We are doing a road trip from Portland, Oregon down to San Francisco and just decided we wanted Mexican food tonight so I whipped out yelp and this place was on the side of the road and we figured we would give it a try. The food was excellent and very filling. The staff were amazing and up to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Sometimes Mexican places will give you fried ice cream for the birthday. They gave us flan here and it was super good. Service was great, our waiter really took care of us, unfortunately that was about it. I couldn't really tell you how my chicken fajitas were because my plate has lots of veggies and not a lot of chicken or the pieces were cut up too small. There's so many bad Mexican restaurants around here I was happy we tried this place out. My steak fajitas burrito was really good. My mom enjoyed her margarita and enchilada. Nice looking place, parking a few up front. Most in side/back Friendly fast service. Chips salsa beans were right there- warm Try their skirt steak. Fabulous flavor. And the chili rellleno- great! I made a mistake ordering chik fajitas. No special flavor, but worts was it was burning on the way!! I couldn't get most of it off the iron skillet fast enough. I should've sent it back. Our family was in the area for a volleyball tournament, and stumbled into this place on accident. We really had a great time. The food was humble American-Mexican greasy spoon. I had a chile relleno burrito, and also enjoyed the chips and beans and salsa. All of our meals were well, and came out quickly and hot. Service was excellent. No wait, even on a weekend evening when they were relatively busy. But the biggest reason for the fifth star is that they really leaned in to the vibe, and it has just a cozy atmosphere. This is a place where you would take guests from out of town. Elaborately decorated, and partitioned so that conversation does not disturb other diners. I do wish the music, although tasteful, would be turned down, so that elderly people could converse more easily. The waitstaff were grown men, dignified and genuine. Food was excellent and super hot. Chips came with refritos and a high-solids salsa. When I left the restaurant after drinking a house margarita, I had a bit of a buzz on, which usually never happens. A friend who lives here part time and in AZ part time said it was authentic Mexican food, so we gave it a try. It's really cute inside and feels festive. Our server and all of the staff were friendly and seemed happy to help us. The food came out very quickly and was freshly prepared. And no fussing over a special order. This is our friends favorite Mexican restaurant in town. This is my second time coming here, the first time I wasn't impressed. This time around I had the fish tacos. I like that they give you big piece of fish in each taco. The margaritas that are blended, you taste no alcohol. My friend asked for no beans, just all rice. Her plate came with beans. He asked if she wanted them scraped off, she told him no because the beans are so runny they go into the enchiladas as well. So I finished my meal once her meal finally came out again. She said only one specific waiter listens to her request there, the rest of the time this happens.. Not sure why she wants to keep coming back. I prefer La Roca, everyone has their favorites I guess. Not quite sure that it lived up to it's 4.6 stars here on Yelp, but I'd call this restaurant a safe bet for ordering. Nice parking. Close to freeway. Generic Mexican Restuarant. Nothing authentic or different, so review is based on that. Food is same as everywhere else. No bar. No video lotto. Place is clean and freshly painted with festive decor. When we came in, there must have been some sort of staffing issue or something. We waited about ten minutes for water. Another ten for beers. We were about to leave once the food time inched closer to the 50 minute mark. But, sadly food arrived and was generic. Bleh. This is what good Mexican food tastes like! A traditional menu but exceptional food and freshness. The Chile Relleno was authentic! A light egg batter on a large cheese filled poblano with just the right heat! The shredded beef chimichanga was lightly fried and crisp, but not greasy with a generous topping of guacamole...yum! The house margarita was bright and refreshing. I'm not always a fan of mexican rice, but I ate very bite of theirs! The staff was so friendly and attentive. The service is outstanding, the food - authentic, homemade, and for us - best chips and salsa in town! We typically judge a Mexican place by the first dish you get - which is chips and salsa. It's clearly made fresh daily! The tables use guacamole is delicious! We enjoy their Cadillac margaritas a great deal! Wyatt is almost always our server and he's just the best - but honestly all the staff is amazing! Super friendly and helpful! We have tried a lot of the menu items and have zero complaints. Stopped in on a Saturday. Saw the previous review on taking 10 minutes for water - we actually got chips and salsa at 2 minutes and water by minute 8. Food by minute 15. Our server wasn't the best but the other staff filled in for him. Carne was tender. Also the margarita flight looked tasty. Great spot in Albany to eat. read more
