The interior is dark and moody, the waitresses are all in short shorts while the men are in all black. It's a bit of a tight fit. The only reason I marked this down is due to the sound. I am so OBSESSED with Rimini! I was taking here for my birthday on a Friday night and it was so incredibly lively. It felt like I was part of one big family while I was dying here from the quality of the food, to the generous portions, and don't even get me started on the live music. We did group songs with the entire restaurant, every table got individually serenaded once, and I even got the happy birthday song too! The pasta is delicious and there is so much of it. The appetizer was hearty too and the servers took great care of us. It felt romantic with my boyfriend but somehow even more romantic with everyone who was thrilled to be there working the dinner service. Great birthday celebration. They sang song and gave a mini fire work to my husband's birthday cake for his birthday. We sat outdoor because they said that their seats are first come first serve. We did expect a better seat inside. We ordered a Fig Salad, Seafood Pasta and Mushroom Raviolis. They offered gluten and diary free menu options. The Seafood clams were a bit sandy, and seafood did not really taste very impressive. Pasta was shedded, did not know was that done on purpose or overly cooked. This is a lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Kirkland. They are only about a year old so I hadn't realized they moved in, until we decided to try it for my birthday dinner. I'm so glad we chose this spot! The restaurant has a small shopfront on Lake, and then goes back all the way to the other side of the street, facing the water. It is very cozy and the warm family vibes are really felt from the time you enter to the time you leave. It really felt like when I'm with my Italian extended in-laws around the holidays. We started with a bottle of Montepulciano to go with the arugula salad and eggplant parmigiani - both were delicious! Next we were entertained by lively accordion music and singing before our dinner arrived. For dinner I had the cioppino and my friend had the ziti. The flavors were savory and filling - and portions were enough to warrant leftovers! We finished the meal with the homemade cannoli and Nutella cheesecake, which they topped with a large sparkling candle (accompanied by beautiful singing!) Everything made me smile from ear to ear. The calamari and prawns were perfect and came with what looked like marinara but was actually a red pepper aioli. The Caesar salad was really nice. For the main I had Pollo Marsala con Sachetti. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. The pasta was outstanding. They give you your own Parmesan for the table which was amazing as well. Their olive oil is top notch. The main event, the pasta, was even more than I expected. Still keeping up with the theme of huge portions but blowing my mind with flavor and texture. Clearly artisan made, the pasta was soft, bouncy and so well made you can taste the subtle sweetness of the wine in the sauce on every textural detail of each noodle. I ordered the Filet Mignon ala Marsala and while the filet was cooked to utter perfection, the pasta outshined as the star on my plate. I am a meatatarian and for pasta to seduce my palette over a perfectly cooked filet mignon, well... The service was wonderful with just the right amount of check ins and time between. I only know they had been keeping tabs on our table because as soon as we needed something someone was there asking about it. I can't believe I've lived on the east side for almost 5 years now and had never heard of, much less frequented this outstanding family run Italian restaurant in the heart of charming Kirkland! Someone, who I assume was part of the family, played guitar and saying to any table that was game. He was actually quite good and unlike some instances when I've had live music, tableside, was not in the least intrusive. A lovely song and he was on his way. I believe they're particularly known for the short rib, ravioli, and I could see why. The short rib itself was incredibly tender and flavorful. We also ordered a steak that was nicely prepared and quite good. The gnocchi was also delicious, if slightly under sauce. But when I mentioned it was slightly dry, they immediately provided me a side bowl of sauce to remedy the situation. Again, just great service! As we were leaving the restaurant, I was slightly disappointed that I didn't see Giovanni, as I wanted to thank him and his family for a wonderful evening. I've been here twice and had great experiences both times. The first time was with my work group and then I took my hubby here recently. Now the restaurant itself is loud, but if you get seated in the back, then it's not as noisy, and you get a great view of Kirkland Marina area. Parking is street parking with garages close by. The staff are attentive and welcoming. The food and drink offerings span the gamet! Portion sizes are liberal! The first time I had the special which was Lamb Shank with Red Wine reduction over Risotto. It was delicious and very generous! I couldn't finish it and took it home, but we also had some appetizers to share. And for the appetizers, our party really enjoyed the Bruschetta Bolognese and it could be an entree to itself! But I wanted to take my hubby here beacuse he's obsessed with the Cacio e Pepe Truffle Pasta (the one with pasta in the Pecarino-Romano cheese wheel). So he had that recently, and was a happy camper! Although you can have it as-is, they will also offer it with shrimp or chicken. I had the Panna Bolognese and that was also delicous, with Pappardelle pasta. And once again I couldn't finish my meal! There was even an accordion player walking around providing some nice entertainment. It was a super hot day and they kept the door open so it got pretty hot in the restaurant as well. I'd say it was also a bit loud in the restaurant. It was very packed. Food portions here are quite generous. I'd say the best way to do it is family style and share everything. We got an appetizer, salad and three pastas for the four of us and it was plenty of food. We for sure had some leftovers. My favorite was probably the pesto pasta. Great flavors. The restaurant is small and quaint and wraps downstairs for a second intimate dining room full of old photos of Italian families enjoying life. Lots of gold in a dimly lit room. Everyone treated us like family. We started with some wine, cocktails, and appetizers of scampi, clams in lemon wine sauce, crusty bread and the giant meatball. The Italian wine selection was substantial for such a small establishment. We enjoyed a Super Tuscan which complimented our food perfectly. Others in our party enjoyed a plethora of cocktails including a tables idea Smoked old-fashioned with walnut bitters. After appetizers are food arrived and we were not disappointed. I enjoyed a chicken marmalade with handmade gnocchi..that were the most dreamy tiny soft pillows of goodness. The chicken was ok, but the gnocchi was the star. The sauce was rich and flavorful infused with fresh herbs. My husband ordered the pasta carbonara with generous chunks of Italian cured meat and a beautiful poached egg on top. Two in our party ordered the Wild Boar Bolognese sauce with parpadelli noodles which they rated a 4 to 5 stars. Uncle Toni was fantastic. His voice is true velvet. Sometimes when you have live music it takes away from the food and being able to talk with the one you are with. But Uncle Toni has a voice of angel. And can he play the guitar. The staff are polite and kind and want to make you feel at home and part of the family. The food is simply amazing. You feel the love, and pride they take in preparing it in each bite. The meatball appetizer was on point, moist and flavorful and the sauce I could have drunk. The large tomatoes were sweet and fresh not bitter or sharp. The fig, arugula and gorganzola Salad was one of if not the best salads I've ever had. And we have eaten all over the world. I felt I was back in Italy. The Sunday gravy got better as you ate it with it cooling and all the flavors melting together. Amazing!!!! Happy train to flavor down The steak and lobster ravioli were amazing. They could have hit an ok piece of filet under the amazing sauce but they had a choice piece of filet that would revel any top NY steak houses. Cooked to perfection where it melts in the mouth. After attending Cirque du Soleil, six of us went to Rimini Restaurant for an early dinner. What a fine dining experience, with live music, friendly service by the staff. We had a variety of dishes, and two salads to share with an abundance of delicious food to eat and with some extra to take home. We were given samples of one of their cheeses, bread for each person and a glass of bubbly before leaving. Great time had by all. read more
