This was a relatively small incident, but I was told emergency services were needed immediately. Before receiving any meaningful explanation of the scope of work, I was sent a contract stating that there would be a minimum of $2,500 in charges. Two technicians arrived around 11:45 p.m. and left less than two hours later. They set up two dehumidifiers and four fans. (Later found out these emergency services cost $2500, NOT including any other work. 2 dehumidifiers and 4 fans!) On Monday, the project coordinator provided an estimate for over $8,000. When I requested an itemized breakdown, I found discrepancies that made me very uncomfortable: the estimate listed the wrong number of fans, several line items were unclear, and there was a $500 waste-removal charge for less than 50 square feet of drywall. They also billed 6.5 hours of technician "drive" time. The estimate appeared to bill for communication with insurance as well. Do not use Dry Kings if you want fair, transparent non-predatory service. Get an independent assessment and demand an itemized estimate before signing anything.
