This local spot was happening! When we went on Saturday afternoon, there were half a dozen people in line waiting to order and even more waiting for their food! There is a separate line for the pastries but it turns out I could order pastry from the food line also. You just have to know what you want... Pastelitos De Guayaba! We also order Cuban sandwiches and a colada! Who can resist a large cup filled to the brim with amazing Cuban coffee? Not I! It had a beautiful crema and an amazing smooth flavor. I'll probably be awake for days but it was worth it. We wanted to try something we hadn't had before so we got quesitos which turned out to be cheese pastries. They are tasty and filling and I'm totally sure they are good for you too. Really. Located on W. Waters Ave. east of Himes this bakery has been around for ages. A wide assortment of cakes and pastries fill the shelfs but most people come for coffee and breakfast or for a lunch sandwich. Of course, there is also fresh bread. My attraction is that they will make for me a childhood favorite, Mayorca a la Bonbonera. It's the Mayorca pastry sliced, buttered and pressed, then topped with powdered sugar. I love it with a cup of Cafe con Leche. In a strip center, parking in front, it is a quick and convenient stop for a tasty treat, breakfast, lunch or a party cake. They have bulk pre-wrapped goodies to choose from for the office or home. I always leave with a smile and a warm fuzzy feeling. read more

Hands-down, the best guava, pastries, and midnight sandwiches I have ever had in my life. It's in a strip shopping center with an old beat up parking lot, and it's got metal bars on the doors. I'm not even sure if they have a place to sit. Most people I know just get the stuff to go. My godparents would have a big old table of guava pastries. Whenever my dad and I would come down from North Carolina. I'm happy to report that Tampa Cuban service is not the screw you attitude like Miami cuban services. They're a bit more chill here kinda like Tampa in general when compared to Miami. And I have been to many Cuban places in Miami and I still think these are the best sandwiches and pastries I've had in my life. Do I really have to say anything about the ambience? This spot was great when it was just Florida Bakery, but since Mailkel's took them over the food is not the same, even the pastries are mass produced so it doesn't have that mom and Pop taste. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was not tasty. The bread was terrible. The ingredients put in we're not fresh. I just wonder how you can F up a Cuban sandwich especially when you're a Cuban bakery. I tried the guava pastry and it all seems mass produced and not tasty at all. I ordered through Uber eats. The only part that was good, was the Cuban coffee. The Cuban bread with Swiss cheese was disgusting & full of oil. The bread was horribly hard & stale. The sandwich was melted into the paper, so I had to keep ripping paper off of it. Half was cheese, half was just stale bread & butter, no cheese!! The half missing the cheese, had aluminum foil baked into it, as if it was someone's leftovers thrown in!!Threw the whole thing in the garbage! The churros were stale & hard & cold. The oil they were cooked in was disgustingly old. Basically only had coffee because I had to throw the churros away as well. WTH is wrong with this place!! Thumbs down & never again!! Seriously angry at this place! And I'll bet they never clean their coffee maker. ! read more

Oh my... I am a huge fan of their guava pastries (pastelillos)! My husband has been buying them for me on the days that I go to my chemotherapy infusions. He knows what I like, and these are exactly like the ones I used to get at a bakery called Gilbert's in Miami. These guava delights are the real deal! We gave some to my Puerto Rican mother who loves them as well. I'm only giving them 4 stars right now because this is the only pastry I've had the pleasure of tasting. I will update this review once I get to sample more of their Cuban baked items. I'm looking forward to trying their éclairs with the clear caramel coating that I've read about in a previous review. That's another pastry that I miss from my hometown of Miami. I'm also hoping that they make pastelillos de mango as well. **Update** The éclairs were very similar to ones I've had in Miami. It had lots of that yummy pastry cream filling that I love. If I had to say one negative thing, it would have to be that the caramel glaze was a little too thick. I'm used to a thin coating of glaze. I'll still continue to order them because these are the real deal. The coconut pastries were also very good. Think of the inside of a Mounds candy bar, only this filling is better. I still prefer the guava and mango versions better. Also, please keep in mind that the primary language here is Spanish. My husband gets around that somehow because he knows just enough to get by. The bakery is located in a neighborhood that is very similar to Little Havana in Miami. All the local clientele are fluent in Spanish. Again, it reminds me of Miami. Love it! read more

When we got there, there was 3 ladies talking to 1 customer. They were speaking in Spanish and make us wait. I dont know what they were talking about but we stand there for 10 minutes while they just talk and laugh. Then after that another Mexican customer came in and they just went to serve him, skipping us. Like really!!! After that they serve us and rush us. They keep asking "anything else, anything else". Besides the poor rude customer service, they bakery is not all that. Next time if you have customers from a different nationally in your shop, consider speaking English and serve your customers base on who show up first. I will not go back after how I was treated. Florida bakery use to be the go to spot, im not sure what has happened though. Growing up, we have always stopped here for fresh and delicious pastries. My husband and I came yesterday for some pastries and the selection was terrible. They had 2 whole cases missing stuff and what was available was just the typical stuff that every other bakery had. We ended up only getting 2 guava and cheese and ordered 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, the guava and cheese were just ok but the sandwiches were pretty good. I wouldn't go back for anything though. The staff are nice but this isn't the Tampa spot anymore. read more

Beware that once you enter, you will reek of the grease smell (similar to Denny's) for the rest of the day. We were looking for a place to for pastries to bring back home for the in-laws. Our cousins told us to come here plus they have great coffee. Although I don't drink coffee, they had a variety of pastries that look so delicious. I pointed out a couple of interesting items but the lady didn't speak english. Our fifth stop on our bakery tour was Florida Bakery. This was not originally on our plan, but a buddy pointed it out, so we had to stop. This is an old Cuban bakery that has a ton of offerings including sandwiches. They had a small counter and a few stools inside to sit at and enjoy your food. I ended up ordering some rice pudding, a bun with chorizo inside, and a salami sandwich. The prices were very reasonable and the service was friendly. I was getting pretty stuffed at this point, but they had quite a few sandwiches that I plan on trying on a return visit. Overall, a cool spot that I look forward to revisiting. You could try something new every week here and not run out of new options. Huge selection. read more

Next, once the one of the ladies took our order, she charged us extra. When I asked why so much? She rolled her eyes and had to apologize because she charged us for something I DID NOT ORDER. Finally, as a person of color I can hear them babble about just us being there. I did not like the service. I guess you have to be Cuban to be treated with fairness and politeness. The croquette and empanada were okay. I really liked the guava pie. Unfortunately I got sick a few hours later I ate them. Considering I ate nothing else that day and I was not ill before eating them, I am pretty sure I got sick from this place. We have had several good experiences here but recently I am very disappointed. We had a family reunion/Bday. The cake we ordered was not editable. We were an hour from the bakery and the next day was Sunday. We discussed to keep it and take it back (effort.time.gas) or trash it and tell them in hopes they would do the right thing. We trashed it and called to let them know. They will not do anything due to us not returning it for them to taste. My SIL has asked to speak with the owner to no avail and she has left messages and the owner has not returned the call. read more

As far as Latin bakeries go, this one is my family's favorite. I have been visiting this place since I was a child and the taste continues to be superior to other Latin bakeries in the area. Their cakes are the best, and it's what I always request for my birthday. Moist with natilla in the middle! Whaaaaaaat!! Besides pastries, though, they now serve sandwiches and batidos (fruit shakes), which are absolutely delicious. My favorite is the crispy chicken sandwich. It's messy but good! The place tends to be crowded and the wait area is a bit disorganized, so I like to call ahead to place my order for pick up. This is a real Cuban bakery, within real Cubans working inside and they don't call a pastelitos a turn overs, because that's not what they are. Best Cuban coffee and guava pastelitos in Tampa. This is coming from a Cuban/American raised in Miami, and the Cafecito is also the best I've tried so far. Bread is better than las segunda and other Cuban bakeries in Tampa. Okay, so this place was recommended by my sister's good friend and well I prolly have her to thank for the ensuing 5lbs. I think this is another place where my mug was the first chinese guy they've had walk in their doors. Nonetheless, Florida bakery Co. is fantastic. One of the great things about florida is there are some places you can go to and its like you are transported to another country. It is one of those places that the other patrons assume you speak spanish. The parking lot is always crazy full, but it's almost worth the ticket for double parking. The service is nice and helpful especially since I don't know what anything is called or how anything is pronounced (luckily my pointer finger is bilingual). Recently went with my mom and tia. Purchased some quesitos and a slice of Cuban style cake. The quesitos were good but the cake was dry, hard the merengue frosting was stale took one bite and tossed in the garbage.
