I can't believe I've lived on the east side for almost 5 years now and had never heard of, much less frequented this outstanding family run Italian restaurant in the heart of charming Kirkland! What a great find! Every aspect of our evening was simply superb. We were warmly greeted by Giovanni as we entered the restaurant. Every person who attended to us was friendly and helpful. Someone, who I assume was part of the family, played guitar and saying to any table that was game. He was actually quite good and unlike some instances when I've had live music, tableside, was not in the least intrusive. A lovely song and he was on his way. Giovanni personally came to check in on us and our experience roughly halfway through the meal. The food was also excellent! I believe they're particularly known for the short rib, ravioli, and I could see why. The short rib itself was incredibly tender and flavorful. We also ordered a steak that was nicely prepared and quite good. The gnocchi was also delicious, if slightly under sauce. But when I mentioned it was slightly dry, they immediately provided me a side bowl of sauce to remedy the situation. Again, just great service! As we were leaving the restaurant, I was slightly disappointed that I didn't see Giovanni, as I wanted to thank him and his family for a wonderful evening. The pistachio mafaldine was outstanding: nutty, creamy, and perfectly balanced. We also asked for a spicy arrabbiata (not on the menu), and they happily made it--packed with sun-dried tomatoes and a beautiful kick from the peppers. Rimini, right on Lake Washington Boulevard in downtown Kirkland, is an absolute gem with an unbeatable location. Owned and run by Italians, this place delivers a true Italian experience from the moment you walk in. We felt genuinely welcomed--more like stepping into someone's home than going out to dinner. Minimalistic décor with black walls, framed photos everywhere, and classic mob-style movie clips (think Scarface) playing on a screen--it's effortlessly cool without trying too hard. There's also a fantastic guy walking around with a guitar who will literally sing anything you ask for, which adds such a fun, lively energy to the night. This is a lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Kirkland. They are only about a year old so I hadn't realized they moved in, until we decided to try it for my birthday dinner. I'm so glad we chose this spot! The restaurant has a small shopfront on Lake, and then goes back all the way to the other side of the street, facing the water. It is very cozy and the warm family vibes are really felt from the time you enter to the time you leave. It really felt like when I'm with my Italian extended in-laws around the holidays. We started with a bottle of Montepulciano to go with the arugula salad and eggplant parmigiani - both were delicious! Next we were entertained by lively accordion music and singing before our dinner arrived. For dinner I had the cioppino and my friend had the ziti. The flavors were savory and filling - and portions were enough to warrant leftovers! We finished the meal with the homemade cannoli and Nutella cheesecake, which they topped with a large sparkling candle (accompanied by beautiful singing!) Everything made me smile from ear to ear. I really enjoyed the service at Rimini. This rating is mainly for the food. They have an extensive pasta menu and I ordered the carbonara. the flavor was good but the pasta was less than al dente and quite chewy. We also ordered the clams, which were good but fairly standard in flavor. When we got there the place was pretty packed so I was sure that this place had great food. We got seated right away due to our reservation and the waitstaff was attentive from the get go. The place is pretty dark inside, and pretty small, very clean and tidy, felt upscale IMO. We did not order any appetizers but I am more than confident they are as amazing as the dishes we ordered. The pasta tasted so fresh, and the sausage, meatballs etc in the dishes were made in house. They even had us try some housemade cheese (amazing) My filet mignon was cooked perfectly. I also had the white chocolate tiramisu where they presented it the most sweetest way possible. They sang happy birthday in Italian then in English and it was epic, thanks to Tony La Stella whom is their nightly entertainment. We had dinner at Rimini Restaurant on Friday, December 12, 2025, around 8:30 PM, to celebrate our friends birthday and honestly... WOW this was one of those nights where everything came together perfectly. Came here to celebrate a birthday. Reservations seems like the way to go as place was packed from when I entered to when I left. Allocate 2-3 hours for a meal here as there's lots of singing and the staff really want you to enjoy your time dining. Upon party arrival, we were served complimentary toasted bread with olive oil drizzled in it and some type of cheese with a balsamic(?) sauce on it. It's a little pungent fyi We got shrimp and calamari frittiti to share and both of these were delicious. I got pasta carbonara and this plate was huge, I took home half of the portion to eat for lunch today. There were a lot of birthdays and the musician would come with his guitar to sing to them. There is complimentary bread and olive oil which were very yummy. Rimini basically blew up in the local neighborhood group with everyone singing its praises. Naturally, I had to see for myself. I have to say I was delightfully pleased. I knew it was popular, so we arrived close to 8pm and we were seated immediately despite a full house. It turns out they have a back room. It was pleasantly quieter there with a view out to Lake Washington. The walls are painted black and decorated with numerous black and white photos of famous Italians. Service was courteous, and a gentleman (owner?) walked around the tables serenading the diners. It was already impressive before any food arrived. Slices of fresh bread with olive oil plus cheese slices with truffle sauce are delivered to the table - free of charge and delicious - nice bonuses. Prices are at the "celebratory" level, but it is worth the money in my opinion. The Food: Short Rib Ravioli, $38 - 5 Stars Menu: beef stuffed in creamy panna mushroom sauce topped tender beef rib This dish is stellar. Having the beef rib on top of the pillows of beef stuffed ravioli made for a beautiful presentation. (See photo!) Everything about this dish was delicious. Seafood Pasta, $38 - 4 Stars Menu: fresh pasta in a medley of fresh seafood in a lemon rose cream sauce Not exactly a complaint, but this dish has many, many baby clams. It was a chore to eat it. I must have been tired cuz I normally love clams, but it was a lot to sort through that night. The pasta was a squid ink pasta that are cut to look like squid tubes. The server told me the name, but I have no clue what she was saying. LOL. Maybe they can add a pasta cheat sheet to the menu since many dishes say house made pasta without specifying the type. The sauce tasted more lemon than rose, not my favorite flavor for a savory dish. The photo shows a yellow to faintly-tan color sauce, not very rose-like color (commonly a deeper pale orange color). I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. The first time was with my work group and then I took my hubby here recently. Now the restaurant itself is loud, but if you get seated in the back, then it's not as noisy, and you get a great view of Kirkland Marina area. Parking is street parking with garages close by. The staff are attentive and welcoming. The food and drink offerings span the gamet! Portion sizes are liberal! The first time I had the special which was Lamb Shank with Red Wine reduction over Risotto. It was delicious and very generous! I couldn't finish it and took it home, but we also had some appetizers to share. And for the appetizers, our party really enjoyed the Bruschetta Bolognese and it could be an entree to itself! But I wanted to take my hubby here beacuse he's obsessed with the Cacio e Pepe Truffle Pasta (the one with pasta in the Pecarino-Romano cheese wheel). So he had that recently, and was a happy camper! Although you can have it as-is, they will also offer it with shrimp or chicken. I had the Panna Bolognese and that was also delicous, with Pappardelle pasta. And once again I couldn't finish my meal! A group of 12 of us came to Rimini for the first time to celebrate New Years Eve. The restaurant is small and quaint and wraps downstairs for a second intimate dining room full of old photos of Italian families enjoying life. Lots of gold in a dimly lit room. The staff were amazing and provided an abundance of friendly and welcoming service including the one of the owners Tony, who serenaded us with Italian songs accompanied by his guitar. Everyone treated us like family. We started with some wine, cocktails, and appetizers of scampi, clams in lemon wine sauce, crusty bread and the giant meatball. The Italian wine selection was substantial for such a small establishment. We enjoyed a Super Tuscan which complimented our food perfectly. Others in our party enjoyed a plethora of cocktails including a tables idea Smoked old-fashioned with walnut bitters. After appetizers are food arrived and we were not disappointed. I enjoyed a chicken marmalade with handmade gnocchi..that were the most dreamy tiny soft pillows of goodness. The chicken was ok, but the gnocchi was the star. The sauce was rich and flavorful infused with fresh herbs. My husband ordered the pasta carbonara with generous chunks of Italian cured meat and a beautiful poached egg on top. Two in our party ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese sauce with parpadelli noodles which they rated a 4 to 5 stars. For dessert we enjoyed the flaming chocolate bomba, limoncello sorbet, amaretto champagne parfait, white chocolate tiramisu, and espresso martinis. We were suprised with complimentary champagne before we left. Everything was delicious and surprisingly served without much wait. Great Italian spot in Kirkland. Made reservations for a Tuesday and it was surprisingly packed for a weekday evening. It feels like a homey, family restaurant. There was even an accordion player walking around providing some nice entertainment. It was a super hot day and they kept the door open so it got pretty hot in the restaurant as well. I'd say it was also a bit loud in the restaurant. It was very packed. Food portions here are quite generous. I'd say the best way to do it is family style and share everything. We got an appetizer, salad and three pastas for the four of us and it was plenty of food. We for sure had some leftovers. My favorite was probably the pesto pasta. Great flavors. The cacio e pepe was indeed quite peppery. Overall a solid experience with some minor tweaks could make it a great dining experience on a hot summer day. read more

They put a little birthday flag in a holder on our table! The decor is sort of an elegant sophistication with a black and gold theme sprinkled everywhere. Don't miss those gold mirrors. We had a 7pm reservations and were seated on time and by the entrance. It's loud and very difficult to have conversations. We tried the fried eggplant which was delish and calamari's. For mains we have the lamb shanks one with risotto and one with veggies and they both were flavorful and tasty. We also had the chicken Parmesan , risotto halibut, chicken pasta and everything was flavorful. All the serving were generous and in the future can be sharable items. I was hoping to get the pasta on wheel but they only have it on Tue- Thur sadly. They cater for Nut allergies which is great. You do have to tell the server to check with the chef as sometimes pesto has cashew nuts. Over service was outstanding and top notch. We were celebrating a 94 year old birthday so ordered the birthday sundae which is not complimentary but cost $20. Cannolis that came with the birthday sundae were so hard we had a tough time breaking it to share. Dining at Rimini is more than just a meal...it is a full on experience! Their food is fantastic and the portion sizes are extremely generous. Their food staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Max, was the best. It is a little noisy during peak times, with lots of people, but it's part of the experience. They have a man serenading tables with his guitar and is a fun night out. WOW After reading the reviews, I expected something good, but wow, just wow, Rimini honestly just blew me away! I decided to come here for my birthday, and booked a reservation 8pm Saturday- they even prepared a little birthday napkin at the table! The ambience was loud, noisy and crowded. One of the waitresses quickly got us water, and, after taking our orders, brought out bread. The bread was drenched in olive oil-so delicious! After finishing the first plate, they brought out ANOTHER plate of bread, and one of the male waiters/singers brought out some pecorino cheese with balsamic vinegar. While the wait for the food was long (45 minutes-1 hour), it's to be expected from a fancy restaurant like this, and the staff kept us entertained with a guitarist going around to different tables, and all the free foods. We ordered: Malfaldine Pistachio Pesto (4.5/5): the noodles had such a cool texture, and the dish came with either prawns or sausage (I chose prawns), as well as sun-dried tomatoes, which add a nice pop. The sauce could have been a little more flavorful, but the portion was GIANT and delicious :). Wild Boar Rose Bolognese: Didn't taste this myself. The portion size was significantly smaller than the pistachio pesto (I don't know if this is consistent), but the meat chunks were good! Short Rib Ravioli: Again, didn't really eat this myself, but my brother who did cleaned up shop! Filetto Mignon alla Marsala: Didn't eat much of the actual meat, but the pasta was good and very mushroom-flavored. Gnocchi Pesto or Panna Prosciutto: We got the gnocchi with pesto, and it was really good! It came topped witha piece of bread and prosciutto (this would probably be my most recommended dish) Okay but it's not just the FOOD that makes this place great, it's the bustling, loud ambience, and the workers and music!! A guitarist went around to every table, playing songs for each and every guest, workers circled by whenever we were in need, one guy in a suit asked about the birthday occasion!! The people are so personable and authentic, and I feel like I would come back to the restaurant just for them :). For dessert, we ordered the white chocolate tiramisu and the "It's My Birthday Italian Sundae (With sparkler candle)". The white chocolate tiramisu was light and decadent, with a nice hint of coffee flavor. the Sundae, on the other hand, was GIANT, with 2 big cannolis on top of a giant portion of smoothhh vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce and white chocolate curls. The guitarist came over to sing happy birthday in both Italian and English, as well as the guy in the suit (He's so cool and worked hard to make every experience unique, shoutout to that guy :)), for the ENTIRE restaurant to hear. At the end, they do include a 20% gratuity fee, which is honestly so fair considering the hired guitarist and all the staff being so attentive and personable. As we were leaving, they also gave each of us a chocolate ball (either ferrero rocher, or a golden ball Overall, the food was great, the staff were AMAZING, the experience was EXTRAORDINARY, and I will definitely come back for ANY special occasion that I can. read more
