Drove around for an hour trying to find a place to re-spool my son's bait caster. We're from out of town and finally found Rick's. It was 20 min before they closed and the guy working refused to help. He was incredibly and unnecessarily rude to me and my son. It would have taken him less than 10 minutes to help us but he cared more about closing the store than being a decent human. Do not give this company your business! read more

Prices are pretty reasonable. Bait was lively. Guy working today could be a bit more chipper. Treating customers as if they're a burden when it's a fairly straightforward transaction isn't exactly the best way to keep a small business going, especially when there is another bait shop down the road that is very friendly and offers a huge fishing selection. Or another shop two roads north that has probably the best live bait selection in Duval county. I might be back. I don't recommend to anyone if this is a regular way they treat folks. read more

Rick and his shop are excellent. This little treasure of a store has so much more quality items than the giant soulless sporting goods shop. I've spent so much time in those big stores and never found anything or anyone to help. Rick was very helpful giving great advice to an inexperienced fisherman like myself. We ended up buying a new pole, hooks and weights. I still didn't catch anything but I will definitely be visiting Rick again sooner than later. read more

Went Fishing and Crabbing over at the Marina where you can find Ricks Bait & Tackle. Nice little shop that has fresh bait, minnows, worms with reasonable prices. The gentleman working in the shop are both helpful and entertaining. They have a good selection of lures, bait, tackle, and gear for a mom and pop shop. #keepsmallbusinessesgoing Stopped in for some fresh refrigerated shrimp for fishing. Asked about the fishing and was given recommendations on which bait was the best to catch the big ones with. Parking is tight. However there are side streets that you can use to make that quick pit stop in this good old shop. read more

It's hard to find a baitshop where the employees arent complete a**holes. Being new to the area and having never fished there I naturally had a few questions and they were able to guide me and put me on to some fish. The place you go When its early morning and you need bait. They have live, dead, and frozen bait. Also a decent amount of hand tied rigs and tackle. The workers were also exceptional and provided great intel. They seemed happy to be there and it was 0530 on a weekend. read more

Wow these are some cool guys! I have not fished since I was 8 years old! But since the corona virus I decided to pick up a hobby so I purchased a pole even though I didn't know what type of fish I was gonna catch or the type of bait I needed or how to even cast but I ended up going to ricks bait & tackle for some bait and them guys hooked me up!!! They even put my rod together for me, got me some shrimp bait and they even gave me a crash course on how to cast! Thanks to them I was able to catch my first fish!!! Rick's is the real deal. It's an old wooden building tucked away behind a marina. The patrons and workers are salty old fishermen. Kind of like Gorton's fishermen without yellow coats. They can tell you anything you would need to know about fishing locally, and have great prices on bait. It can be a little hard to find, but you basically go over the ditch on Beach Blvd. and take a left at the first light. Drive past the sheet metal buildings and look for the Christmas lights on the left. There's about 4 parking spaces. It's hidden. You might not find as big of a selection as you would at a mega-sporting goods store, but the experience is way better here. I'm not saying you will catch more fish if you buy bait here...but I'm not saying you won't. read more

We typically buy 4-5 dozen shrimp, when realistically they only put 2-3 dozen in the bucket. After saying something, the lady at the register got defensive and said we were lucky to have the amount we did. I'm a nice guy, don't complain, but they need to pay attention to their customers more. I've never met Rick but I hope he realizes the failures of his employees. read more

Been going to Rick's for bait at least once a week spending $20-40 a visit the past two years and i will never go back after today!! Dropped off a penn reel for repair and some new braid , 4 weeks later i get a call to come get it. His rude wife at the counter tells me $50 for 330yrds of braid ( which was the wrong kind anyway ) and the tune up. My reel only holds 200 yards and it was still grinding . He tells me the reel is worn out and new gears would be $45, but he could order me the same reel on close out for $25. I ask him why he spooled it if its worn out ? His wife began raising her voice and argueeing with me, so i left the reel on the counter and told them to keep it and i would take my bisiness else where. They didn't seem to mind loosing a customer . read more
