First, Rim Nam is soon to be known as Winnie's Thai Food. The hours are now 2-9 PM, Tuesday-Sunday. Call-in orders can be made at 206.886.9966 I must say, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. Winnie, the new owner/operator, is simply delightful. A personable, friendly person, who shows sincere interest in her clients. The atmosphere is a mix of old and new, making it calm and enjoyable. The food is made individually, with an option of Winnies homemade spices or no spices for the more delicate palate. Our order consisted of appetizers of Shrimp egg rolls, which were scrumptious. The main dish consisted of Pork noodles, Pad Thai and crab fried rice; each bring wonderful taste sensations. Looking forward to trying many other dishes in the future. The café's hours state it opens at 11:00 a.m., so I drove an hour from Eugene to try it after a morning hike. I arrived at 12:45 p.m. and it was closed. I also called twice beforehand to place a takeout order but received no answer. Disappointing experience--please ensure posted hours are accurate. read more

I have traveled across the country and eaten at many Thai places of every kind from very small, wonderful family owned cafes, to large well-known locations. I have never had such bad Thai food in my life. Perhaps a part of that is due to the incredibly slow, tedious, and unfriendly service. But after waiting so long, you would hope the food was delicious! That's been my experience at other tiny restaurants - the time to get food takes a long time, but the high quality and flavor makes the time well worth it! Not so here! The woman who also has posted a self-promoting sign ("WTF" winnie thai food - as if this is a good way to promote oneself!) definitely came across as having a narcissistic personality disorder. Add to this, she is now using part of the dining room for her food prep, making it unsanitary for food safety. The dining area is already incredibly cramped, cold,, and shows signs of water damage and rot. I am sorry to have to say this because Oakridge, OR is in need of good places to eat - save your time and money and go to the Mexican restaurant or the 3 Legged Crane. read more

Actually good Thai food in Oakridge! When I drive through Oakridge, I feel like the only option is Dairy Queen and it is sub par. I found the answer when I looked on Yelp! This little Thai restaurant doesn't look like much and it is easy to pass it by. However I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to find a very clean and tidy little dining area and greeted by very friendly gal. I ordered Pad Thai and Green Curry and it was very good. The curry had enough spice and lots of chicken. It's not the best I've ever had but definitely worth the price and very good. I'm happy to find a place in Oakridge that is not DQ. A warm and well-cared for ambiance welcomed us after driving over Willamette pass. The food was fresh and spectacular, and excellent service throughout our visit. We ordered appetizers and 5 distinct entrees. The chili oil was very good too. I will stop by for take-out or dining in next time we visit Oakridge. read more

I was delighted with the warmth and friendliness of the owners, then with the savory lemongrass/shrimp/coconut soup, the best I've ever had with the full-bodied tanginess that separates it from milder, blander versions found elsewhere. We saw this place on our way to Eugene, and promise it will be a place we will ALWAYS stop off at for food. The atmosphere is cozy and cute, the owners are as sweet as could be, and the service was so fast! We tried the spring rolls, the drunken noodles, and the yellow curry- this place is legit! Everything was perfect, portions were generous, and we're already talking about what we're going to try next time we come through town. The food was amazing ! We came here from la to spend a few days in Oregon and we're a bit iffy about having thai food or any food because it's hard to find something good to eat. So we were not expecting much. This place exceeded our expectations. They have the best chicken wings i have ever tired and i love chicken wings. And there butterfly lemonade is amazing . We are here twice in the week we were visiting . There chicken sautéed( I'm not sure of the exact name) was greatt as well. The sauces that they make that comes with these things are soo good! They man and the women serving are soo kind and try there complete best and you can tell they care. They are sooo kind and sweet. This place was a blessing. Best Thai food I have had in a while. The service is slow, but it's pretty much a one woman show. The food is made with a lot of care and attention to detail. We had the pad Thai which was sweet and savory and beautifully presented. Ice water was bottled and brought out with full glasses of ice and fruit slices. My dietary concerns were happily accommodated. Even though it was extremely busy, everything was done with a smile and courtesy. We ate there this weekend, and while the food was reasonable, we felt we were taken advantage of in many ways. First of all, they will not give you tapwater which made us a little bit frustrated. Secondly, we were charged $12 for two bowls large white rice. Even though they said they were serving family style they charged us the "normal"price and put, the rice in one big bowl. We had two entrées one soup and three Boba teas and our bill was $90 for lunch. We were shocked. I guess "caveat emptor", buyer beware. Make sure you ask the price of everything before you order it, especially when you're getting refills and such. read more

It can be a real challenge sourcing fresh ingredients in a rural community, where canned and frozen ingredients are generally what's available, and most of what's fresh comes from the back of a Sysco truck. Thai food, known for its freshness of ingredients and the harmonious marriage of sweet, sour, salty, and aromatic ingredients is especially challenging to do well. I have dined three times at Rim Nam Thai Cafe since changing ownership, and Sean has made the best of what's available to bring Northern Thai cuisine to this mountain town. When I consider the quality of thai, something to look for is the freshness of the ingredients, the wok seasoning, the handling of noodles, and the amount of grease used. In short, the food here is handled well, cooked well, and is quite fresh. I've had the pad see ew twice now, once with pork, and another time with duck, and both times it was quite nice. The duck was especially tender and sweet, and not too greasy. In both cases the noodles were cooked perfectly and don't fall apart. My singular feedback for how this restaurant can go from good to great is if they used more fresh herbs in their dishes. Given how hard it is to source fresh herbs out here, there understandably aren't many easy options. I hope this restaurant finds someone local to grow their basil and coriander, and I believe that will make this restaurant a Destination for others to seek out. I greatly enjoy this Thai restaurant, and look forward to eating more from there in the future. read more

The food made us sick with diarrhea, that's all we had gotten to eat that day so far, and we all got sick after eating it.
