I cannot in good conscience recommend them. I don't review often. However, they came out for a basic service call, charged a good amount. The plumber said 100% he knew what was wrong. Which we knew too the pipe was broken. It comes out that it was also the wrong size. They came out a second time a bigger charge and replaced the pipe. Ok great. He said it was good. Ran the washer 1 time it was all over the floor wet with water! Call them back out thinking maybe they honor their work. Nope. 2 guys came to my parents house and it was just my mother there and honestly I feel they tried to take advantage. First they didn't speak the language then when I got there I speak fluent Spanish and it was no issue. They explained they snaked the drain 25 feet as that wasn't done, and it was clear it needed to be done. My question immediately was why didn't the first guy do it? They finish saying it needs another 1100 dollars to fully fix it. And then try to charge 350, I ask what? They put me on the phone with the boss. Who I have to say the conversation never really got heated on either side. He said let me take this back and see what I can do. I fully understand if the first guy fully did the Job it would have taken longer and there would be a higher charge. He called my mother back as they were paying the bill I was only assisting, he took 40 off but added a service and processing (credit card fee). It came to 360 after paying 425 to "repair" it the first time. I called the guy, again he was polite and it didn't get heated. However I was told it was lint, to which it's a brand new washer, I challenged that. It was the pipe was wrong, then it was our fault we told the first guy it was snaked. I pushed back because it's the technicians responsibility to check, he said I sent 2 guys. I pushed back and said we didn't ask for 2 guys. He said it's a flat rate and would have been that much if he did it the first time. I knew I wasn't getting anywhere. I don't feel they honor their work and I don't like how the technicians/plumbers were with a woman feel they tried to bully her. And when I came it changed. Not a good experience or service at all. I also mentioned they had a lot of red flags, including their service vehicle having an expired inspection sticker on it. I was told, the van was in the shop by the tech, then the boss said it wasn't his true van and the van was in the shop. We had them install a new AC unit and condenser. When they came to give an estimate, they never checked the breaker, which is a 20 amp breaker. They also never checked the wiring outside connecting the electrical panel to the disconnect which was a 12 gauge. When they installed the unit the temperature outside was 65, so they lowered the new thermostat to 62 so the unit would kick on and it worked fine. A week later when the temp hit 84, the unit kicked on but did not cool the area. I called them and they came put the next day. They determined the condenser did not kick on and the breaker kicked off. The unit they installed required a breaker of 25 amps, not 20, and the proper wiring gauge needed was 10. Also, they never filed for an electrical permit, only a mechanical permit as they are not licensed electricians. They should never have installed the unit knowing it was not compatible. We had to spend thousands to get a new circuit and breaker installed. I would NOT recommend them for HVAC work. read more

Called this company for a leak behind the refrigerator. Promptly came out to investigate in 2 hours. They fixed the leak and were extremely professional. Other companies told me 10 days before they could come out. Super professional and helped in a pinch when we needed it. Would strongly recommend based on this experience. read more

I can't speak to the quality of their work, since they never called me back. Here's what happened: Late in the day, the furnace stopped working. I went through the usual steps to try to get the thing lit and when it was clear that it was beyond my skill level, we called Rich's. It's supposed to be a 24 hour service. I call and the operator says that someone will call me within an hour. That was more than 12 hours ago. We found someone else who just called to tell us they'll be here within an hour. Hopefully that works out better. In fairness, Hurricane Sandy was exactly one month ago. I suspect my furnance problem may be related to fried electrical components, and maybe they are totally swamped. Still, if you're too busy, then just say so. They didn't. I wouldn't call them again. Update 3/10/2015: The owner of Rich's sent me a very nice message explaining that they were having problems with their answering service at the time and would like an opportunity to win back my business. I can understand that. I do think it strange that there was no response to my review until over 2 years after I wrote it, but perhaps they just don't follow Yelp? I probably would give them another chance if I hadn't moved out of the state. read more

Great service from Rich's Plumbing & Heating Services. We initially arranged for an assessment to determine why my 2nd floor didnt have heat and the third and first floor did. Dan and Luis arrived within the estimated timeframe and proceeded to do their thing. After bleeding the pipes from the basement, heat returned to the radiators for the living and bedroom. They had some concerns about the pressure and continued to troubleshoot, and after a few more minutes of work, heat was being produced in the kitchen and spare room covering all the radiators on my floor. Dan and Luis were professional and courteous and I am very pleased with the quality of their service. I would highly recommend. read more

One of the most dishonest and unprofessional companies I have ever dealth with, especially the manager. I called explaining that my HVAC system was not working and it may be the result of a dead animal as I experiencing an off smell in the general area of the HVAC unit. Two young techs were sent out to my place, they attempted to locate the dead animal in and around the unit but came up empty. So it was agreed that the dead animal is unrelated to HVAC issues. The techs were able to get the unit started two times, but could not consistently keep it running or start it. In the end they sighted possible issues but no definite cause or solution to the unit not functioning correctly. They said they would arrange for a more experienced tech to come out, hopefully the following day and determine the issue and advise on a cost to repair. After 2 weeks and 7 calls no one has been back to diagnose and advise me on exactly what is wrong and how much it will cost to repair. I think that is a reasonable expectation for a diagnostic charge of $90.00 to which I paid. The Manager was very unprofessional in trying to resolve the issue and was the most horrible person I had the displeasure of speaking with after 7 calls to this company. He motivated me to reverse the charge, write this email and take this matter further if need be. Stay away from that company and do not trust anything they say unless it is in writing. read more

My hot water tank pilot wouldn't stay lite. It was under warranty but the original company wouldn't come out. Tried to get someone for two days but most said they would void the warranty. Finally called Rich's Plumbing and they said they would be there in two hours. When running late they called and arrived in a timely manner. After days of stress, these guys were professional and put my fears at ease. When I called to see if they do free estimates they said they did. Then when the guy came he charged us $90.00 saying it's a service call not an estimate and he would need to charge us $90.00. I explained to him their Customer service person said there was no charge for an estimate. I refused to pay , but my husband just gave his card . Will never use their services or recommend them to anyone! The guy was also a half hour late, and when we asked him if he could fix anything today, he claimed he didn't have the necessary fittings . They advertise themselves as a reliable 24 hour service who prides themselves on their prompt service. called them last night at 9pm for a furnace repair. Was promised a call back. One of the sloppiest workers I have ever seen in my life. I called them for kitchen sink leaks and the person came and in and took more time than usual. It was clear that he didn't know what he was doing. After a 5 hour work he left. We could still see some leak and he mentioned to him and told that it will be fixed once it dries up. The next day we could see the leak. We called Rich's and they sent the same plumber. He did something for an hour again and left. 3 months gone and we see that the adhesives are coming off and the leak is back with a bang. I know Rich's will not cover it as it's been 3 months. I just wanted to let them know that they had done a bad job. The rude guy answering the phone just hung up on me. It was $300 wasted. read more

This was the only one of the eight plumbers I called who was able to come and clear a serious clog on a Friday night. They called back promptly, and said they'd be here within the hour. The guy took just a little over an hour to get here. He was very professional, gave a quote in advance, and had it fixed within twenty minutes. The price was on the higher side from what I've seen online, but my experience is limited, it was last minute on a Friday night, and he had to snake two drains to clear the clog, so I'm not holding that against them. They also have coupons on their website, which they accepted without question. I would use them again. read more

Richard has always been responsive, reliable and available; even came one saturday night at nine pm when my basement flooded and took care of the emergency - and came back at 4 am to make sure everything was ok. Fortunately, I did not have the pleasure of dealing with them but my husband did. Our water heater that we purchased from them 5 year back was leaking. We called the to check it out and stated it was busted and needed to be replaced. Even under warranty they charged $800 for labor. The next day same problem. Just because I was not aware how much a flame sensor would cost in the furnace, it is unfair to quote me $500. Thank god I was able to get away with just $125 which they call as 'consultation fee' to identify the problem. A simple google search made me realize that the flame sensor cost's less than $15 and a youtube video made me fix the sensor myself for FREE. Shame on you rich's plumbing to practice such cheap tactics. read more

Rich's charged a lot for the replacement of a gas heating system and though they offer coupons on their website, they refused to honor them. There was a coupon for a free water heater when a gas boiler was installed, and when we called them about the water heater, they said we would have to pay for installation. Nothing on the coupon or the website said that installation had to be purchased to get the free water heater. They have also tried to stick us with the cost of the permit for the boiler installation, even though that was supposed to be included in their price. read more

We just bought a house that needed a lot of work. When we began taking apart the kitchen, we quickly realized there was a big issue with the sink. We decided to turn off the water while we figured it out. We called Rich's Plumbing and were greeted with a nice lady who said someone would be out there in an hour. When Tom arrived within the hour, he listened to exactly what we were experiencing and immediately identified the issue.. He recommended a few different solutions and fixed our problem in a half hour. Great service, timely, and reasonably priced. I have used Rich's for the past 5 years. They have done all the plumbing work in both my home and my daughter's home, which was a complete remodel. They are a class company. They usually arrive within 3 or less hours of being called. Today they closed and winterized my pool house and installed a new toilet in the master bathroom. They are extremely neat and clean. Sloppy, unprofessional, when the worker made the whole in the wall they cut wires, which they did not want to take fault and i had to pay an electrician to fix, they finished the work did not submit permit until after work was done so i have a mess in my kitchen that i cannot use and now i have to sit and wait. BEWARE OF THESE CON ARTIST!!! I own a 2 family apartment. I hired these con artist to work on my tenants bath tube. The plumber shows me the new knobs and shower head he is going to install on my second floor bath tube and gives me a price. I pay him (A grave mistake) and go to work. When I come back to look at the work he did I find that he not only did not give me the shower head and knobs he promised he gave me used knows. This company was fast to reply and demand payment which was made and did not complete the job leaving a hole in my chimney and breaking a gas valve to my water heater which they refused to repair without ME paying for their damage. I contacted them multiple times requesting completing the job and/or compensating me for damage and repairs to gas line that their installer caused but without the courtesy of a return call or contact. Hard to actual rate their job but the fact that DIDN'T show up says a lot about this company. 10/02 @ 11:30am. I called this place to schedule a diagnosis appointment. The customer service rep told me someone would be at my house the following day (10/03) between 12-2PM 10/03 @ 9:57am. I called again to make I was on the technician's route for the day. The customer service rep said the technician would call back within 15-30 mins to confirm the time he would be at my house, 10/03 @ 11:56am. I called again and told the customer service rep that I hadn't received a call from the technician and that I wanted to make sure he had me in his visit list for the day. Same response, the technician would give you a call within 15-30 mins. 10/03 @ 2:01pm. at this point the time window had passed. I called again and the customer service rep told me that they would pass the message to the technician. She mentioned the technician was busy and basically gave me a BS excuse. I told her if he is busy, I think it is fair for a client to know if he is coming or not. I cannot sit around all day waiting for a technician. If says he is not coming I can either plan something else such as calling other place. 10/03 @ 2:05pm. I received a call from a gentleman from 908-966-1691. He honestly had to no idea whats going on. I hope he is not the manager because oh boy has no idea whats going on in his business. When I picked up the line, his first question comment was, I am trying to find out who you scheduled the appointment with, then he asked me, are you aware there is a diagnosis fee? which I responded YES. He then said, ok let me find out whats going on with the technician and I will give you a call back. That's all he said. 10/05 @ 10am. as of this time, no one has call me back. I will certainly not recommend this place and if you have an emergency, this would be the last place I would call even after trying a DIY video on youtube.
