My husband just recently paid $180 to get new tires and a tune-up on his bike. The FIRST day he commutes with it, the front tire blows almost causing his to flip over the handle bars!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS BIKE SHOP. He had to walk carrying the bike for 40 minutes, got a store on the drive to fix it - and they said he was given the wrong tire, and if it was an employee at their store, she would have fired them! It was a dangerous & amateur move. To top this off, when my husband brought his bike back into Ride On Again - they would not reimburse him (he had to pay $60 to get the tire replaced) and all they would do was give him 20 bucks. Not only is this unprofessional, but they put the wrong size tire on his bike. He could have been seriously injured and this company shrugged it off with a casual comment of "mistakes happen man" None of our friends, family or anyone who knows us will ever step foot in Ride On Again Bikes and neither should you! read more

A long time friend of mine ended up working as a mechanic there for 2 years and I got to know some of the staff pretty well but most of these guys including my friend do not work there anymore and I feel like a total stranger to the place even though I was a regular... In April I was in the market for a my first road bike. Immediately on showing up, I felt like one of my friends was helping me out, as the staff was very friendly and helpful. After settling on a few bikes in my price to test out, I rode off on my first road bike. Just over a month later, I was hit by a car while riding to work... Back I went to the shop I went. Since the bike was new, they had to order in parts to make the bike like new again. The staff was very helpful with the repairs and letting me know when all the parts were in. I've been a loyal Ride On customer since they were more of a BMX shop. They're a bit different now, but the approach is the same: great customer service, good prices and a super laid back vibe. Sure there are lots of shops in the city where you can buy a bike or get repairs, but it's kinda hit and miss. Ride On is the one chain where literally every employee from the 3 locations is down to earth, knowledgable, and all about getting you stoked on bikes. Excellent service by bike mechanic Dave!! Gears were not shifting properly. Dave showed me what was wrong and what he needed to do to fix it. Also, gave me suggestions as to what I may want to consider in the future with regards to upgrading my bike, or purchasing a new one. However, I never felt he was being pushy at all. Walked out of there $10.60 poorer, seriously, where can you get good service now with a minimum charge of $35 and up. Definitely recommend Ride On Again Bikes. read more

Cycling home from UBC, I noticed my rear rack loaded with panniers was rattling around pretty bad. Turned out most of the hardware holding the rack on had come loose and fallen out leaving the whole thing holding on by a couple of threads of one bolt. I was only a block away from Ride On Again and popped in quickly. Turns out they were just about to close, and after some initial sass about locking my bike up outside instead of bringing it in - which makes no sense if one is looking for service - I was greeted by a very friendly mechanic who helped me out no questions asked. He went out of his way after cleaning up for the day to find the appropriate hardware and lock-tite it all so this problem wouldn't happen again. Best part is, no charge. What was a very simple fix also turned out to be one of the best experiences I've had in a bike shop in this city to date. Didn't catch the mechanics name, but big thanks to you and to Ride On for being a good, decent shop. Highly Recommended. read more

Do not go to this bike shop!! They take on more work then they can handle and as a result the quality of their work is awful. I took my bike here and asked for a quote for the work I needed done. When I went to pick it up they said that it was going to cost more then my quote. I was never notified of the increase in cost. When I informed them of the quote they were rude and it took them awhile to come around to my originally quoted price. Once I left the shop I took my bike for a ride and they didn't even fix the things I had asked for. Shifting was awful, they didn't put the front tire on straight, they never put the caps back on the air valves, and they tightened the brakes so much that I could barely apply pressure. I went back to inform them of my concerns and I was dismissed. I ended up having to take my bike into another shop and they had serious reservations about whether or not Ride On Again even did the tune-up. Also, ladies should be careful about this place as the guys tend to take advantage of your perceived lack of knowledge about bikes! They are like used car salesmen. read more

This store gets lots of points for their efforts at refurbishing and recycling donated bikes and then selling them as "cheap student bikes". So, they have a pretty nifty selection of different types of bikes that you can pick up for a reasonable cost, and the service here is pretty good too. Don't forget your helmet! read more

I've been coming to Ride On Again for a long time but never bought a bike from them until last year. Although it was of course my fault for not doing my research, I got completely swindled by them. I bought a USED SuperCycle bike from them for $225 on sale, they told me it was a great deal for the bike. They also said it had been tuned up. I had problems with the gears almost immediately after buying it and when my pedal became loose I took it back to them. They said I needed a full tune-up to fix multiple things, even though I had only used the bike a few times since buying. Now, I'm trying to re-sell the bike cause I'm moving, and I find out the bike is going for $150 NEW from Canadian Tire. Very disappointing :( :( read more

I went to this shop looking for a cheap bike for sale. In asking the owner for any suggestions on their cheaper sales he instantly responded by saying 'why did we come then?' and 'to go elsewhere instead'. This was not helpful at all, very rude and overall bad customer service. Due to this insult, we were in and out of the shop within 5 minutes as the owner kicked us out without making ANY suggestions--zip, zero, notta. He did not cater to us at all as customers with no considerations to our preferences or needs. I will definitely no longer come back. My 2013 Brodie Romulus was stolen from the kitsilano area, and due to the efforts put in by Ride Ons staff after police having contact them, we were able to recover my bike before it was lost in the circulation. It was really impressive to witness how Ride On Again staff really put in the work to help you out, it's always a pleasant sight to see people who enjoy working their job and have that enjoyment reflect on the good treatment of their customers ! I spent over $1,500 on a new bike and supplies here. After a month of riding the new bike, my hands were going numb and a professional fitting revealed that the handlebars were too wide for me. I called to ask about swapping out the handlebars for a smaller size. I was surprised by the reaction of the store owner who was condescending and quick to point out that the cost would not be covered. I probably would have been willing to pay for the cost of the handlebar replacement but I decided to go elsewhere because of the attitude. Disappointed that they were happy to take my money but not interested in having a happy customer. I won't be back. read more

Only 4 stars as I haven't been to the shop but had a good experience with them so far. Was looking to get rid of one decent and another quite old bike. II called Sat afternoon long weekend and Don came to my place (very close to the shop) within the hour and grabbed the bikes! Big bonus to find out they have so many social programs where the bikes go to good use. I'm now a fan. Next time I'm spending any bike related money I'll be paying them a visit. read more

Recently brought my tire in as it had a bent a spoke and punctured tube. They had it fixed within 15 minutes. I was expecting to have the spoke replaced and to be sold an expensive tube but was really surprised about how little it cost. They managed to true the wheel without replacing the spoke & popped in a new tube. I mentioned a few other issues with my bike, was given some advice on how to do a DIY fix and they also said to bring it in and they'll have a look over it. Felt no pressure to buy anything else. These guys are fantastic. Not only are their selection and prices unbeatable, but their service and knowledge are second to none. We bought an adult Komodo trike for my wife for a great price only to have the rear hub fail a few weeks later (which apparently is common on this model). Not only did they come by and pick the bike up, they also replaced the entire rear gear and chain system with higher quality components for free. i won't go back to this shop. there are so many good bike shops in the city, why bother with this one. i took an older model folding bike into the store for a tune-up. i asked the guy to check the tires and make sure they were okay. i bought the bike as a gift for a friend who was going to burning man. the bike was super simple and had one hand brake and no gears. i was told the cost would be $25. i got the bike back after a few days and the charge was $42. i told the guy behind the till i was not happy with the price change and he said all the tune-ups were the same price. he asked me who told me the price was $25 and i pointed out the guy to him and he said, that's the owner. if that's not bad enough, my friend takes the bike to burning man and the front tire goes flat. luckily there was a bike repair shop on the playa. she was told the wrong size inner tube was put in the front tire. read more

He was so defensive and condescending that we just left. Wasn't trying to trick you, buddy, I just genuinely wanted some enlightenment! Walked into the store looking for some chain oil, a new bike lock etc...after waiting several minutes to be acknowledged by the staff, I finally found the chain oil I needed and was told to "give it to the girl at the counter"...we then waited another 5 minutes (I timed it) without her even acknowledging out presence before her...not even eye contact with a "be one sec"...as she talked on the phone, talked to other people and all in all looked pissed off to be there...we finally walked out without purchasing and proceed to have the owner apolo-argue-gise (apologies but argue that the poor/complete lack of customer service was somehow acceptable). read more

In early summer 2015, I dropped off my old Apollo racer for maintenance. I requested to be contacted before any work was done so I could approve repair costs. I never received a call, and after busy number of weeks and a number of un-returned phone calls, I dropped by to see if it was ready. They wheeled out a bike with my name and service request taped to the frame, but it was not my bike. The service guy acted surprised, and came out empty handed when I told him it wasn't my bike and asked him to check again. After a period of being told to go fish, and having the staff berate me for 'taking advantage of their storage space at no cost', and claiming that they had called me many, many times (I have the phone records to prove this was not the case) they finally agreed to replace my Apollo, which seemed to have disappeared, with a junky racer of substantially lower quality. I also had a difficult time getting a replacement lock for the one I had left wrapped around my bike seat when I dropped it off for service. In summary, though I do own some responsibility for not having gone to the store to inquire sooner, I left feeling like the staff are very shady, and having been made to feel like a crook for their mishandling of my personal property. I would never, ever spend my money at any of their stores again, and have actively discouraged my friends and colleagues from using their services or purchasing their products. I do the same for anyone using Yelp for reliable consumer reviews. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. read more

I visited the main st location after putting my rear derailer into my spokes. I also wanted them to service my front wheel hub because it seemed a bit loose. The turnaround was only one day which impressed me. When I picked up the bike I rode over to North Vancouver or at least that was the plan before my chain broke which destroyed my front derailer in the process. I took the bus back to the shop only hours after picking up my bike and they informed me it would take them another 24 hours to make the new repairs. They gave me a new front derailer but charged me for a new chain which they originally told me was fine. 2 months later my front hub was acting up again so I took it to a new shop who explained the last shop used the wrong sized quick release which given my carbon fork was potentially very dangerous. I was also very frustrated with this store when they refused to refer me to another shop when I asked who carry's fat bikes. I don't normally write reviews but I felt this was a huge let down. read more
