Let me start off by saying I'm from Texas, so maybe our region has a different style to our BBQ than up here. First of all, I found it odd you couldn't order their meat by weight. Every other BBQ place I've been to (in the south) you can order 1/4 pound, 1/2 pound, etc of brisket, chicken, pork, whatever. So that was strange to me. I ended up ordering a platter with 4 different meats to take home and share with my family. I had sausage, brisket, turkey, and ribs and was not impressed with any of them. My husband thought it tasted fine. Definitely not the best BBQ place ever. And their BBQ sauce tasted like pure sugar. No tanginess or flavor except liquid sugar. Everyone raves about this place but I couldn't even eat it. We got a special they have on Fridays that is like a sampler. The corn muffins were dry. The meat was all really tough, except the sausage of course. Their sauce was very plain to me. The brisket was just fat, no meat. The sides, Mac and cheese and green beans, were plain and nothing better than I make at home. The sides were also really tiny. Like the size of a shot glass. I wouldn't go back. Maybe this is good for people who aren't foodies or don't like spices. I don't understand the good reviews. read more

I have never been to their restaurant, but I attended a banquet they catered for about 150 people. We were served a pulled pork sandwich with slaw (make your own sandwich), plain chicken leg and thigh, baked beans, and potato salad. The pulled pork was okay, but not outstanding, the BBQ sauce was not to my liking. the chicken was just a plain piece of chicken with maybe a little salt and pepper, the baked beans were very good, but the potato salad was not good at all. I think Rollin Smoke BBQ is much much better. It is very close the BBQ I had for years in Texas. read more

Ordered the rib plate, the six piece mild wings and the pulled pork salad . The ribs were way over cooked and dry and chewy,the cole slaw was dry and had no flavor,way too spicy for a mild wing and a little over cooked but the best thing was the pulled pork on the salad, it was excellent. read more

Almost two years ago a tree service owner, Will Cragg, gave us a $25 gift card to Ridge View BBQ. This place is our go to BBQ restaurant. We have yet to have a bad meal or a bad experience here. The portions are very generous. The owners work there as well as their friendly staff. So it is locally owned and run. Their health department rating is Excellent. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is the limited number of sauces they have...I like to try several different regional sauces on my Q. I've visited this store about 10 times. Excellent ribs smoked out front, the aroma draws you in like a moth to a flame!!! Try both of their homemade sauces, I like to mix them. We are so grateful to Yelp for helping us discover this place!!! We are road-tripping from California and this was our first BBQ on the road. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top and it was a 5-star sandwich. My kids, who are picky, loved their burgers and wings. We don't get much legit sweet tea out in Cali so being back on the east coast, it was a treat to get some--and it was perfect!! I got a pulled-chicken salad (not on the menu) but the gal helping us (who turned out to be one of the owners) was super accommodating and suggested this. Everything was fresh, the staff was super friendly and, if we can, we'll stop in on the way back!!! Just look for the flames on the windows and the steel BBQ smoking out front. :) read more

The wings are the best on earth! Smoked and then deep fried. I've stopped in for lunch twice in the past week. It's easy to find, just hit Rt. 25 in Institute and follow your nose! The pulled pork is amazing too, not to mention their sauces and the people are as friendly as can be. Truly a great place to fill your belly! read more

Nice and clean. My husband & I ordered the pull pork platters. The pull pork was cold and tasted as it had soaked in water. The BBQ sauce was bland. The bun was cold and the corn muffins were cold. Maybe they need to invest in a warmer since so many items we ordered was cold. We will not be coming back. read more

BBQ was the real deal, very very good. I did think that the pork shoulder used in the pulled pork had aged a bit more than it should have before cooking and the place was very, very small and disorganized. The Best EVER!!! In so many ways I love this place. The food is fresh with quality ingredients. The taste is consistent. If you love it (which you will), it will be that way every time you order it. The staff is absolutely the best in the state. They will go above and beyond to accommodate you and keep you happy. Their smoke permeates through the meat giving a fantastic hickory (i think) flavor to all the meat. Our personal favorites are the porky cheese fries, the smoked turkey, the Hillbilly Philly, and the ramp burger. Just about everything is near to perfect. Delicious! I throughly enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich. It is a large meal even just with chips! I have come to expect low quality kids food from my chain restraunt experiences. This place put just as much work into my son's grilled cheese as my sandwich. Service was quick and efficient on a busy lunch rush . Food was great with one exception that disappointed me . The green bean !!, All of the pork and fat that could have been used to flavor the beans. Instead they still taste like canned. I won't let the disappointment stop from eating here again . Remains my go-to spot for BBQ. I've had BBQ in all four corners of this country and this is the best pulled pork I have found with the beef brisket coming in a close second. Beans and slaw are excellent compliments to their meat. The sauce is outstanding with a mild Vinegar base and beats any brown sugar and ketchup sauce you can ever find. Very disappointed... in myself for passing this place so many times and not giving it chance do to the area. I am not from this area but I've past it no less than 50 times. Today I had the brisket sandwich, mac and cheese, and green beans. The brisket sandwich was loaded with beef and was very juicy. I like to try different briskets from different places because I too make various types of brisket. Another perk about Ridge view BBQ was that I got all of that for 10$. I liked this place a lot and will be coming back. The BBQ sandwich had plenty of meat and slaw and was very tasty. The potato salad was great and well as the bake beans but I would avoid the mac n cheese. The food was great! I loved being able to smell the BBQ smoking in the smoker out front of the parking lot. Service was good for the most part. When we first walked in, the lady behind the register made a comment about hoping we'd be out in 30 minutes. They close at 7 pm, and we got there at 5:50 pm. It's a fast food type restaurant, so I'm not sure why they were making comments about us coming in "late." Also, the parking is terrible. Otherwise, the food was great. Some of the best BBQ I've had. Ridge View BBQ is the best BBQ joint I've encountered. Their side items are phenomenal, especially the green beans and the mac & cheese... I could eat those both by the gallon. The meat offerings are the true stars though, with the brisket and ribs being my two favorites. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and simple. I would love to have them cater a big event at some point. read more
