I spend my nights at open mics trying to find the punchline in everything that goes wrong in life. I am literally wired to complain. So, when I tell you that this BBQ pork is fire, you know it's real. Rico Food Express didn't pay me a dime--they just made food so good it temporarily cured my cynicism. There was enough food in my combo to feed three people: me, myself, and I. And, since I'm being honest here, I did have one complaint. The egg roll was a bit overcooked and tasted a bit burnt, but that's okay because the egg roll was extra. That's what I get for asking for more than usual. You have to try Rico Food Express. food is very delicious, I used to be a regular there but after what happened today.. yeah they just lost a loyal costumer. I arrived at 7:18pm and all tables are occupied..I told her we could wait and she said yes. 7:32 hits and they told us that we would no longer eat inside. I totally get that they close the tables inside at 7:30 but why make us wait and give us the green light that we can ACTUALLY eat inside. we politely stood up and left the restaurant. Amazing place! This restaurant recently opened, taking over the location where two separate donut shops had once been. Although it's a small location, it offers a lot to fill your appetite. The staff was very friendly when seating us, taking our order, and while paying. We ordered a little of everything off the menu: soups, appetizers, vegetable plates, chicken plates and combination plates with many sides and entrees. Everything was good; in fact I believe it tops all other locations in the area. I should also mention that the portions are large. A single combination plate can easily feed two adults. Holy Smokes! We did not expect some of the BEST Asian food we've ever had while driving through El Centro, CA, while on a road trip. Don't let the looks of the place fool you- this is NOT fast food. Portions are robust so we had extra meals to take home. Highly recommend the salt & pepper chicken and the grilled chicken lunch entrees. Will definitely go back. read more

Wow. Came here with high hopes and got let down. I asked the waitress which plate was spicy and the crunchiest. She said try the sese chicken and get it extra crispy. I did and it was a disaster. It came in a pool of orange syrup, it was all sugar no spice. Big chunks of chicken no crisp. I had to spit out the bone I chewed on and on another bite I had to spit out the cartilage. I also ordered the rolls. Crispy out the outside but gooey and flavorless on the outside. Needless to say I couldn't finish the meal. I left it all there after a few bites. read more

Since this place opened I've been coming regularly. The food is very tasty, portions are more than sufficient, and staff is very professional. We were in the mood for Chinese food and remembered this place had just opened up. As we walked in we were greeted by a server that sat us and took our drink order. They have taken the time to repaint, remodel and decorate the place which was pleasing to the eye. The dining area is small about maybe 30 max. The menu is pretty much what you would find here in the Imperial Valley, I didn't notice anything different that the other Chinese food restaurants didn't already serve. From the time we receive our drinks to the time the plates of food started coming out was about 5 - 7 minutes. The food had a fresh taste to it and not as if it were sitting around under a heat lamp or as if it were from yesterday. I was impressed to find not all of the food was drowned in oil, especially the salt and pepper fish. It wasn't over battered and each piece was very flavorful and meaty. The orange chicken was not overly sweet and had a little bit of a spice to it. The servers we very polite and not over attentive. We will definitely be visiting again to try the other options. read more
