and it was done early morning Wednesday. The price was again reasonable and par for the course for painting front bumpers. Please for your own good do not ever take your car to this con man and his son. They charged us 1500 dollars more than the original estimate and didn't tell us until the car was in pieces leaving us no choice. He put the car1 .ca back together incorrectly and now the windshield wipers w ont turn off. He charged us for a paint job on the car and only painted the front end in mismatched paint. I wouldn't take my son's wagon to this joker to look at. If I could rate them negative stars I would. If you value your vehicle stay away from these jokers. read more

As far as Sal's, He painted my second car and I am very,very pleased with the quality of work this company puts out. Here is my previous review: My husband and I have a 51 Olds. It was white. We heard about Sals' painting from a trusted friend. We hauled our shell of a car down to his place of business. He said he could make it show quality. I just wanted it painted with some form of color. He had it for quite some time. Painted it a soft lime green with a pearl white top. What a surprise to me when I saw it. It definitely is show quality. I am very pleased with the job he and his sons did. I have more jobs and he is the one I trust with my painting. The mechanism in my car door that rolls my window up and down broke recently. Sal was the first mechanic I thought of to go to get it fixed since he was the one who fixed the window on the other side of my car for me two years ago. He's great at what he does and charges a very reasonable price for his work. This place is a piece of TRASH!!... Painted my car and paint started to chip no less than a year later. They told me it was due to "flexing" of the paint caused by small rocks on freeway lol. Well now my door handle is chipping away which they painted that as well. I asked them if they could repaint it and I was told it will cost regular price.
