About a year ago I had a quote from Ricks Plumbing to replace the furnace at my condo. They had the job, but there were red flags so I went with a closer vendor with a better rep (Astacio, who did an excellent job and has very professional techs). Ricks Plumbing was weird. They didn't know there was a drain under the unit in the furnace room and wanted to install a UV device to get rid of the condensation (no one else has ever heard of this device). They never came out to look at it plus they kept changing the install date. After the third date change, I called Astacio Sila who come out on a Friday and my new furnace went in on a Monday. We had been without heat/hot water for almost a month by then in October and it was getting cold. So almost a year later, Ricks Plumbing came and did some roto work for a neighbor, had left his pump in the middle of the walkway outside the unit. Then the tech came out of neighboring unit and approached me, accusing me loudly of some made up thing against this neighbor. Maybe he was on something... It was bizarre. First of all, I hadn't done that. If her not living there for years and having her gas turned off was an issue, it was her problem, not mine. This was none of the Ricks Plumbing tech's job or business. Maybe his scaring me outside my home was to score points with the property manager here at this Sono complex (mismanaged for years, all stairs were recently condemned). See my other Yelp review... I called Ricks Plumbing to tell them about this and they basically laughed at me. If you want a procrastinating, mentally challenged and perhaps violent tech to come into your home, by all means call Ricks Plumbing. We had an existing Navien boiler on-demand heating system in our basement Utility room that we discovered needed serious attention. Prior to our purchase of this home, this unit was badly installed and patched into the existing 70-year-old plumbing. We didn't know this until we were given a comprehensive and expert analysis by Scott McCoy and Jay Sullivan of Rick's Plumbing. They were able to show us in clear and understandable detail all the shortcomings and what was needed for an efficient heating system that would last for many years to come. They prepared a plan that covered a full 3-zone repipe using copper pipes, drilling new vent pipe holes to allow our Navien boiler to be lifted and correctly installed to the proper height, building 3/4" solid core wood walls to mount everything to, and adding a magnetic particle filter to protect the Navien's delicate interior parts. They accomplished this in ONE DAY!  The difference is stunning, as you can see in the Before/After pictures, and we have already begun to experience an increase in the efficiency of our baseboard and radiator heating and getting a full tub of hot water. We knew that this would be an important capital improvement and we trusted them to do it right. And they came through. read more

Had work done 5 years ago. Bill was outrageous and company would not itemize it. Turns out subpar job was done. Pipes below kitchen sink leaking as the vertical pipe was several inches too short to stay inside the connecting pipe Which was covered by a plastic nut. Ruined the floor below the pipes. Plumber who fixed this mess called it a "hack" job. Owner did not return call to discuss. Would not use nor would I recommend Rick's Plumbing Service. read more

I recently had a new countertop put in with a new sink and faucet. My normal plumber no longer does it anymore, so I had to find a new plumber. I turned to yelp and found Rick's Plumbing and decided to give them a shot based on the good reviews. Making an appointment was very easy and they were able to come out on the day I requested. I needed them to replace some old valves/pipes, remove an old water purifier, install a garbage disposal and hook up our new faucet. Rick's plumbing sent out Mike, a really nice guy. Very friendly and he told me exactly what he was going to do. He was able to remove some of their standard cost for me since I had already supplied some of the parts he would need (had the faucet and disposal all ready to go). His work was quick and he showed me his work right after. The work was very neat and no mess was left. He remembered to turn on all the water valves he had to turn off during the visit as well. The end price was very reasonable for all that I wanted done I think. I was able to pay with a credit card, which was really nice. I would definitely recommend Rick's plumbing for anyone. read more

Can't say enough about Ricks Plumbing. Had a non-emergency issue with a slightly leaking valve in the basement. Never having any plumbing issues I checked Yelp for local plumbers. Made an online request and received a call within an hour scheduling a same day appt. Danny arrived within the designated time, was professional, courteous and gave me feedback on the issue. Instead of replacing the entire valve as I thought might happen, he fixed the issue on the existing valve, leaving me with the minimal payment. Payment was completed right there with electronic receipts. You can also give checks or cash but I prefer to keep records on my credit card. Pricing is competitive but I never go for the lowest price. I took his card and bookmarked their website. Will definitely use again and highly recommend read more

Mike from Rick's came as soon as he could, which was 7am in the morning the day after our clogged pipe. He was very thorough, professional and courteous. Took 2.5 hours trying to snake the pipe! In the end, Zach and another guy came back the following day to replace the pipes. That's super fast, given most plumbers would need to order parts and coordinate with a contractor to get the stuff installed. Thaat would usually take a week! Great job! Very happy! Oh yeah, and upon final review of the job, the worker asked Rick "What should we do about payment. Rick said, "we'll worry about that later, let's just finish the job." I imagine they will bill me through the mail, but it was nice that the money wasn't the first concern! read more

I contacted RIck's Plumbing Service after a Google search for a leaking toilet. I suspected a worn out wax seal. I made an appointment for the following day. My technician Tarif was 10 minutes early, exteremly professional and highly competent. The problem was actually more complex because the flange had rusted and needed to be replaced as well. Tarif was well prepared with all the necessary parts and tools and completed the repairs in a timely fashion. It cost more than I was expecting but plumbers are expensive and this required additional time and parts so it was very reasonable. I would certainly recommend Rick's and plan to use them in the future if the need arises. read more

Very happy with the service from Ricks. Needed a gas stove install done in a short period of time. Got a prompt call back from their office same day and an appointment was scheduled for the next morning, early. Pete the very courteous tech came out, provided a quote for the install and was equipped to do the install right then. Price was similar to local competitor. Be aware. Rick's Plumbing charges $75 just for an estimate! They do not give free estimates. Not cool at all. Yes, they will waive that fee if I have them do the work right on the spot, but how does that help me bid out work? I called about bringing gas into the house. So... they can just do that job "on the spot"? The receptionist was very nice and was uncomfortable and apologetic when telling me about the $75. Seems she doesn't agree with it either. read more

SKY HIGH PRICES!!! I was visiting my parents (I live in FLA) and I called on a Friday morning to have a leaky handle in my parents house shower looked at. this was not an emergency, but they found time to come out later that afternoon. the first call I received from them, the guy said "WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!". there are other ways to deliver that message to a customer, and the message didn't seem that awful. I ASKED for a price/estimate and he said that he had NO IDEA what it would be? at this point I was very concerned since he had the handle completely removed. He said that he had to find the replacement part which we told him which store to find it. he returned 5 days later and said that he had the part in hand and ready to install. the price to install was 650.00. FOR A FREGGIN SHOW HANDLE!!!! I said to him, sounds kind of high don't you think? he stated that he had to find the replacement part, and there was a lot of running around he had to do. so when he finally has the part in hand, that's when he hits me with the cost, and if I said NO at that point, the cost would still have been the same. so his first visit included 30 minutes of work and the install included 30 more minutes of work and the replacement piece cost $100.00 which I did not get a copy of the receipt yet, I WAS CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL +$400.00 FOR HIM TO "FIND" THE REPLACEMENT PART. since I was back in Florida, I felt I had no choice but to pay. Had Scott from Rick's come out to change a kitchen faucet and examine a leaky bathroom sink. The service was great -- he identified a potential problem with the garbage disposal but was able to fix it creatively, and didn't charge for looking at the bathroom sink because the porcelain was broken and unfixable. The only down side is that despite other reviews saying their prices were reasonable, they charged $250 for installation of the kitchen faucet, which seemed high to me. When I had called for the appointment, they said it would be $75 for the service call that would be waived upon purchase of the service. They told me they couldn't estimate how much installation of a kitchen faucet would be, but I was estimating around $100-$150 -- perhaps that was naive. Scott was able to tell me as soon as he arrived that it was $250 (before he even noticed the garbage disposal issue), suggesting that was a standard price for kitchen faucet installation. Had I known the $250 price from the start, I might have tried to find someone a bit cheaper who still does good work. read more
