He tow's for county of merced also. my truck battery was bad and dead. insead of jumping truck. he broke my drive line. He didn't have my permission to do this. His employee forced my truck on small towing truck causing some damages. instead of calling for flat bed. he force and force truck for twenty minutes. But not all his fault deputy wallace said he wasn't waiting he had moreless gave him permission to cause this damages. He did go back and forth to the deputy.But instead he wasn't prossessional and got that flat bed he caused damages. read more

I had my car fixed and they charged me about $ 7000.0 to fix it. They swapped my good battery under warranty (six months old) for a broken battery that did not hold the power. They did not accept any wrong doing and refused to cover the cost. Do not work with this corruptive people take your car to other place where honesty is part of their values. read more

I would not recommend this place. They do a crappy job and just want your money. I left my car there 4 times to fix mistakes they've made!!! At one point PJ was measuring the gaps between my headlights and hood with a pen! He told me that he looked at other cars from a dealership and the car from the dmatched my car but they were inconsistent. I had to fight with them every time I went to look at their work because they would fix one problem but create another. PJ was also rude to me when I pointed out something that was wrong with my car and made an excuse for it. read more

These people lied to me over the phone then to my face. I wanted a tow. They said they do that. I called them the previous day to arrange having my car towed the next morning. We had agreed upon a price, verified where my car was precisely, and discussed the importance of punctuality (being on time). I show up early the next morning at 8:20 am because we had agreed that I would have to get my keys to them that early in order for them to tow my vehicle to my mechanic before 10 am. Plenty of time, right? Especially since they told me it would only take 45 minutes from when I gave them my keys to have my car at its final destination. False! Pete's Auto Body did not contact me as they considered it a "job well done" but my mechanic sure as heck got back to me and informed me that my car didn't get to them until 3 in the afternoon. That is a problem because my mechanic is a particular kind that has a schedule and is a real professional. I'm sure they can fix an auto body because my friends car looks good as new after his accident but Pete's Auto Body is useless at towing and telling the truth. read more

Don't even bother! We ordered a tow truck and they promised to be there friday after 12 noon and they never showed up or gave us a call. We called today (monday) they said they don't even have drivers to do it. A call would of been nice. Bad service. $200 from Merced to Atwater. read more

Having had an argument with my mailbox, which I lost, I needed to replace the side mirror on my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. My first thought was to go to the dealership in town. The quote was higher than I wanted to pay so called Pete's. I've had work done there before, so knew they did a good job, but it hadn't occurred to me that I could go to a local body shop, duh!! I was given a quote more than $100 less than I'd received at the dealership. The part was ordered, painted to match my car and then they called me to have it installed. The install took less than an hour! (This took less than the two weeks I was told it would take, ordering the part was what took time.) The people are always friendly, the charges are reasonable and the work done well and in a timely manner. I definitely will recommend this business to anyone who wants timely work done well at a reasonable price. Also, I really try to support local businesses here in Merced. read more

I went to Pete's for an estimate to repair my car because I had two previous good experiences with the company when it was run by Pete,Sr. The first experience , about thirty years ago , convinced me that Pete Sr. was an honest businessman . Today, I went in with three dings to my two year old car, two caused by other people opening their doors into my car and the third caused by my own negligence. I told Pete Jr. this when I showed him the damage so he knew how the damage was done. He wanted to know if insurance would be covering this before he provided the estimate ; I replied"no."His first estimate was over two thousand dollars . I told him there was no way I could justify fixing it for that price and asked him to break it down so that the repair price for the two caused by other people was separate. He said I should tell the insurance company all the damage was vandalism ... I was outraged that he suggested I lie. I told him I would not lie . When I returned home, I was still angry and called to tell him that he had besmirched his dad's good name. I also told him that I am a Retired prosecutor and that following his suggestion to lie would not only be wrong , but would be a crime: insurance fraud . Even had Pete , Jr . provided a reasonable estimate like his dad use to do , I would not have the work performed there. He is not an honorable businessman and is a discredit to his dad. read more
