We finished our kitchen renovation a few months ago. In our whole experience with this, there was only one contractor we were completely happy with, and it was Richstone. After having some issues with the countertop company our GC wanted to use, we decided to try finding our own and went to Richstone, just based on reviews. The first thing that I liked was that the rep in the store - ours was Tina - was actually helpful - helpful in suggesting colors, helpful in providing all kinds of information that no one had provided us with before. It took us months to decide on the stone for the countertop, and she was ever patient and responsive. When we finally chose one, it turned out to be really hard to get - and yet, Richstone managed to get it relatively quickly and way faster than the contractor we'd originally been with had told us it would take. Before the install, we got a proof showing exactly how it would look on the counter (and it did end up looking exactly like the proof). The measurement process was painless, quick, and accurate. Installation was way better than we had even hoped for - they were fast, neat, and the finished product was absolutely perfect. It is the one installation in the whole kitchen that actually went according to plan. So they came when they were supposed to, they did the job they were supposed to do, they did it right, and we love the countertops. Moreover, I felt like Richstone guided us through the process and Tina did a lot of hand-holding that I needed, because honestly all of this is pretty confusing and intimidating for a first-timer. Let me start by saying that I rarely leave reviews on service but after this experience I couldn't NOT leave one. I called Richstone Marble & Granite on a Monday morning. We were behind on our kitchen renovation and we were looking to get a quick turn around on countertops. From the moment Michelle answered the phone we knew we had found the right place. Richstone had a fabricator out that afternoon and since we already had a slab picked out they said they could have them in by Friday! It gets better. I get a call from the company later on that afternoon and was told we were being bumped UP to Wednesday for the install. For a second I thought it might be too good to be true but it definitely wasn't. The communication by the office personnel was just incredible and we couldn't have asked for anything more. It's now Wednesday at 3:00pm and our countertops are installed and look absolutely fantastic. The crew that did the installation was meticulous and you would have thought they were putting them in their own homes. They even covered all of our wood floors from outside to the Kitchen to not get anything dirty. We had to have one seam in our tops based on the layout of our kitchen and if you walked into my house it would be difficult for you to find. In closing this was hands down the best experience I have ever had from a customer service stand point. Choose this company and you just can't go wrong. read more

I ended up choosing quartz countertop called "sparkling black" and it is beautiful! The pictures don't do it justice, but they truly sparkle. Everyone at Richstone was incredibly responsive both through email and by phone and they were all very professional. They were incredibly quick/efficient when it came to taking exact measurements of my kitchen and then installing the countertop. They also all wore masks when they entered my condo. Buyers beware... You may not be getting what you pay for!! We hired Richstone Granite a while back and we recently discovered that they lied to us in their written contract. In their contract they listed that we were getting an Allora Sink model and instead they used (according to them now) a cheaper chinese off brand. This alternate sink damages easily, we found out when we called Allora USA for a replacement and they confirmed the sink we had was not one of theirs. We have contacted a lawyer and have been in communication with Richstone Granite that way, they have mocked our lawyer and lied to her saying that they are just too busy. Richstone Granite will take your money and then blow you off. It's a family run company that is not about customer service. I'd steer as far away from them as possible. They committed Fraud in our case and will pay for it. You get what you pay for I suppose! Incidentally, some of Allora USA employees are buddy friends with the Richstone Granite family... But Allora USA seems like a more respectable company who stands behind their products. If I could give negative stars I would. I plan to file a complaint with the BBB! read more

My husband and I are in the process of renovating our kitchen and we were at the point where we were looking at countertops. We submitted several online inquiries, but since we were not sure exactly what color granite we wanted, we decided to check out a few showrooms last Friday. The first one we went to was this company. There showroom is fairly small, but they had samples of the possible colors against one wall. We picked out a couple that we were interested in and the got a fast quote from the young lady working. She was very kind and eager to help us find exactly what we were looking for and she was very knowledgeable about their products. At first we were interested in how the sample looked for one called "peacock green". The salesperson quickly pointed out that the color we were looking at has shiny pieces in it when you get a whole slab. This wasn't what we wanted so she suggested we look at Uba Tuba. We ultimately went with her suggestion and it turns out that Uba Tuba is the cheapest color they offer. So she certainly wasn't trying to up sell us on a more expensive color. After we discussed sinks, faucets, edging and several other details of the sale, she printed us a detailed price quote. Even though we liked Richstone, we decided to shop around a bit more. We went to another place in Alexandria and for the EXACT same product and installation, we were quoted nearly $500 more. So we called Richstone and set up a measurement for the very next day. The technician came within his time window and completed everything he needed within an hour. All that was left was to set up the installation. We ended up being able to get them in as early as Tuesday of this week so we went for it. The installation was a large project but the technicians were very kind and cleaned up after themselves very well. Overall the whole install took about 4 hours at which point they had coordinated with a local plumber to come out and hook up our faucet. We had to pay the plumier separately, but it was a very reasonable price that Richstone had negotiated for us. So in a matter of 5 days we have brand new countertops and couldn't be happier with them. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I have used Richstone twice during the last year, they are great. This is a family owned and run business. Sophia and Raymond in particular were great to deal with; very friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy at all. I did shop around and their prices were much lower than their competitors and they gave a free SS sink. In my first project (basement bar) total turnaround time was 3-4 days which I consider pretty fast. The second one (office kitchen) was measured in the morning, fabricated during the day, and, to my amazement, they called me later on the same day and were able to install granite during that evening!!! (and...NO, I am NOT making this up, this really happened, they just had a hole in their schedule that day and they fit me in) Finally, the quality of the workmanship has been stellar and my granite looks amazing. Note: We did not hire Richstone to do our kitchen due to the awful customer service. This review is for the customer service only. I called approximately 2 weeks prior to schedule an in-home consultation for cabinet and countertop design for our kitchen. We selected a day I could stay home from work and I was given a 2 hour window. 2:30-4:30. 2:30 rolls around and I get a call that they have overbooked and need to reschedule me. Well, why me? They just insist that they have too few workers and need to reschedule for tomorrow morning. I cannot do the next day since I took off today for this appointment. I need to be at work the following day. The lady on the phone says she'll ask the owner to come by instead. 3:30 comes around and I get a call from the owner. He can't make it until 6pm this evening because he has "too many other customers" and cannot get to my house. I have another appointment at that time that will force me to be away from the house. I understand that flexibility is necessary at times, but isn't that why they give you a two hour window? When I told the owner that I expected him to be there during the time frame he promised or he would no longer have my business, he tried to review my order with me ("counter tops and cabinets, right?") which did not address what I had said. He then said that he could be by at 6 again. At this point, I canceled their service, with a raised voice from the owner and a lecture about how busy they are during the holidays. It is not the customer's fault if a business overbooks themselves. It is not my problem to deal with. Appointments should be honored as they are made for a specific reason. If you value your time and decent customer service, do not bother with this company. In response to the business's response: Offering an appointment outside of the promised time is unacceptable. I booked several appointments that day, as I expect many people do when they take off an entire day of work for appointments. I had my own appointments back to back. And furthermore, because they could not come when promised, the only option was to cancel. How in the world could I have them come by the next day? Miss another day of work? I just don't understand what people in today's working world can keep missing work for appointments at home. read more

Richstone Marble and Granite really delivered and I would not hesitate to recommend them. We had an antique carrerra marble surround that we transported in numerous pieces to our historic home. The surround didn't fit perfectly in the space and Richstone was able to create and incorporate matching pieces seamlessly, along with a matching hearth, resulting in a fireplace surround that was even more beautiful than how it originally looked in its old space. We did encounter a slight snafu when one of the measurements was off, but Sofia, the Owner, was immediately responsive and ensured that the issue was resolved swiftly. First of all, I just want to mention that when you use this company ask for Sofia & Natalie because they are so wonderful. They took their time to fulfill all my requests. I don't think anyone could have done a superb job like them. I did a kitchen-remodeling project this October. I had a party to host and I had only 20 days to finish this project. To my surprise they finished everything in 18 days! I normally don't rave about any kitchen related projects because everyone who did anything to my kitchen wasn't up to my satisfaction. Sofia and Natalie worked really hard on my project to get everything done on time and with top-notch quality. So I'm very happy that I was taken care of and satisfied in every step of the way. I'm glad that I went with a family-owned company because they really did go out of their way to get everything done. Raymond, who is their father, even worked late hours with the crew to finish it on time. This company came $11,000 under compared to other companies. We just renovated our kitchen using the services of Richstone Marble and Granite, and we are very happy with the results. They offer good materials and decent craftsmanship at a price that is about 33% lower than other full-service kitchen renovation companies in the area. Now, more details. Pros: 1) The price is unbeatable. We looked at about 5 other companies before hiring Richstone, and everywhere we were promised much less for a much bigger price. The difference was about $5 000! So, if you are on a budget, go with Richstone! 2) The materials were quite good. We got very pretty kitchen cabinets with solid wood doors (KHoney color), with very tall upper cabinets (42 inches). The granite was beautiful, and we had a choice between 5 or 6 very affordable options. The floor tiles they offer for free are very basic and neutral, but still nice. 3) Most of the workers/ subcontractors they hire are very professional and do a great quality job. The carpenter Manuel, the plumber Haluk, the electrician Jamal, and the backsplash tile person Corman (sorry, not sure about some of the names), and the guys who installed the granite were all true artists of their craft, loved their work, and produced excellent results, very precise, accurate, and attractive. 4) The company kept to the schedule. They finished the whole project in 12 days, only 10 of which were actual business days. 5) They were willing to correct imperfections. There were a couple of setbacks, but, after we complained, everything was quickly redone or corrected. 6) Sofia (the sales rep/administrator at the office) was very pleasant, polite, easy to talk to, and professional. Cons: 1) There was sometimes lack of communication/coordination between the various employees of the company and the subcontractors. For instance, some wrong cabinets were initially delivered, some cabinets were missing, it was hard to get hold of the project manager sometimes. But all of it was eventually corrected and dealt with. 2) One of the workers did a very poor job on tiling the floor (very sloppy and inaccurate), so they had to break the whole floor and retile it again on our request. But they were willing to correct the mistakes. After that, we requested a different worker for our backsplash, and ended up with a really nice one who did an awesome job. 3) The electrical part of the work cost an arm and a leg (both the materials and the labor), and, though the electrician did a nice job, I still feel we paid too much for the what it's worth. So, if you have your own electrician, definitely use him. We probably just did too little research on the electrical aspects of the project. 4) The project manager (Raymond) was sometimes hard to work with (language issues, not very outspoken communication style, too busy moving around between projects). So just be prepared for that. Overall, I do recommend this company, and I would hire them again. Just remember to do your research thoroughly, to nudge and control every stage of the project, and not to be afraid to voice your concerns. read more

Richstone was absolutely the cheapest of all the quotes I received. Their staff was very friendly and courteous. However, I will say that you get what you pay for. While I am very happy with my granite counters, I did have them come back out to make two seams less visible and I later noticed that one of my counters is thinner than the counter it's connected to. It's not really noticeable, but I should've been told why or informed by the installer. High variety of stone, good prices that include installation, and quick turnaround (2-3 days). However, in the process of installation, the crew cut large trenches and holes into my wall to fit the granite it--which leads me to believe the templator did not do a very good job. You would think if so much damage was done, they would patch all the holes and trenches, but no. We had to call/email 5 times over the course of a month to get them to come out and fix all the damage they caused. In my opinion, we paid a lot in time wasted and in frustration. My husband and I moved in to this foreclosed house and we spent a lot of money to renovate this place. So I had a very tight budget. The granite counter top was basically the "cherry on top" of my kitchen. So, I need it like ASAP. I was expecting to pay around $4000 because my parent's kitchen is about the same size as mine. We looked over about 8 companies (including the company that my parents went with and unfortunately that company went bankrupt) and some were way too expensive, the company in Ashburn, Flintstone Marble & Granite quoted $7000! I also had some other little companies' quotes (just to see the difference) they quoted about $2600-$2900 but their materials were nothing like the stone that I was looking for ( there were either too gray or had some cracks). Anyway, I went over to Richstone because the lady on the phone was very nice and professional. Their price was not the lowest but of course not the highest. I paid $3400 and believe me when I say this, it was worth it! This place has a medium size showroom but surprisingly a lot of slabs. I think their materials doubled their showroom, if not more. They gave us a very fast quote. I liked how they weren't "pushy," I had this guy from Gerali granite kept pushing me to buy the counter top. Anyway, my husband & I were down to two companies, Granite outlet and Richstone. When I visited their location and viewed their slabs, Richstone definitely was the one. I like this company. Unlike other companies, they will measure you, quote you, and install you all within a week. Very friendly and no pressure at all. And their prices are lower than everyone else. Another company I dealt with literally wouldn't even make an appointment to come measure until I'd given them a deposit. Richstone will be at your house to measure within 48 hours after your initial phone call, and their office will generate a quote immediately after receiving your measurements. Once you've agreed on the quote and selected your piece of stone, they will schedule your installation within 3 days. They will come to your home evenings and weekends. I had granite counter tops installed a few months ago. They are beautiful, the price was great, and the installers did a fantastic job. However, the fabricator forgot to bevel one edge of the counter and getting him to come back was almost impossible. When he did return, he showed up without the proper equipment and coverings. He should have known better. Thus, I ended up with dust everywhere. Additionally, I did not receive a sample from leftover pieces of my stone--after asking repeatedly--so it's impossible to go to a tile center and select a backsplash without an actual sample. Pictures don't work with exotic stones that have lots of crystals. So I, like the other customer, would encourage you to use them your own risk. They are wonderful when they are getting your money but the customer service sucks. read more

After doing some exhaustive research on all the granite companies available in my area, I finally decided on Richstone to replace the countertops in my kitchen and am very happy that I did. This is why: 1. They had the best price, hands down. I received quotes that were $1,000 over their quote. 2. They were easy to communicate with. Every time I had a question, I always received a prompt and polite response. 3. They were extremely accommodating. After the granite was installed, I realized I had overlooked an electrical outlet underneath the counter. Without a hole installed, that outlet would have been useless. I contacted the company and they immediately said they could get the workers to come back out and make a hole. Granted, the workers were scheduled to come out to install brackets as well, but they could have easily charged me for this additional request as it wasn't in the contract. However, they didn't and I really was impressed with that. 4. Their staff, from the salespeople to the installers, are thoroughly professional and polite. They were also one of the few companies who came all the way out to my house for a quote instead of demanding that I come to their showroom. 5. Their experience shows. When they came out to do an estimate, they made suggestions (like extending the island out a bit further) that I didn't even think of. It wasn't for the sake of an up sell, but to make sure the kitchen looked its best. 6. They are a family company and I felt more comfortable using them rather than a big box store. Again, I looked at many companies before choosing Richstone, mostly in the Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax region. We even delayed the move to our new house because of the time it took me to research, but we are both more than happy with the results in the end. After doing an internet search for countertop installers I came across Richstone Marble & Granite. Michelle immediately got in touch with me, had me send pictures of the kitchen so she could give me a rough estimate, sent multiple pictures of quartz countertops and had a gentleman come out immediately to measure. Well, as I learned quickly with this company not only are they friendly, helpful, polite they also believe in not making their customers wait. They follow through on everything they say. I had an estimate that night! Michelle offered to bring samples to my home and invited me to the store to look around. I chose to go to the store. I emailed Michelle so she knew when I was coming and she got right back to me. I went out on a Saturday to the store. I have never picked out new countertops Michelle was extremely nice and beyond patient. She really knows what she is dealing with. She gave me estimates for a couple different quartz. I went home and thought about it. There was no pressure at all to pick something immediately. I called Michelle and told her what I had picked. She sent me the contract etc and had someone out Saturday (this is just a week since I went to the store). They removed my old countertop and backsplash. It is truly a work of art what they do. These gentlemen are very talented. The put my quartz countertop in and came back Monday to install the backsplash. They cleaned up everything and made sure I was happy. Now today the plumber that Michelle suggested came out and I can not say it enough everyone I worked with was so AMAZING!! Just have a granite counter top around 42 sf install to my sister house around 2 weeks back. Everything went good from the measurement to follow up with sell rep and the installation of the counter top. However, we bump into issue with the lumber when it come to the reconnect of the sink and water line. First of all, when we try to have this new granite counter top install to the house, we want everything new. So, we go out and buy new faucet, garbage disposal and an RO unit. When the lumber come to the house to do the installation, basically he do not like all of the new stuff. The house does not have an RO unit before so he do not connect that unit for us. If we want it to be install, extra charge. Because we want to replace the old garbage disposal with a new one for this house project, he want an extra 80 dollar. So the basic installation of all lumber is 150, if we agree on the extra charge, total will come out at 230. I just do not get it, what is the difference between the old and new one? does it take more than an hour to install a new one compare to the old one. At the end, we save 230 by letting the lumber go home with out any work. I am not a lumber but i an do the project myself. It took me a total of 4 hours to finish the work. I give it a 3 stars just because i do not like the way the lumber talk to his customers. We have no problem of paying extra 80 dollar for the service but i can not stand with the way he deal with his customer. The way he talk feel like he is doing us a favor. Come on, i pay for the service and i expect some one talk to me in the professional way. read more

I'm another person that rarely writes reviews but Richstone is worth writing about. I own a condo in DC that was completely flooded by a bad plumber who did work in the building. To make things worse, I was out of town and my place flooded for days before the water damaged reached the lobby. (From the 3rd floor) Richstone was the BRIGHT (5 star) that came to my rescue. From the first phone call to completion, they were amazing. As for my place, I had to replace almost everything. My counter top was this press board laminate. My wonderful and historic flooring was gone too. I was forced into a renovation. YES... They do floors too. I'm thankful to have my home back and really thankful for Richstone. We did our kitchen with Richstone Marble and Granite a few month ago and we were very disappointed with their workmanship. Granite countertops were not aligned correctly and the installers were rude/pissed off at us. My husband and I complained over and over again. My experience with Richstone was a very good one. They were almost too efficient - I picked out the granite on Tuesday and by Thursday afternoon it was installed. The customer service was excellent - the staff was professional and very knowledgeable. From a pricing standpoint, they were VERY competitive. My granite is absolutely beautiful and will enjoy it for many, many years!!! Two thumbs up. read more
