The care and concern that all staff members have for the residents is in comparable. This is a small facility, 40 beds, but the staff was very adequate. The building was spotless and odorless. Each resident had their own TV, the rooms were large, beds modern and comfortable. Large closet, two dressers, plenty of wall space to hang pictures. Excellent social director, and therapy staff, who knew and were concerned about all the residents. I was lucky to get my Mother in this facility.

My experiences with the Mayflower have been terrible. I have a family member who went through the…read morerehab portion for after stroke care. The staff (most not all) are rude and do not communicate with family members about their loved one. They do not return phone calls. They talk rudely to the residents and about the residents to other staff members. My loved one sat in their soiled brief for over 2 hours on more than one instance because the nurse would not answer their call to take them to the restroom, which resulted in an infection. My loved one has also been given the wrong medication which resulted in an ER trip. Seniors deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not like they are children without a say. Do yourself and your family member a favor and do not send them here for nursing/rehabilitation. I can't speak about the other parts but this area is horrible.

Hundreds of the Mayflower residents living in the Independent tower still are not…read moreallowed back to their apartments after the underground parking flooded during Hurricane Ian ( 9-28-22). As of today 11-4-22 the residents are still not allowed to go to their apartments even to pick up their belongings. Many are living in hotels. The Mayflower neglected to take care of flooding which has happened in the past but this time it fried their electrical, the generator and the elevators. Here is the latest update from CEO Steve Kramer on 11-4-22: This week, we continued to make progress on repairs to our electrical system. We received two tractor trailer loads of temporary electrical gear, which are being prepared for installation once the demolition of the existing electrical equipment is complete. We expect demolition to be complete and equipment installation to begin by the middle of next week. Once temporary gear is installed and activated, we will be able to initiate elevator repairs. Again, much of this work is happening simultaneously. As you know, we originally asked residents to prepare to vacate their apartments for three to four weeks, based on information we had at the time. Next week will be the four-week mark - and while we have made monumental progress in a relatively short amount of time, given the scope of our repairs, we clearly will not be able to have residents return yet. Because we are still awaiting confirmation on lead times for some critical repair components, we cannot yet provide a specific return date - but our contractors and suppliers are working with us to expedite the process as much as possible. As soon as we are able to solidify the timeline, you will know. We've had a number of inquiries regarding concerns about the possibility for mold growth in the apartments. Please know that we are regularly monitoring the apartment towers, and both our Building Services Director and Director of Construction agree that this should not be a concern in the apartments. Additionally, the garage and areas that were inundated with water have been remediated and treated as well. Many of you have been visiting the new Mayflower healthcare building. If you do: As a matter of safety, please do not park in the designated Fire Lane when you first enter the new building's parking lot. The City of Winter Park has been issuing citations to vehicles parked in that area. Finally, I'd like to share some good news: Last night, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce held their annual Best of Winter Park reception. The attitude of the staff is troubling. Most are unfriendly, unapproachable, and lack warmth and compassion. My Dad was constantly falling and injuring himself which shows me he was not being watched. I was extremely worried about my father's health and the overall standard of care. He seemed to have declined faster in his dementia at this facility. Once he was moved to another facility, my father is now blossoming. If you care for your loves ones. Don't send them here!!

What I really wanted to harp on is the service. Putting your family member into homes like these can be very disconcerting -- are they taking care of her? Feeding her properly? Giving her love and attention? YES! Peace of mind is something too valuable in instances like these. My grandmother is currently staying here, and she is treated wonderfully. Her hairstyles change more often then mine, and her nails are always groomed/painted. The staff knows her by name, and are able to make considerate conversation, if only momentarily. Your loved one will be well taken care of here, and that, is invaluable.

Run! Stay away. If your family member is not arriving with someone they will be treated as such. Do…read morenot arrive on the weekend or after 2 pm on Friday. You will be told no one is available to evaluate them and your loved one may be forced to be bed ridden and diapered if no one is there to speak for them. The nurses did not even check to see if she was oriented. When the floor manager came in that evening she assessed her and most importantly spoke to her like a person and then called in the nurses and assistants to read them the riot act. My mom had knee surgery and was just there for PT. They would move her and touch her bandaged leg and had no clue why she was there. There was no communication between the shifts. She put her in a diaper despite her protests, they didn't want to get her a chair to go to the bathroom and told her she'd have to go in the diaper. This was before I got there. The bathroom was badly ventilated, between two rooms so it always felt like someone had showered recently, it only had a toilet. The food was disgusting, prefrozen meats that looked like the muscle had burst from improper storage, skinned mash potatoes that felt like hardened chunks that had been left uncovered, cold and bad coffee and what was surely jello that had been to watered to prevent becoming solid with ice cubes in it. On top of that the plastic covers for the food smelled like standing water. We brought her food and fruit every day. There is no where for family to sit. They did not bathe her even though she arrived in hospital robes. They spoke AT her. My husband noticed another woman who seemed to have been wearing the same thing all weekend. On a Sunday morning they told my mom when she was alone that her knee extension machine was broken and they would have to wait til PT came in on Monday before she could have her treatments. We showed up and asked the nurse on that shift to turn it on. She walked in and set it up. It was never broken, they had just taken it apart and said it was broken. My mother was upset and felt so unsafe. She had been uncomfortable not being at home when she arrived but her fear and anxiety became palpable. The insurance company and hospital were appalled by her treatment and worked with us to get her out of there as soon as possible but they needed the in house doctor to ok the transfer. They lied to my husband about when the doctor was available and nothing happened until the evening before she left. We made sure she left the next day by noon. This is a nightmare. Do not leave your family here. Do not leave your enemies here.
