Ricos is around the corner from where I live. I have walked by this place a few times and never really gave it a thought to try until this morning. It's a great taqueria style cart with a great breakfast burrito. The amount of eggs to tortilla ratio was perfect. The burrito had good flavor and the chorizo was delicious. I think I tasted some sautéed onions in there and potatoes that were perfectly cooked. The price for it and the amount of food you get were on par. The salsa taste fresh and overall a great burrito to start my morning. It is also in a parking lot by a coffee house so you can go next door to grab a coffee and/or tea. The cart does sell bottle water and soda if that is your thing to drink in the morning. The cart also serves tacos and other lunch burritos so I will have to come back and try these items on their menu. They also offer catering and you can order ahead of time by calling or visiting their website. Finding this place was a happy accident. I was searching for burritos places in Portland and randomly found this place on Yelp. I decided to check out this place based on the five star reviews. When I came here, the location was kind of deserted since it was little too late for lunch. I went ahead and ordered the pollo burrito and cheese enchiladas. The cheese enchilada was the best I ever had. The toasted tortillas with the red color and cheese filling was amazing. The burrito was good too especially the rice. GO TO RICO'S!!!! Whether you're closeby or not, it's worth the trip!! My boyfriend and I stayed in Portland for a month and we had the great luck of Rico's being around the corner from us. We went 4-5 times a week (and were so sad on the weekends when it was closed, because we craved it then too!) and now we miss it dearly. Some of the best Mexican food we've ever had (and my boyfriend is Mexican + we live in LA which has excellent Mexican food), and hands down the best breakfast burritos we'd ever had. So fresh, wonderful prices, kind and hardworking owners, and food made with love and flavor. Flavor, quality and price! Usually you can pick 2, but at Rico's you get all three! This taquera sits in the parking area by Albina Press and the bodywork shop. On the weekend, the son is the counter man and parents cook up some tasty vittles. Family values! I had beef, pork and chorizo tacos. Plenty of carnivorous filling with fresh onion and one including fresh tomato along with cilantro, and your choice of about 6 hot sauces. They have vegie too - see the menu phots. I have to recommend the chorizo. It has a great smoky sun dried tomato-like flavor. This cart has special menu items day by day, and special prices some days that add up to a ridiculous deal. The smells emanating from the small window by the stove could be bottled and sold for a fortune. As of this writing, the $1.50 tacos are $1 on special Saturday and Monday! Eat there, though there is not a rain sheltered spot, except by the ordering area; take home, or eat in the 'hood. As we enter the food cart season, this pod may reestablish itself with more seating and shelter options. Rico's Burritos is a great cart that stands apart geographically and in quality. Fattest tacos in town keep me coming back for more! All 3 sauces/salsas are top notch. The guacamole salsa at no extra cost takes it up a notch, and both the salsa verde and salsa roja (chile de arbol) are spicy, but not overbearingly hot. Delicious carnitas burrito, pollo taco, and pollo combo plate Fresh food and hot tortillas too (I hate when your given barely warm tortillas) The mild salsa is truly mild (it is avocado base) and the medium salsa is mild in my opinion. Meat is tender and full of flavor. My husband and I will be back for sure and definitely getting extra beans and rice. The combo plate and burritos have incredible value for your buck. Met up with colleagues at a coffee shop next door when I noticed this food truck in the parking lot. None of us had eaten lunch and decided a few tacos were in order. Only a couple of tables with plastic chairs, but there were quite a few people milling around for their to go orders. Carnitas tacos? Excellent! Tasted like I was back in Southern California with fresh corn tortillas, marinated carnitas & cilantro and onions. They have 3 types of sauces ranging from medium hot to super hot. Not good. Got carne asada burrito and 3 different tacos. All of the meat is dry and very salty with little other flavor. Does not taste like Mexican food, everything tastes like a tortilla with (overly salty) ingredients. Salsa was good but not great and the lady was nice. One of my favorite carts in the neighborhood. Hidden in the parking lot next to Albina Press and the Mississippi Health Center. Yes, it is kind of run down and scary looking, but the burritos and tacos are delicious and reasonably-priced. The burritos are a little more rice-heavy than I'm used to, but it doesn't make a difference. Get the avocado or red salsa (the green is standard and I haven't braved the habanero one yet). Service is fast, because it's still kind of a secret. New favorite dine-out solution in the neighborhood is to grab burritos from Rico's and bring them to Bridgetown Beerhouse (or as we like to call it, "The Man Cave") or Tin Bucket. Tacos are better than Por Que No's, which isn't saying much, but not the best in town. Sweet tamales, oh my! read more

The Ricos crew are super-friendly, and they put out a great burrito at a very reasonable price. Why is this not the most highly rated and popular taco food truck in Portland?!?! We enjoyed the most authentic and mouthwatering Mexican food of our lives here. I ordered the fish and vegetarian tacos. Both were overfilled with goodness and accompanied with 4-5 different spicy sauces to chose from. My husband is obsessed with breakfast burritos and had the best (not to mention biggest) burrito of his life here, for only $4.50! My two filling tacos came to $3.50! The prices here are a steal! This place is walking distance from my work... I'm in trouble! Their tacos are so delicious, and the ladies that run the cart are super friendly and sweet. For my tacos, I had 2 carnitas and one pollo. Both were excellent, but I think the carnitas was definitely my favorite. Super moist pork, but they still managed to get some good crispy edges. Tacos are "street style" with cilantro and onions. They also serve them with a side of grilled onion, and some lime wedges. Salsas are on point, and I got the first serving of a freshly made batch of guacamole salsa. $1.50 a taco... I am excited to try more, especially their chile rellenos. This is THE ONLY spot for good authentic tacos in this part of Portland.(period) The carnitas are amazing, the carne asada is perfect and the pastor is great too. ($1.50) The burritos are in fact rico. Meat, awesome beans, rice, cilantro and onion in a nice soft tortilla that has been grilled on the outside for that extra touch. ($4.75!!!) If you're lucky there might be a special like barbacoa or pozole($3 for a whole bowl, ridiculous!). The chiles rellenos are tasty and nice to have on the menu in case you are trying to eat out with your friend who still thinks being vegetarian is cool. All of the delicious house made salsas will make you feel like you're in Mexico. Bottom line. I've eaten at every taco cart I know of in town, and this place is easily one of the best. Tried a chicken and a chorizo burrito. One burrito could probably feed four people and weighs as much as a baby. But I'd be happy with half as much, because it's all well seasoned and the ingredients are well cooked, so there was a nice crunch on things and it came out piping hot. But my favorite part was their habanero salsa! By far the best I've had in town. Super hot, delicious, and thick, not watered down like some are.
