I Like how they have a "self serve salsa bar" with guacamole and roasted peppers. Although the Salsa tasted like soap, the chimichanga was crunchy and delicious. Rigobertos has the biggest serving of horchata water and i recommend it. After hearing countless rave reviews from friends and family I decided to take my chances and try the small Mexican Fast Food/Restaurant Rigoberto's. While nothing fancy, it is cheap and decent food so long as you don't catch them on an off night and find yourself with terrible service, or even worse. I say even worse because out of the same group of family and friends, three of them eventually ended up with food poisoning from this same establishment. Personally I like the environment, the Mexican themed music and the normally friendly staff, but have had my share of trouble as well. While I have yet to get food poisoning, I have dealt with their less friendly staff once or twice and it was enough to keep me from going back. On one of these ocassions I ordered a Rigoberto burrito with beans and rice on the side, and ended up with the wrong order. When I took my food up to them to request what I had actually ordered, the person behind the cash register told me that was exactly what I had ordered, and shot down my request. I proceeded to talk to her and explain that wasn't what I paid for, until eventually another member of the staff came up and corrected my order after sending the original cashier away. While the service hasn't been the most friendly at times, the food was cheap and edible, but the fear of food poisoning has sent me to other Mexican restaurants in Albany such as Muchas Gracias, or Los Dos Amigos. read more

Gross!!!. If you can't even make nachos right why are you in business?. Meat not hot, cheese not even melted when asked for cheese to get melted, they took back the order made a new order and added guacamole (I'm a allergic) hints why I asked for no guacamole the first time. When I noticed this I asked to get a new order made the lady at the counter was extremely rude accused me of eating almost half the nachos, even though I Did not take one bite, so I simply said I'll just get my money back since it was a big deal. Rigoberto's has nothing but excellent service. I have been here many of times and their employees are nothing but genuine people. Every time I walk through the door I am greeted with a smile and my order gets taken as soon as possible. I have never had an issue or complaint about any of the employees whatsoever, they create a good environment. The inside of the restaurant has been recently redone and it looks spectacular. They added a couple flat screen T.V's and re painted the inside; this made the whole interior much more aesthetic then it used to be. Overall the inside is pretty clean and kept tidy, making the dining in experience much more pleasant than the other Rigoberto's. The only problem I've encountered is sometimes the tables aren't completed wiped off, and the bathroom can get a little grungy at times. The food that they produce is nothing but good authentic Mexican food. While it is technically a fast food Mexican restaurant, the food is just as good as a sit down Mexican restaurant. My favorite things to get from Rigoberto's are the Carne Asada Fries and the Oregon Burrito. While the Carne Asada fries may be very unhealthy, the taste is un beatable. One time I ordered the Steak Fajita burrito and it was very soupy, aside from that time everything has tasted great. The best thing about this restaurant are the portion sizes, I always have leftovers to bring back home. read more

We are from s. Ca so we are used to traditional Mexican food. This is a great representation of that. Whenever my kids come to town from Alaska or Holland or even Portland, this is the first place they want to go to. Anything on the menu should make you happy. We always order the chips and salsa then save it for the next morning. I soak all of it mixed up in about 6-8 whipped eggs and a little milk for 30-45 minutes. Then fry it up. I honestly don't usually get the meat here because it's never treated me well. Delicious burritos the size of Texas for an incredibly fair ($5) price. I am from San Diego CA. Tons of taco shops there. I saw this taco shop and I recognized the name, because there is a Rigoberto's in La Mesa CA. I wondered if it was related to the to the same ownership. I walked in and sure enough they have the same Mexican guy on the shirts that they wear down in La Mesa. The quality and taste of the food is very good, and in general I enjoy eating here. However, there is a disconnect in communication between the people taking drive-thru orders and the kitchen. My order has been the same every time I have visited: carne asada burrito, add refried beans, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Only twice have I received my burrito as ordered. Every other time, the burrito has been missing ingredients or contained ingredients I did not order (and are not part of the basic carne asada burrito). What I am charged changes from visit to visit, too, with the burrito's price ranging from $8 to close to $10. After today's burrito mishap (they removed the pico de gallo that comes standard, they added rice, they forgot the cheese, refried beans, and sour cream, but they managed to add the guacamole), I'm just going to order straight off the menu and no longer request any additions or subtractions if I return. read more

When I think of Mexican fast food, I think of food that looks/tastes like taco bell or del taco. This place has food that looks and tastes like a nice sit-down Mexican restaurant would have... But for a great price and an incredibly fast delivery. Their portion sizes are also similar to a sit-down restaurant, and I always have leftovers for lunch the next day. FOOD Rigoberto's has some of the best Mexican food in the tiny city of Albany. It's always freshly cooked and full of flavor. I love ordering their huge burritos with a large horchata. Their hot sauce is do die for! PRICE I think the price of individual items on the menu and reasonable, but it can add up quick. It's not the cheapest food, but you get what you pay for. ATMOSPHERE The building is, well, questionable looking. It seems to look almost rundown, or like a place that would dish out a terrible night on the toilet. Do not be discouraged, and don't judge a book by its cover. The food is great. SERVICE The waitresses will reassure you that you're getting authentic Mexican food, and by that I mean that most of them speak English poorly. Although their English is not the best, I have never got the wrong order. Everyone providing their service to you is very kind and welcoming. CONVENIENCE Rigoberto's is very convenient! Do you feel like fantastic Mexican food at 1 a.m?! Then Rigoberto's is the place for you! They're open all day every day! The fajitas are magical. Everything seemed very authentic and I really like the condiment bar.

I absolutely love some of their items (the veggie burrito and chimichangas are awesome), but their breakfast burritos are only so-so. I'm also a little confused by the nachos because I've ordered them twice and received 2 vastly different plates. The first time, it was awesome with all the fixings. The second time, I literally got a plate of chips with shredded cheese sprinkled on top. If you want an amazing burrito, you're in luck. If you want great tacos, you're also in luck unless you want a Taco Bell Americanized version of tacos (no, real tacos don't have tomatoes and cheese and sour cream...). Another issue I have is consistency. Sometimes if you order a burrito, you get rice and beans too. Sometimes, you get lettuce. Sometimes, you get nothing. I've received each of those when ordering the exact same thing. All in all, the place is quite good. I'd give them 5 stars if their breakfast was better and their menu was consistent. read more

Recommended to us by everyone at AA towing. They warned us that the food was excellent and portions were large. I will agree. Service was fast and friendly and the food was fresh and got. Rigoberto's is not eye candy nor does it taste like candy. The same girl that works there everyday can hardly speak English and is very slow. The vegetables are old and the meat is greasy. But honestly, what can you expect from a place that looks like it went through nuclear warfare? The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a 1 star is because of the one item on their menu that is actually good. The Oregon Burrito has all of the vegetables, cheese, and meat. For some reason this is the only thing that tastes good and I would go as far as to say it is great. The only thing me and my friends ever order is the Oregon Burrito. So if you want a greasy burrito from a rundown, fast food Mexican restaurant that is on the other side of the street from a Taco Bell, then this is your place. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant through its various name changes. The food seems to remain the same. Generally it's pretty good. I'm a fan of the Oregon burrito, and the carne asada chips too. The biggest complaint I have is that the meat they use is very inconsistent. Meaning, one day you may go and get the most delicious and tender beef you've ever had. The next time you may get all gristle, no real meat. When they're packing burritos and nachos with gristly meat, it pretty much ruins the food. I come back every year or so to see if they've fixed the problem, but it has been ongoing for many years now. read more
