Superior Mechanical installed my old Amana AC around 20 years, but they were acquired by Tri City, so I've been using them to service my AC for at least the past 10 years. I've always been happy with their service as their technicians are thorough and honest, so I decided to use them for installing a new AC last week. The salesperson, Cliff, was very responsive throughout the pre-install process and explained everything clearly. The company showed up at the scheduled appointment times for pre-install and install. The installation team, Oscar and Lou, did a nice job removing the old equipment and installing the new AC and air handler. They're very polite and courteous guys. They gave me plenty of time to review their work and test the equipment upon completion of the installation. Never felt rushed throughout the entire process. Highly recommend this company. read more

I found that since I didn't take the monthly rip-off service contract, that a visit would cost $400 just for the diagnosis. Update: Disappointed and hard to come back from this after being a customer since 2010 Took almost 1.5 weeks to complete a valve replacement. The 3-way valve went bad on a Navien tankless water heater in our rental. Leaving the tenants with no hot water and no heat (luckily heat just for 24hrs). Paid $200 for an emergency visit after hours. Valve was not in stock and had to be ordered. Part took 3 days to deliver, install appointment was not booked till the part was arrived. No available installation times till 4 days out. Install day came and the OLD o-ring ripped during installation, with no suitable o-rings to use the tenants had no heat or hot water still. Being the end of the day, one had to be sourced the next day or ordered. No luck locally so it was overnighted, another day lost. Part finally came and installed. $900 or so later, about 1.5 weeks and applying rent credit to cover tenants inconvenience. A simple, even out of stock part should be overnighted. Or at the very least utilize tracking to pre-book the install date PLUS order the necessary wearable items that will need to be replaced. O-rings should NOT be reused. Lots of inconveniences, time lost and money spent. I requested a call back from a manager to discuss how to prevent future issues. Days later no call back. Thanks for the customer support. This company is a scam. They partner with brands like Jenn-Air, if your appliance is under warranty. Jenn-Air says it's warrantied, no charge for Tri City to fix. Then Tri City will call you and tell you it's not warrantied, and you have to pay full price for repair. I've gone back and forth with them several times, they refuse to fix appliance without payment, even though it's under warranty. Stay away from this place! read more

I found Cliff through Costco. He is very knowledgeable and nice. He educated me on a great heat pump system (hey, heat pumps are not quite ready for prime time especially in an area that can go below 20°F). He also quoted me on an oil boiler. Costco incentives helped bring the cost down. read more

They overpromise and underdeliver!! Their business model is quoting short delivery times to get the job, starting the job, and then dropping the ball on their customers. The sales team quoted us a 4-day job to update our AC system. The job was supposed to be done by May 18, 2024. The technicians showed up for 2 days and disappeared. The job was not done by May 18. We had to leave town for a week on May 19. While we were gone, our dog 'sitter informed us that there was no hot water. It turned out that the installation was done wrong and had to be redone. After our return, the technicians would occasionally show up, but as of today, July 22, 2024, the job still needs to be completed. We complained bitterly to Seamus, the son, who acted apologetically but nothing changed. Do not hire this company! read more

Tri-City sold and installed a Buderus Logamax Plus GP142 in our house. There are seven zones in the house. There were problems right away with the install. Some of the zones did not heat at all and some zones had very little heat and some zones took hours to start producing heat. After a lot of explaining and back and forth, they sent another tech to fix the problem. He said the system was not piped correctly and he re-piped a good portion of the install. After he left six zones worked well and one zone still had a delay before it started producing heat. Oh well... good enough. However the joints of re-piped portion were all loose and leaky and over the years started rusting away. Also, the last service tech left the bleeder valve open and water leaked onto the boiler heat exchange and rusted it badly. Then we had to replace the condensate pump. Now, the boiler is dead and it appears to be a blown fan assembly. I called and asked for an estimate and they refused to give it over the phone and want approx 170 for a tech to come out and give me an estimate. (Note, we already know what is wrong with the unit and just want a price to make the repair.) The boiler was installed in 2009 and has had periodic service and was lightly used. For eight years no one was living in the house and the temperature was set at 50. I'm uploading pictures of the re-piped section of the install, so you can see what your system will look like in time after they depart the initial install. The boiler itself is a marvel of engineering and we expected it to run as it looked, however, because of a poor install it has been more unreliable and troublesome than any of the other three cheaper and less sophisticated boilers we have had. As a leveling comment, their techs seem to vary greatly in skill and this is just one install. Despite being a sample of just one, the impact for our family was quite negative. You are throwing a dart with this company while your family is standing around the dartboard. My rating for Tri-City: one quarter star. The worst part is I chose them for the install. Rating for myself: 0 stars. Pictures: The first picture is a close up of part of the repipe job. Both fittings from the boiler are leaking and rusting components below including the pressure gauge and the main circulator. The second picture is encompasses most of the repipe work and you can see most of the joints are leaking and rusting. The fourth picture shows how they drilled a hole in the side of the dishwasher drain and stuck the condensate pump hose in. Of course that leaks every time the dishwasher drains. I had an issue with my dryer, that turned out to be electrical and not related to the dryer itself. I had them come out and do diagnostic on the dryer. They charge me $170 to do the diagnostic, which discovered it was an electrical issue. However the technician left something unplugged inside the dryer, which rendered my dryer useless after I got the electrical issue fixed. I then had to have another person open up the dryer, only to discover unplugged parts inside. If you ask me, you shouldn't leave things worst off then when you started. I did complain. I have had several appliances repaired by Tri-City including a Jenn Air range, a Maytag dryer, and a kitchen refrigerator and garage refrigerator, both Whirlpool. In each case, the service tech showed up promptly and provided a quote of the work that needed to be done and the cost of parts and labor. If one decides to not proceed or if it can't be replaced there is a service fee to come out instead. If the repair exceeds 25% of the replacement value, the tech goes over the options Based on my records, each time the repair was done within 5-7 business days or so, the price was much less than to replace, and it was done well with a 90-day warranty included (some exclusions apply). This has allowed us to keep these appliances 5-10 extra years and still counting. The one time I didn't use them was when my Maytag dryer finally gave out - I'm replacing it because it's 20 years old and parts are no longer made for it. Make sure to find out what brands they are servicing as they have limited it to a handful including Whirlpool, Amana, Jenn Air, and Maytag. read more

He beat out his competition by a massive margin and were able to install ahead of schedule. The installation team was also very professional. Came out once to check/replace a pump for the heating unit. Fast response and on time. Kind and courteous techs. Little pricey for "diagnosis visit" as well as labor and parts. Second visit for Hvac not cooling and upon visit was told it needed a very expensive and a "not guaranteed to work repair or replace entire unit". Got a second opinion and have a working HVAC for a fraction of the original Tri-City quote, and a repair that wasn't even suggested. Dissatisfied. Returned home Sunday afternoon to find my central air conditioning unit not working. Called TriCity first thing Monday morning and they scheduled an appointment for me mid-day Tuesday. The appointment was scheduled for the hours between 12-6. They informed me the Technician would call @30 minutes prior to arriving. The call came in around 11:45am, the Technician was in my driveway at 12:20pm. The Technician went through everything he was going to do, performed his tasks and gave me a complete recap with explanation. I could have not asked for better service. We went with this company because the previous owner of our house had used them. We had no issues the first time we called them out for a minor issue, and decided to sign a 1-year service contract with them. They called in February or March to set up an appointment to service the A/C, which I had thought was oddly early in the season. The appointment was made for late March. They were unable to make the five hour window, saying they'd be there around 3:00 (window was 8:00 to 1:00). I couldn't do it, so we rescheduled. One day wasted at home. The next time, they made it just before the window ended...but proceeded to inform me that they were using a new technique to service A/C and for certain units, it has to be at least 60 degrees outside. Guess what? That was the case with mine. Two days wasted at home. We made a third appointment and luckily it was warm enough to get the A/C serviced. I have no complaints regarding Kyle, the individual who came each time, or his work. The disorganization of the company, and rudeness of the woman I had to deal with on the phone, was enough to turn me off. One more thing - the woman who booked the appointments assured me each time that I would be given a half hour notice prior to a service person showing up...and each time he said he'd be there in 5 minutes. With a 5 hour window, that's kind of ridiculous (to his credit, when I complained about that to Kyle, he did say he could give me a little more time if I needed it). Do not trust TriCity HVAC. I had them come out to look at my Central Air Conditioner since it was not working. I realized that the power to the compressor was off in the attic after they arrived. So, I paid the $146 diagnostic fee, but the tech told me that I needed to replace my AC unit since it was not performing well and was on its last leg. A new unit would be $10K , but he said he can replace the contactor and capacitor for $800 to get me by. I had replaced these myself and paid $35 for the components. This was in 2009 and have never had any issues with my system. A friend had checked the refrigerant pressure last year and told me that TriCity has had a very dishonest reputation for years. read more

Being relatively new to homeownership, we would have been lost without Seamus when our hot water went out. He was able to get a tech out the next day. Not only was the issue fixed, but they brought us up to code as the previous owners did not have a water valve installed. They came back again for adjustments, to increase the heat of the water particularly in my shower and I haven't had any issues since then. Reasonably priced. Bought a new house and had these guys come over for their 'energy consult' that they offered. Replaced some bulbs and gave us some options to improve the heating/energy efficiency of our home. No problem, seemed like competent guys. A few months later, we had some issues with our oil-fired water heater. They came out and changed a filter and monkeyed around with it for a while to the tune of about $400. A week later, the problem re-surfaced so we called them back. This tech said they basically have no idea what is wrong and that we should call another company. What? Your first guy charges us, and the next guy basically says what the first guy did was pointless as they don't know the system? Also got charged for the second visit even though they did nothing. We called the 'other' company (Standard Oil) who immediately diagnosed the problem, got the replacement part, charged us less than $100 to fix it, and we haven't had a problem since. Avoid Tri-City - they talk a good game, but when it came to crunch time they basically ripped us off. read more

Do not use this company! I have used Tri City for over 20 years and around 15 years ago I purchased a Trane furnace that cost approximately $14,000. At the time it was sold as the most reliable system in the industry the Rolls-Royce "" (I am now told that the system you installed of 140 000 BTU is way to big for my space and should've been 100,000 BTU) Over all these years I had exclusively used Tri city office to do maintenance as well as any repair. I was guaranteed 10 years of warrantee. In the 11th year after the warranty expired the system had significant problems costing over $1000 including a new damper new thermostats something that was difficult to understand why would thermostats go bad after 10 years I had to replace a downstairs damper also a few years ago. I continued to have problems with the system and last year I was told by your service manager that's probably a cracked pipe and the unit would have to be replace!!!! Stating systems don't last these days! I was loosing confidence in Tri city so I had my service person who handles my rentals come to meet him to review replacing the unit. I was advised that instead of replacing the entire unit which was the recommendation that we would replace a switch that determines shut off when the unit gets too hot which cost me another $300. If this worked then there are no cracks. But again although it was installed this did not solve the heat problem however it was clear I did not have a crack in the system. Luckly I had my experienced technician to fully evaluate it . Approximately a month and a half later I had no heat again. I sent the 1st picture damper is closed to my technician on a Sunday per attached . Damper was closed . Please also not the position of the electrical wires.He was not able to help me on the phone. The next day Tri City came out. Specifically I required your top technician because my prior experience has been that your technicians don't actually understand the problem they trouble shoot and are wrong most of the time. You can also see from the work ticket that your group indicated it could be electrical(which they changed the wires) see picture damper open wires changed damper is now open On this final visit it was said that I needed a new damper for the first floor that I had already replaced and a damper for upstairs. I need to now replace the damper that I replaced several years ago!!!!. I was frustrated even now with your top technician .I told him to only replace the hall but left with no further word from anyone! Then I had a competent company come out they identified the problem that there was no problem on the first floor!!!! My new heating and cooling group took out the damper to show me there is a problem with the damper in my bedroom and hall .Nothing to do with the down stairs . My person came in he said this adjustment of wire that had been in the wrong place was why the turn off of heat had occurred. He also replaced 2 dampers the one in my bed room and hall.NOT the one down stairs !!!!!! That I was asked to replace and spend more money by Tri City !!!! The damper for the downstairs worked perfectly and is still working perfectly but there was an electrical issue caused by Tri city which caused all the NO HEAT. This seems a bit like déjà vu with my other appliance about four years ago when you had me replace the motherboard of my oven which took months to get and replace.In the end it was the hinge on the door that was identified by a different company so I went through all your unnecessary expense and inconvenience without a proper evaluation from Tri City I wrote you because this is often been my experience with Tri city.There is a clear pattern here through the unnecessary purchase of the motherboard of my oven through the inability to diagnose the trane system that you're trained people have costed me thousands In summary Years ago you replaced a mother board on my oven that did not need to be replaced A restart bottom that was not needed was purchased instead of buying a new furnace A down stairs damper was wrongly recommend Many service calls unnecessary because it was an electrical issue caused by your company I would like a refund of $1000 for all the trouble you have caused me and the inabiity to diagnose my heat and appliance which caused me thousands of dollars.Luckily I have resources who are better than you. If I could give this company a zero I would. I have a rental house in Milford and chose them because they were one of the contractors for Costco. They came out the next day, curious right in the beginning of cooling season. The technician charged me almost $1,000 for putting 3 lb of freon in one of the two systems promising to come back and check for a leak which he never did. The other unit he let Freon out of claiming that it was overcharged. The unit subsequently failed and I had to replace it. I did not call them back because of the first rip off. The technician incidentally made me wait there to pay him before he left. I have always been billed by companies I dealt with in the past even replacing one of the whole systems. Our Trane central air was installed 11 years ago by Everest, which merged into Tri-City. One year after the 10-year extended warranty ran out, the capacitors burned out - for the THIRD time - from rodent infestation (seems the outdoor unit could not be better designed to serve as a mouse nest). This time, Tri-City tells me the unit is not repairable, quotes an outrageous amount to replace it, with no allowance for the fact that the extended warranty ran out barely a year ago - or, that the recurring problem could have been prevented (which I've learned elsewhere). I had another HVAC contractor look at the unit. He was able to diagnose and repair it at a quite reasonable cost the next day, in well under an hour. Very very disappointed. Not only did they try to sell me a major system replacement instead of a minor repair, but they didn't stand behind their product or service. And don't even get me started on the time they damaged the float switch in my attic, didn't bother to address a clogged/improperly installed drain line, and caused major damage to bedrooms (and no, they didn't handle that situation well, either). I hired them to service my central air unit which they had sold me and installed 13 years ago. They came out and said I needed four lbs. of refrigerant and that that was an indication that there is a leak. They came back to run a dye test to locate the leak in the system. They did the test and said that I needed a new coil and quoted me over $4,000 to replace it. The work that was done up to this point cost $881.00. I was advised by the technician to consider replacing the entire system, telling me that, at 13 years old, it had reached the end of its life expectancy and it was highly recommended that I replace it. Within minutes, the office called me to set up an appointment with a sales rep to get a quote on a new unit. The one I have now cost $17,000 when I bought it 13 years ago, so I imagine a new unit would be much more than that. Rather than move ahead with pricing out a new unit, I decided to get a second opinion. The company that came out checked out the unit and told me that 13 years old is nowhere near the end of life for the unit and that I had paid $322 for refrigerant that cost Tri-City about $20 - $30. They checked the refrigerant level and found it was pretty much full. (I don't know if the amount added by Tri-City brought the level to full, but this provided a baseline for tracking the severity of the leak.) I ran the unit normally for about five weeks and the second company came back out to check the level to see if there was leakage. There was none. I will have it checked in the Spring to see if there has been continued leakage, because the unit does not have to run for it to leak. Total cost for two service calls by the second company was $150.00. So, I paid an exorbitant amount for the services provided by Tri-City for service on my current unit, especially for materials (refrigerant). Replacement of the coil seemed to be overly expensive, but I don't honestly know if they were gouging me on that or not. But worst of all they attempted to sell me a new unit when I clearly did not need one. I am extremely disappointed with them and feel that they were not honest with me. read more

Our 7 year old refrigerator stopped cooling and, after the big box appliance service company couldn't schedule me for 7 days I called TriCity. They gave me an appointment 3 days out but put me on standby and offered me not one but two sooner appointments. Our tech, Steve, arrived on time, donned paper booties before coming into the house, and immediately id'd our problem. He instantly ordered a part from his tablet and made a follow up appointment. ZERO stars. Came out to fix our dryer. It's under Maytag warranty so that's who they chose to service the dryer. First appt he said it was a switch and they'd have to order it. Wait 2 weeks, he comes back says the part they received was faulty. I see the service request and now there's 3 parts they're ordering instead of just the switch. Ok, whatever. 3rd appt was 2 weeks out and they rescheduled because of snow. Ok, whatever. They come out for the 4th time and he refused to come down our driveway. I told him the top of driveway (our driveway is not super long) is flat and you can walk down. He refused. My husband salts and plows for a living In the winter. My son was able to drive his powerwheels up and down driveway. Not to mention before he even drove here, he called to reschedule and I told him he could park at the end of the driveway no problem. He also refused to park on the side of the road. I told him we're the last house on a dead end. No one drives down here. He just wanted to waste an hour to drive here. Now I'm calling the office and even tho it's within their hours, theres a recording that they're closed. So now I will probably have to wait yet another 2 weeks I'm assuming for another appt. FIRE!! Terrible unsafe experience with my commercial range repair in my home kitchen. I called Kitchen Aid with problem and they referred me to Tri City. TC came out, installed blower motor part, didn't fix problem, it now needed a circuit board as well. 2 weeks later they install circuit board. They then start oven, big spark, FIRE in the oven, smoke throughout house!! I need a fire extinguisher to put out fire before it caught the house on fire. The range is now fried and can't be repaired. What was a $500 repair is now a $7000 range replacement. They leave the house after clean up and state they will call me next day for a resolution. Tri City never called and will not return my many phone calls. They said "deal with Kitchen Aid". They literally set the stove on fire, destroyed it, walked away and left me to deal with it. Had a repair guy out to our house by the name of Ryan C. to fix washing machine and then the dishwasher from Tri-City Appliance after calling whirlpool. Right away he was full of excuses, he showed no effort in diagnosing the issue on the washer. He was just plain LAZY! He didn't even bother to pull the washer from the wall to see if something was loose back there. Granted the machine is heavy, but that's your job. It's not as if it's a bus. Both pieces of equipment are brand new. He had an idiotic excuse for everything. It was clear he did not want to be there. He was complaining and then subsequently said he would have to come back another time. Then he was led upstairs to the dishwasher where I told him that it did not dry and they came out with puddles of water. His response to that was right away was that I needed to use a rinsing agent. Whatt? All the rinsing agent in the world could not prevent the amounts of water that was coming out. Every issue is not the same. He did not even bother to have a look. That was his answer. He had the nerve to scream at me as he was walking out the door not to call them again. I told him he didn't know what he was doing anyway. First of all your company is contracted by Whirlpool which is where I purchased my machine. I most certainly don't want you and your ignorance and incompetence back here. I have never written a bad review until now. Long story short was given an appointment through whirlpool and was told one price and then charged another twice as much before job was even done. Then told different times of when they would be back to fix it. When my husband called they would not make good on price and appointment and hung up on us. Had to call whirlpool to get refund. read more
